Logitech QuickCam For Notebooks Pro

Oct 28, 2009

OS: Windows 7 64bit Device: Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro

Maybe you guys might have some ideas in helping me solve this issue with a driver for a Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro.

Previously I got the webcam working by using this work around: Software Simple Blog Archive Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Pro Webcam In Windows Vista and it worked fine no problems. That was when I had Windows 7 32bit installed.

Now that I am running the 64bit version things are proving a little tricky. I tried the same technique as I previously did for the 32bit but no luck.

Additionally I tried some of the methods listed in the other QuickCam Pro for Notebooks 9000 thread but no luck with that either. Of course the webcams are different, I was just hoping that the same principle might apply..

Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 Freezes Up

Jan 30, 2009

I want to start by saying that I love Windows 7. The only driver issue I have is with this Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 which I just purchased. I am on a 32-bit system and based on some of the things I've heard on here, they have had no trouble. Here are the issues that I've been having.

1) I try to install the Quickcam software and it does so successfully (also in compatibility mode), but once I try to use the software, it freezes up.

2) The camera always works but because I cannot use the software, I have not been able to record a video. I bought the camera so I could use Google Talk with my family and that's all I really care about.

3) The microphone does not work at all. Tested it in Sound Recorder.

Where I am now: I got Windows 7 to install the drivers but not to install the software. So in Device Manager it shows that everything is working properly. The main thing I want to work is the microphone so I have functionality with Google Talk.

Logitech Quickcam Express Doesn't Work

Jan 11, 2009

I'm on Windows7 64-bit... I've tried everything. Obviously there's no windows 7 drivers for this, so I tried to get the vista ones from the official website. The installer wouldn't even run, until I ran it through vista compatibility. They installed, but it didn't even react to when I plugged the camera in or not. So I tried finding other 64-bit drivers I could find on the net for the quickcam. They would install, and I would manually assign the drivers that match the camera, but then applications say that the 'webcam is in use' even though nothing was using it, obviously... so apparently, it does not work.

Logitech Gaming Drivers

Sep 21, 2009

I installed Windows 7 RC 7100 on my gaming rig a couple of months ago. All was well until I got to the Logitech Gaming drivers for my Rumblepad 2 and Force Feedback Racing Wheel. Using Vista x64 drivers my system crashed repeatedly (cant recall exact error message)

The logitech website says that most Vista drivers will not have any issues with Windows 7, however I am a little apprehensive about reformatting if the problem occurs again.

My questions are:

1. Is anybody else having the same probs?

2. Is there a solution to this?(apart from not installing Windows 7)

I really liked the the look and feel of Windows 7 however not being able to use game controllers on my gaming rig sort of defeats the purpose.

Nvidia Drivers And Logitech Setpoint 4.80

I can't install new drivers. I tried to install the new nvidia drivers and logitech setpoint 4.80 and all I get is the next error message:

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again" (see attached)

I'm not using any download managers.

I downloaded the drivers with and without firewall or anti-virus, I cleaned my temp directory.

Logitech MX510 Mouse PS/2 Drivers

Sep 14, 2009

Background, I'm somewhat of a techie, not much. Been playing around with Windows 7 recently, 64 bit. Just need some help/advice.

I have an old Logitech MX510 mouse and I wanted to install the Logitech software so I could program the buttons. Turns out Logitech doesn't offer anything past XP. So I downloaded the XP versionof the software and ran it on my Windows 7 in compatibility mode for XP (SP2), as administrator. Everything installed, but the mouse software didn't work. Windows driver was overriding Logitech, probably because it was more recent.

So I tried uninstalling the logitech stuff seeing as it didn't work. Unfortunately I got an error saying I was missing a file i8042prt.sys and therefore the software could not be uninstalled. Hm, I looked up the file and supposedly it should be in Windows/System32/Drivers. I didn't have it, so I thought I'd be smart. I copied the file from my old Windows XP directories and pasted it into the correct location, ran the uninstall, and everything was removed easily. Cool, so after that was done I thought that well I shouldn't leave a random file around in my systems folder so I tried deleting it.

Turns out, I couldn't delete the file I had pasted (i8042prt.sys) because I no longer had permission. As administrator this was kinda weird so I looked at who had permission. Only System and TrustedInstaller (I'm guessing this came from the Logitech software installer) had full permission. As admin, I could only read and execute. Looked around at some of the other files I have in my Drivers folder and the permissions were all similar. Administrator didn't have permission for most of the files, but TrustedInstaller did.

So...anyone know if this is a problem or anything? Everything seems to be working fine...but it kinda irks me that even as admin I can't touch many files. On a side note, I'm curious to know if the i8042prt.sys file was there originally and got deleted or if it's only there because I put it there. I would appreciate if anyone running Windows 7 could check and lemme know.

Edit: Also this is still a pretty fresh install, so no system restore points before the incident.

Get A CPU With HD 4000?

Dec 12, 2011

My current setup has a Pentium G620 (HD Graphics 1000), which runs fairly well except for a few major drawbacks:

When I want to watch Blu-Ray movies, PowerDVD's interface has some really annoying stuttering. skipping ahead or ff/rw also is somewhat unstable If I want to convert a movie, it takes well over 6 hours to do so.

(see disclosure) Watching .mkv's on my XBOX via WMC is slightly unstable, as it'll lock up if I try to fast forward or rewind 1080p videos (I don't know exactly how this works, but I'm pretty sure the computer converts the .mkv to an XBOX-compatible format before streaming to the XBOX)

SO basically I'd like to upgrade. If I had known beforehand that the Pentium wouldn't be up to snuff enough I'd had gone for the i3-2105 (or 2125 if I can find it), Since it has HD 2000 and Quick Sync (which I think would solve my problems). But since I'm upgrading, I'd want something superior enough to make it worthwhile. That's also why I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge, even though it's fairly similar to SB.

I don't think the details for the IB graphics are finalized, but I think I read that the 2500 was supposed to be the 2000 but with DX 11, OCL 1.1, and one or two more channels. But the 4000 is supposed to be a lot more powerful, and might futureproof me a bit if I decided to go into gaming.

Connecting HP 4000 Through Airport To PC?

May 12, 2011

I have both a Macbook and a PC laptop. I use an Airport for my wireless network. I connected my HP 4000 to the Airport via cable. My Macbook finds the HP fine. My PC does not. The only time I can see the HP is when my Macbook is turned on and logged on. Once in awhile, I can even get the HP to print a test page when the Macbook is on, but that's about it. I want to be able to print directly to the HP without having to have the Macbook on also.

Dual Monitors With Old Geforce4 Mx 4000

Nov 16, 2009

Odd situation. I have two video cards a geforce4 MX 4000 and built in Intel Q965/Q963 installed in a HP dc5700 with 1GB of RAM running Windows 7 Enterprise fresh install. The onboard Intell has the latest drivers from HP and the nVidia I got working using the 81.98 forceware driver.

If I select the nvidia card as the main video card in the BIOS the display will show up on just one monitor (the one plugged in to the card), if I look in the device manager it sees both cards w/o errors yet I have no option for dual display, if I click on "detect" it finds nothing. Also all the nvidia software runs fine.

However if I select the onboard card as the default then the display goes on just it's monitor but this time in device manager the nvidia card has the "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)" message and obviouly no option for dual monitors.

It would seem both drivers and monitors are working since they work independantly, it's just that Windows7 doesn't seem to want them to play together. Also this situation worked fine when pc was WinXP.
