I have Windows 7 64bit running on my computer, and I have a zillion AVCHD files well a lot :-).My problem is, that I am used to double clicking on a file, and it should play. However, with these files, you double click, and the file disappears. It doesn't matter how I try to recover it (Esc, Undo, etc), it has gone
I'm looking for software to convert my camera's high definition (MOV) files to m2ts (AVCHD) files so I can produce an AVCHD DVD disk to play on a BlueRay video player. I have tried Corel's Movie Factory PRO 7, and Cyberlink's Power Director 10. Both programs crash when the Burn stage is started.
I'm having trouble rendering from mov files edited in Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate Collection to AVCHD. After about 20 min of video, artifacts begin to appear as figures move horizontally.
I recently updated Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9 on my notebook. Following the updates and restart I had no desktop icons appear. I seem to have resolved that issue, but now ALL of my miscrosoft documents, pictures, etc. that were in files are gone. The file folders apeear as usual, but they are now completely empty. In addition, my Libraries folders no longer appear (My Documents, My Pictures, My Videos)
i have recently lost some files on my computer and was wondering if any knew how to get them back.i had some files saved on E: drive and when i check on them today the folders are all still there and named but they are empty and i don't know what has happened to them.there is nothing in the recycle bin so i don't know where they could have gone!
I lost some system 32 files from dropping my computer im not sure how many are lost. How do i restore it. When i tried to restore it with the cd it said missing file.
I accidentally changed my admin. permissions lost privileges and now I don't have access to my user files. I created a new admin. account and still cant find my old files.
I cant be positive that this is solely a Windows 7 issue, considering that files can get lost all the time on any system but, just recently, a good majority of my jpeg picture files have randomly disappeared. There are a few folders that are still in the usual place (Pictures Folder). As for the missing folders, they would appear after I use the computer search, however, when I try to open them, I get a pop-up that states that the shortcut has been modified/moved and my only option is whether or not I want to delete it. I looked under Recent Docs and the missing files show up; the latest one thats been modified was earlier this month when it was still accessible. I've even tried a system restore (from before the modification dates) and the Unerasure program, which I found out the hard way is a total sham. Is there any way to recover these? I really don't want to lose a chunk of nostalgia
I have just reinstalled windows 7 pro on my PC, without formatting, because it wouldnt start up, but i needed to keep all the files on there. now i have it started up but i cant find my old user folders, although they must be here somewhere because of the 100gb or so showing up as full. how might i go about finding them? i have lots of work not to mention ALL my recent itunes purchases and hours worth of saved games. i assume they must be here somewhere but on windows i wouldnt know the 1st place to start looking.
my aunt has new toshiba laptop win7 ran fine 2months then one day no folders in libraries - i don't know what she did, but i can't find and when i try right click default folders nothing happens - i have used search, etc cant find any of the four usually lib folders
It occured when i tried to open internet explorer while google chrome was downloading a file. However, I have always been able to do this when I attempted it previously, so I am not sure what made this time different, but after i clicked on internet explorer, everything i had open got immediately closed, my screen flashed black, and when it was back at my desktop, all my icons were gone aside from Recycling bin, Microsoft Word, and Powerpoint, and like 50 little message windows opened one after the other saying that files may have been lost because of damage done to the C drive. I cannot preform a system restore because it says there are no previous restore points, and all of my files (documents, pictures, downloads, music, programs) are no longer on my computer for some reason? Is this just a problem with my C drive that can be fixed and restored? Or are all of my files gone for good? Also, my PCtools Spy Doctor ran a scan and said: Adware.BHO.GEN (20 Infections) - High Threat.
you will have to bare with me as my technical knowledge of computers is very limted!Whilst trying to join the local homegroup network, I found out the issue was that my WORK laptop was connected to a domain & unable to share files because of being connected to this EX company domain/network.Naively, without first checking consquences, disconnected from the WORK domain & made the computer use for home & renamed it. Upon doing so, was asked to re-boot.On re-booting, the adminstator login password had resorted back to the one when setup originally?? As my normal password was not being accepted. I must add - I NO LONGER WORK FOR SAID COMPANY AND HAVE NO WAY OF ACCQUIRING PASSWORD/NETWORK/DOMAIN ACCESS DETAILS ANYMORE!I then used the windows password unlocker tool (20 paid) to gain access back to my laptop. Obviously now realising a lot of very important information, emails, all desktop icons & file locations were no longer where they were supposed to be I spent an hour searching everywhere... The hard drive is still saying it has 150gigabyte of use & certain files display more data in 'properties' than is actually displayed in the folder itself. After doing a little research it looks like all my files, emails etc are in this imaginery 'domain' that I am now unable to access at all & no longer have the details to re-join again! A few files are still dotted around where they are supposed to be but a lot no longer accessable. With no access details to re-join this domain, is there any way AT ALL of re-claiming these files? Any 3rd party software, hard drive recovery software? Easiest way,
I had to replace a hard drive on a new computer. It was not backed up. A recovery disk and new harddrive was sent. I transferred everything but got all the way to the point of configuring windows for new computer. Then it would state must re-install...then administrater locked screen would appear but with no way to enter password. A new recovery disc was sent and installed. Problem is i can't find anything from my old harddrive. Where can i look for files to recover them. Are they still on the old hard drive?

I have an MS windows 7 64 bit system. I used CCleaner to clean the registry but did not backup the changes. I have lost my media and video thumbnail view for my movie files with an avi extension. I use both winamp and a VLC media player to play my movies and tv programs.Could the registry cleaning have changed something and is there a way to get the thumbnails back?
I am running Windows 7 and had problems where user profile service would not load. I followed instructions saying to open in safe mode and delete profile files ending .bak via the regeditor. Now it boots up but all the user information is gone, desktop icons etc. The worst is all my microsoft outlook messages which contained hundreds of important messages. I can't seem to find the pst file.I'm assuming it's on the computer somewhere? I've done a search of the computer for *.pst and haven't found anything
I have win 7 home basic in one of my laptop. I wanted to know if all my personal files and programs like ms office will go if I upgrade to win 7 ultimate. I have ultimate's cd with me. I just wanted to know if I will lose all my programs if I upgrade from home basic to ultimate.
I am familiar with System Restore, selecting earlier times, and the often-available option of undoing a System Restore. But I found out (too late) that according to Microsoft, System Restore done in Safe Mode is not able to be undone.I lost 1,000's of photos doing the system restore, now the only restore point option visible is what I believe to be the new one after I did the restore. Prior to me doing the System Restore, there were a number of times from me to choose from, I just chose one that was 10 days ago. Is there any software, method, or hack that I can use or do to recover the thousands of photos that were on my desktop and that were in folders on my desktop? It's a 1 TB HD?
Yesterday, I just reinstall fresh windows 7. After I install the OS, I just realize that my recycle bin is empty. Before I installed windows 7, some of my deleted files on my other hard disk is there. But now, I could not find it anymore. After that, I tried to select show hidden folder, files, and drives and unsellect hide protected operating system files on folder options. I try to browse to one of my hard disk, which has the deleted files on recycle bin before, then I found it the recycle bin icon there as well (For instance, the path of the drive is: N:$RECYCLE.BIN). I tried to look at the properties, and I found that the missing size of the deleted files was on there. The problem is I cannot access it. When I tried to open the recycle bin, it just empty. I need some help with this. How do I retrieve the files again to the OS recycle bin, not the hard disk recycle bin? Is it possible to access it again? I really need those files back.
I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again. At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found. One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard. So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then. But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]
recently i've got infected by malwares and tried to fix it using mcafee stinger and it fix my computer, but suddenly when I looked into my drives most of the folders are missing or somewhat the path are missing. I thought the folders are just hidden but it completely deleted or lost but still my programs are intact and working, already tried using unhider and registry fixer but to no avail still cant locate my folder files.

Last week I was trying to backup some files to External HD, because of some editing that is due in three days from now. I have spent that week using Tune Up Utilities, System Mechanic, Hdd regenerator, CheckDisc Gui, Advanced System Care, checkdisk, WinDlg, Perfect Disc, PDtt (or something like that) and many other trying to fix some error that was reported by windows whenever I connected the drive to Pc.
Finally I decided to go with that same windows utility that was reporting errors and everything went fine.
But today I was trying to defrag index files on fixed internal partition with Perfect Disc that is done during boot, and Chkdsk appeared and before I could stop it started fixing something and erased 200gb of material or stored it somewhere where I can't find it. I can't find reports, log or anything. No indications of it in any of the utilities. I revealed hidden files/folders, went through Total Commander view, even Nero, and nothing, no trace of chk files. But I can see used space:
I lost my product ID and Key and I need to reinstal Malwarebytes. How can I get my product ID & Key? or what is the phone number to call. In addition I changed my e mail after I purchased the product.
My HD failed but I had run a backup just before. I restored from backup. It created a Hilda PC user and I also have a Hilda user so I transferred all of my files from Hilda PC to Hilda and deleted the Hilda PC folder. I went to open a .doc file I use frequently and was not able to find it. I had just used it an hour earlier so I know I have it on the PC but now I can't find it. I even ran a retrieve deleted files software in case I had inadvertently deleted it and it didn't show up. I have done a complete search of my PC and external HD and I can't find it.I am nervous because it contained some sensitive information.

Basically a courier came to pick up my laptop so i gave it to him. I was told by an HP technician a few weeks beforehand to only give the courier the laptop without the battery in it. I recieved an email from HP this morning saying "Your unit is being collected tomorrow Fri 7 Jan as an empty box was received by the repair centre." I've replied to the email saying i didn't even put my laptop in a box and asked them if they have indeed lost it, but i've not recieved a reply yet. I'd like to know what my options are if they have. Will they supply me with replacement of the same model? I'm still within warranty, but i don't know if that makes a difference.
