Lost All Photos And Videos In Libraries / Album Art Screwed Up
Oct 13, 2011
I'm new to Windows 7 and "Libraries". Just as I got it all figured out and organized, I seem to have really made a mess by trying to keep WMP from monitoring my video and picture libraries. Now when I click on Start/Pictures or Start/Videos it's empty! Also, and I don't know if this is related, album art is all screwed up in WMP. Not all art and songs match. If there is a way to "reset" WMP, maybe that would work. I can't figure out how to keep it from updating WMP. I found where to uncheck the update libraries but there doesn't seem to be a way to stop the program from going on line daily, weekly or monthly to update the program.

I was not able to edit my photos and was sent a link to look at my authorization level of my user. I have one user ADMIN and it seemed to be authorized in doing everything.
Anyway I chose a file folder with recent photo clicked on properties and then went to advance ....anyway don't remember what I clicked the file disappeared and I have not been able to retrieve it. I retrieved some of the photos by going to recent activity and that was a folder with in the folder that is now MIA.
Is if possible these photos are archived?? I just have no clue why the folder with these photos disappeared and more importantly why I can't find them on my C drive anywhere. I am using a Sony Vaio all in one.

I have a ipod touch and a toshiba laptop running win 7. I recently got an email to say that the latest version of the touch software is available. I clicked through and downloaded the update All was well, all music, video apps etc all as before. Pictures however have all gone! further more they have gone from the mypictures place on win 7!
I have tried rolling back the update, system restore etc but no joy. I can still see the shortcuts to the picture folders in recent places but cannot access the pictures.
Im not sure if this is an apple issue or a windows issue ill timed? Does anyone have any advise of how I might be able to access these pictures again? Ill try anything and of course i dont have a backup! (no one buys a house alarm until you get robbed!)

I have a problem getting Media Center to display my Photos showing the individual photos contents of each folder.I am running Windows 7 HP 64 bit with all updates. My MEDIA (movies, music & photos) are on a separate hdd (M). Each of the media formats has it's own folder on the M drive, Movies, Music & Photos. I have no problem with the movies or the music. However, when I choose "pictures" in Windows Media Center only the individual photos folders are shown....no photos are shown in these folders. I see the individual folders but no contents. I have set up "Libraries" on the C: drive; Music, Video & Photos. When I click on photos in the "Libraries" all the photos folders are show each with it's own photos. I have "Shared" these libraries as well as each folder on the Media drive M. The format of the individual photos is jpg. I have run SFC/Scannow.

I tried to set up a dualboot of 7 and XP, so I made a new partition from XP (named S: ) and installed 7 there.
It finished installing all right and booted to 7, but when I restarted no boot manager appeared and I could only run XP.
So I decided to follow the steps from Method 2 here
Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP
but I must have screwed something up very badly 'cause I can only access 7 now.
I went into the disk management tool and things have gone weird there: S: drive is now labeled C: (and I can't change it), and my XP drive (that was C: ) is now a logical drive (wtf?) labeled E:
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I was playing around with the registry deleting what I though to be useless stuff and being the silly man I am, I somehow disabled the wifi. I did not backup my registry and I have no system restores to return to because I disabled that service.I can connect to a router on windows 7 wifi in that the router will detect an incorrect network password, but it always says limited access under the wifi icon. I cannot log in to the router to change the router's settings when i put 192.168.1.1 in a web browser. Otherwise there is no wifi functionality.I know this problem is isolated to my windows os because when i boot on ubuntu (which I am on now) I can get wifi.I tried reinstalling the wifi card but that did not work.I still have my windows 7 disc but my disc drive broke like 8 months ago... I'm probably going to have to end up buying another one
If I system repair from the windows disc, will it still preserve my files and installations? Is there some easier way to fix this, like is there a default registry file out there that I can just download and run in windows 7 to restore my registry to defaults?Oh and I was also deleting a bunch of tasks off the windows task scheduler as well. I don't think deleting a task would disable the wifi but I don't know.

I downloaded Black Prophecy beta client, installed it. During the install, It was installing microsoft .net framework and direct x stuff. I'm thinking that the framework did something to my permissions because I can't even launch the game.Whenever I try to launch the game it shows the "windows can't acess this file blah blah blah" crap. Now the reason why I think the framework screwed up my permissions is, now whenever I start up firefox, an error message pops and and says "microsoft and acess this file blahblabhl" Also I can't even uninstall the game, I have to manually drag to to the recycle bin. How do I fix this

I can't get sound from any of the web pages I've visited. I tried to install a codec package, and it won't allow me. I am the sole user of the computer, I'm running W7 64bit with a X-Fi soundcard. All other sound works fine and it is hooked up via spdif optical link to a seperate surround sound system.
Therefore, My first question, How do I get the sound to work?
2nd question, even if is or isn't the codec issue, why won't windows update the registry with the codec installation package (1402 error). I am the administrator!

I've been using my parents computer for the last few months and decided to make my own user/log-in the other day. After doing so, I cut/pasted my photos folder into my new user directory (or whatever, I'm not very techie..). I have thousands of photos, my BF is a photographer, and I can view most of them. However, in one particular folder 90% of them aren't viewable! Says I don't have permission... When I log back into parents windows, I can see the photos in my directory (as they are no longer located in theirs) but there are little gold padlocks on the ones I cannot see on my log-in. I've tried changing permissions, ownership, you name it.. I've looked for help on line and tried everything. The only thing that seems to work is if I right click on each individual photo and change things that way.

WMP 12 has automatically created a playlist for, it seems, every album in my library. It displays these in the central details pane when I highlight playlists in the navigation pane. This makes it difficult to find the playlists which I created myself (eg those containing a selection of tracks from different albums or a link to a radio station). The ones I really want to find get lost amongst all the albums. Is there a way to get rid of the 'album playlists' which WMP created, or to have them not show? The same issue occurs on both my main PC and my laptop. I don't see the point of these 'album playlists'. When I want to play an album I can look at the albums view of the library and play the album from there. I tried deleting them but they were created again the next time I restarted WMP.

WMP is showing music library at opening, but it won't load any album art. It's a bit complicated to explain the problem exactly, so I will post some screenshots that you can get what I'm saying.
1) I open WMP, and at it's set to Library => Musc => All music, but it wont' load any album art. I see album name, artist, and everything else, but no album art. I tried to wait, but even after hour or so everything's still same.
2) I go to album submenu (or any ohter), and than it shows album art normally.
3) After that, I go back to All music, and then I can see album art there, as well.

I know they are hidden and i have a lot of duplicates and what no and want to have a good clean up and possibly grab as much artwork as possible without going to google and going through the sordid take of finding them again. Now i know mine are all hidden and not embedded because a while ago i was using Recuva and did a full scan of hard drives and the first info it pulled up was the folders for the music with the album art showing but of course no music. Is this possible, after looking on google, i just seem to find people saying about un-hidding normal folders.

Only problem is that when a new visualizaation is selected, it fails to take. I especially liked the "Batttery" series used in WMP 9 . But when I try to select it in WMP12, there is a non-functional scroll window displayed that will not allow you to see, let alone select the version of Battery that I want to see.

I need to force media player to use the internally stored album art and not use the folder.jpg file. For the way I have my music organized, I keep more than one album in a folder and WMP ends up with the wrong album art.

I know this is not very important in the grand scheme of things, but it irritates the crap out of me. When the player is in "Now Playing" mode, using the album art visualization, is it possible to make the album art bigger? When in full screen mode the album art is but a tiny postage stamp on the desktop. I would like to make it larger so it's easier to see. Is there a way to enlarge it, or did the programmers in Redmond not think there would ever be a need to actually be able to see and enjoy the album art?

Does windows 7 feature a program that would separate tracks on a cassette that I downloaded on to my computer? I downloaded it but now I want to separate and name each track. I apologize for not knowing all the technical names of what I am trying to achieve. I am a senior citizen trying to preserve my cassettes.

I'm having very frustrating issues with my music library and trying to organize it to have the right album artwork. Here's the scenario below. Typical scenario1. Under the library tab every single option is unchecked, specifically "Retrieve Additional Information from the Internet" = UNCHECKED2. Browse to a folder containing 45 mp3 files. 44 are from one album. The last one is from another band with no album artwork. So it should display the generic music note symbol when I play it in WMP 12 correct? Well it DOES do this if I open it up first. HOWEVER IF3. First file opened in WMP creates a folder and AlbumArt jpeg.4. Subsequent files opened in that folder now use these jpegs displaying the wrong image for the mp3 file. Here's the thing, I do not want to keep occurring. WHY is it happening.ow do I make it stop most importantly of all? my media library littered with jpegs, I like my files to be portable with any art included within the file.NOTE: I've even tried making the entire Music folder "Read Only" which I think is very extremely and a higly retarded "solution" but at this point I'm so fed up I'm willing to try anything. However the "Read Only" option is a bunch of sh*t. It doesn't work. The folder.jpg is still being created by WMP and Windows 7 after I play a song within that folder.

I have seen this pop up a few times and have no idea why and/or how to make it stick. Occasionally, the file type is in the lower-right corner of the album art. This has been added on the fly by WMP12. How to configure this?

I have removed all the album art (pictures) using mp3tag and now there are no images showing in map3tag. I have also deleted VLC player's album art cache. I also made sure that no folders were hidden having those images by showing system protected hidden folders and all. But I don't know from where vlc again get the album art. I don't know where those images are. I removed them from mp3tag, mp3tag does not show them anymore.
They are not hidden anywhere, I checked everywhere. I cleared VLC album art cache which was hidden earlier and also run ccleaner. If I select vlc to load album art manually in privacy setting under interface. Than it does not show. But my concern is that when i have nowhere those images in my pc from where vlc get them. I want to see album arts but not for all songs, few are bad looking. How to find out where are those images.

All i want is my ability to send pictures via windows explorer with the right click feature, then to resize them and then send them. Now when it gets ready to send it says some stuff about Skydrive, about some photo album and wants me to log in somewhere. I don't want any of that. I want the old tried and true method I had under plain jane Windows Mail before. How do I make WLM 2011 behave like the old WM? I just want to select, resize and send the way it used to work under WM!!!!!

Somehow now whenever I open it any music that does not have artwork associated with it is given a random album cover. These previously had a "music note". This cover is applied to ALL music except those that have artwork as part of the file. The next time I open it it will apply a different album cover. This just started as I was trying to figure out why my music folders in explorer weren't displaying artwork properly. Somehow I changed a setting or something.
