This last week a new issue has come up in regards to disk responsiveness. I use COWON JetAudio (latest version) for FLAC playback, on my media hard disk. However when I'm playing back tracks occasionally (2-3 minutes) apart a lag event occurs where as the playing track will stop for a second and then resume. I'm assuming this is some sort of thing to do with an improper setting, but I increased playback priority setting to real time and the problem still persists. This problem persisted from the last version to the updated version. Streaming playback does not have the same problem. I've yet to defrag the disk, but I'm not sure if this would actually affect such a low-intensity disk operation. There are also some other problems in the lag department such as when I open my the disk from my computer takes 10 seconds for the progress bar to finish so.
i downloaded Puran Free Defrag to maintain my computer, the defrag process has no problems, the optimizing process also has no problems. but, when it goes to the filling gaps process, it crashes halfway..
I'm having incredible frustration with my pc. It LAGS during most games, including the following,
[code]...
So why on earth would these games lag??? IT's DRIVING ME INSANE! I can't play them without a lag and my system specs are above the "REQUIRED" system requirements to run the games.
1. There are no additional process's running in my process's that are chewing up my memory and slowing my pc down.
2. PhYsix is set to auto so it selects the best CPU for physix controlled games. And I've also tried both.
3. My games are run in the LOWEST possible game and graphic specs to try make it less laggy, to no avail.
4. 3d is "disabled". So it can't be slow.
5. I do not have any virus's, and all my display drivers are correctly installed and up to date.
Okay so a couple of problems. When I don't use my computer, the harddisk light is on. Not blinking, just flashing with no pause. I'm having some lag spikes when I boot and it says "Welcome", I checked my Event Viewer and it said: (DeviceHarddiskVolume1WindowsSystem32msiexec.exe) .. some registry error was generated. It seems like msiexec is some sort of bootup tool having contact with my HarddiskVolume1?
If I left my computer for 30mins, when I came back, it lags. While lagging, I opened Task Manager. The RAM usage its only 2.8Gb out of 8GB. If I use it for 2 mins, it back to normal...what is that?
lately i have been having alot of trouble with my pc, it crashes for about 0.5 seconds every 5 to 10 seconds and makes a weird buzzing noise which has different pitches depending on the sound of the video/game. this is only when viewing Internet videos or playing games. the games i play i am 100% sure i can handle with my pc since i have played them before this problem. if it helps, my graphics card is my brothers old graphics card which he didnt have any trouble with but my old graphics card (ati radeon hd 5670) was having a different kind of lag problem which made almost any game play slow, even 2d games. it can be stopped if i keep restarting my computer and in the end it will stop lagging for like an hour or so but then the lagging starts again please help! i will leave my computer specs below.

I use a normal HP mouse, it has been working fine for ages but recently it now and then stops working for a few seconds and then works fine again. I play Call of Duty 4 so it is very annoying to lose because of that. I looked into my device manager and for some reason it shows up 2 mouse drivers. Just uninstalled both and plugged my mouse back in. I have done this before and the second mouse driver seems to be coming back all the time.
I have a brand new Acer Aspire and the problem is: When I'm playing games like Mafia II or GTA IV i get something like 17-20FPS on lowest settings! On highest the games are unplayable because of lag.I have tested my PC with this benchmark: Can You RUN It | Can I run that game | Game system requirements and it says my PC meets RECOMMENDED requirements of both Mafia II and GTA IV What's the problem?? Please help. My e-mail is: silver.chain92@gmail.com
i keep having these small freezes for like 2-3 sec then unfreeze again but i can move my mouse while the "freeze" is happening. this is very annoying when i try to watch a movie or playin games like WoW or left 4 dead 2. this freeze started happening 2 weeks ago and ive reinstalled my comp to try to fix this and ive downloaded the newest drivers from the asus support page. note this is a new laptop Asus G53SW i bought it about 1 and a half months ago these freezes came out of nowhere only thing i can think of that might be causing these problems are my hard drive.
I have run AVG & MalwareBytes multiple times and they find nothing.CPU is only running at between 1% & 50% when I look. And I have only used about half of my memory.
My Facebook lag so much. It always go on "not responding" status and keeps on lagging while I'm chatting. And some of my applications go wrong sometimes. I used HiJackThis but I can't do some cleaning because I know, there's something that shouldn't be deleted in order to keep your system running. I'll post the HiJackThis results and some of system specs.
I have completely reformatted and reinstalled my windows 7 OS on a new quad-core 4GB computer. internet explorer 8 continues to lag badly and use up nearly 100% cpu when more than one tab is opened. is the browser really that bad, or is there another possible problem? i am totally OK with firefox, i just am concerned that the problem is more than IE.
Recently, I have reinstalled my OS Windows 7 due to Windows freezing on Welcome screen. Why it was freezing on Welcome screen I don't know, but I have already fixed this problem, so this isn't my main problem. I want to note that before reinstalling Windows all my games were running perfectly and smoothly without lagging or freezing. But now, when my OS is reinstalled, games run improperly and with lags. Yes, this problem isn't weird at all, but the strangest thing is that I can make games run smooth and without lags, BUT NOT PERMANENTLY! Let's say that I want to play Sniper Elite V2. I turn on my PC, start Sniper Elite V2 and doesn't matter on, which settings or resolution I'm playing, it still lags. Okay, I exit from the game and go to this game's shortcut properties, then I check the box and set the compatibility mode for Windows XP ( Service Pack 3 ) and start the game one more time. The game runs smoothly, without lags on maximum settings and resolution! The problem solved and everything will be fine... NOT AT ALL! I turn off or restart my PC and start Sniper Elite V2 again. Bump! The game heavily lags and no matter, which resolution or settings I set, it still lags and runs improperly. Then I go to game's shortcut properties again and uncheck the compatibility mode box. I start the game and it is running smoothly, without lags on maximum resolution again. I restart or turn off my PC, start the game and it lags again! This problem is like a tale without the ending! Now, let's say that I want to play TES V: Skyrim. I start the game and it lags like all other my games. Compatibility mode method doesn't work on TES V : Skyrim, so when the game is running I press Alt+Tab and start Task Manager. Then I go to the Processes tab and then find the game process. I set the priority of this game to low and get back to the game. It doesn't lag on maximum settings. Okay, then I want to play this game instantly without lagging, so I find the code which lets me to run the game with low priority instantly ( %comspec% /c start /low AppName.exe ). I do the thing which I needed to run a game in a low priority and then start a game. Bump again! It heavily lags! While running TES V : Skyrim game, I Alt+Tab and start Task Manager, then I go to processes and see that the game is running on a low priority, but still lags. So, I change the game's priority from Low to Normal and get back to the game. IT DOESN'T LAG AND THERE IS NO FPS DROP! Yes, it is a strange thing... But that's not all. I know a method which allows me to play games without lags or FPS drops. I go to Msconfig > Boot > Advanced options and check the maximum memory box. This allows me to play all my games without lag or FPS drop, except The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim ( but it isn't very important that I can't play TES V : Skyrim without lag with this method ). I can play my games without lag after PC restart or startup, when the maximum memory box is checked. Yes, but then appears other weird problem. When the maximum memory box in the msconfig is checked, I go to the My Computer properties and see that there is a problem with my RAM. Total installed memory is 4.00 GB, but only just 3.46 GB are usable!
1. Why I can't play games normal, like I played when I had previous Windows 7 OS? ( Note that on previous Windows 7 most of my PC games were running smoothly and without lags on maximum settings and resolution )
2. Why, when the maximum memory box in Msconfig is checked, my PC uses not all installed RAM (3.46 GB) ? ( Note that, when the maximum memory box in Msconfig is unchecked, my PC uses all installed RAM [4.00 GB] )
3. Is it possible to fix these problems? (Play games without lags, like I did on my previous Windows 7 OS [or] play the games without lags when the maximum memory box in msconfig is checked and make (force) my PC use all my installed 4.00 GB RAM (Not 3.46 GB!).

I have an Sony Vaio S Series with i7, 8GB RAM and Crucial M4 256GB SSD. Whenever I transfer an large file via USB3.0 to my External Hard Drive, the speed sometimes lags.Like the transfer speed would be around 100MB/S, but it would stay at that speed for some seconds and the status indicator would not move, just sits thereThen after the few seconds, it would continue transferring at USB3.0 speeds.I have updated the Intel USB 3.0 eXensible Host Driver and still freezes.I also tried my USB 2.0 port and the speed freezes and status bar freezes as well.hen the speed is freezing, I see the External Hard Drive indicator light copying but the status indicator is not moving. My laptop also take an long time to load Chrome when this occurs...Also, something else I noticed.
When I copy an file from External Hard Drive to my SSD, there is no lag/freeze. But the speed is slower. When I copy an file from SSD to External Hard Drive, the speed goes up to around 200MB/Sec, freeze/lag, then continues and sometimes the speeds drops, and then continue, and then lag/freeze, and then drops. Always around the 5-10 second mark, the status bar freezes and finishes it off.I tried copying the same 4.86GB file to the External Hard Drive (WD 500GB My Passport and Hitachi 500GB HDD with Enclosure, both USB3.0) to another laptop with USB3.0 and there is no lag/freeze, but the speed is slower..
I have an odd issue, that from my knowledge has only started recently. That is that my left mouse button lags quite a bit. This is most notable when i drag windows, as it would randomly select another window under the one i was dragging. Recently, it hasnt been clicking properly, i would have to hold the button down for a shot while (only a very shot moment, but it is very annoying and noticable) for it to click. I have an A4 Tech x7 lasermouse that has been working perfectly for years, it is only in the last few days that this problem has been occuring. I have ran virus scans and checked mouse settings in control panel without success.
Essentially I am getting seemingly random spikes in my cpu usage where it ramps up to 100% and windows basically freezes for an extended period of time. Sometimes I simply have 1 google chrome tab open with no other apps actively running in the foreground and I get these cpu spikes. I just did a clean install of windows 7 to try and eradicate this and it persists. I am at a loss as to what the problem is. What is odd is even though the cpu usage spikes at 100% my available memory is almost always nearly around 50% still. So I am just not sure what is happening.
(unfortunately to no avail) High CPU usage, programs crashing, windows hanging - Tech Support Forum
Anyway like I said I eventually just did a clean install but the problem persists. Since the clean install I have not noticed and flash problems with chrome (as per the tech support forum thread) just random cpu spikes.
I am facing this strange problem ever since I upgraded my PC. After using any web browser (I have tested IE8, FF4, FF5, FF6, Chrome 12, Opera 10) my PC starts becoming laggy, visually. Even the browser shows visible changes like the animation when opening a new tab, menu fade outs etc. Is it because of running 32 bit browser on a 64 bit OS??? I do doubt that though...
m having an issue frequently with my hp pavilion dv6 laptop.the thing is the cursor starts to freeze and becomes so slow which leads to a system crash.the system begins to hang/cursor freezes,at the same time i can hear the cpu fan sound high.and wen i restart it,it works fine for some sessions.can any tell me wat to do?
I've been having this problem for the past couple of months and it's driving me insane. I've searched for hours on end without any luck of a fix.The problem is that my mouse lags (or stutters) every 5 seconds. The lag can sometimes be so bad that the mouse completely stops working for a few seconds.I've gone through 3 mice and they've all had the same problem so it can't be because of the mouse. The mouse I'm currently using is the Logitech Anywhere MX.
My computer lags every few minutes: the cursor stopped moving the sound repeats the bit it is playing at that moment and the screen freeze for up to 3 seconds, and continue to run after without having any signs of error.
My PC has a problem where it starts to lag, the mouse moves slowly and sound is crackly but before i can do anything it crashes the I have to unplug it and start again. What is this? It is very annoying when im in the middle of something.
I'm running an original Windows 7 (I preordered it) and I've updated all graphic drivers, but whenever I want to close a window, Windows Aero lags for a quick second and closes the window, however whenever I minimize a window, it closes down nicely with the effect. Why is this occurring?
My PC Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit 3.5GB Ram Intel Core 2 Duo 2.20GHz NVIDIA 8400 GS 512MB DDR2
I've updated everything, it gets annoying when it lags when it closes.
I have started using the RC after having used the offiial beta for only a week (it kept giving me BSODs and I was too lazy to figure out why).
With this build I have noticed one thing, and as I have looked through this forum for a while to see if anyone else had it, and didn't find anything, I will assume it is not a 'feature'. While playing xvid media (television shows from the US) with windows media player, I notice at random times that the image freezes (the sound continues). After a while (between 10 to 30 seconds) the image unfreezes and starts playing catchup. This can happen while I'm doing something else, but also when I'm not doing a thing, and only WMP is opened. I first thought it might be codec issue, so I installed a Windows 7 codec pack (though I usually hate these things). Unfortunately it hasn't solved my problem.
I've also noticed that it takes explorer about 20 to 50 seconds to start up. I don't know if that's strange, but it seems like a long time to me. Even if it's already open on a different folder, and I open another instance, it takes this long. Only if I browse within the already opened window does it not seem to lag.
The only thing I can think of is that it might have something to do with my virus scanner? I have ACG installed. I also have daemon tools running, even though it says that there might be compatibility issues.
I've been using this windows 7 desktop for over a year, and everything has been fine until the past few days. When I minimize a program or when i maximize it when it is minimized, the program lags. For example, when I am running firefox and when i click the minimize button, instead of firefox minimizing in a swift motion, it minimizes slowly in other words, lagging. Also, when I play Warcraft the game lags. It lags in a really strange way, almost as if the game is drifting around when I move my mouse. Usually when games lag, the controls you make respond slowly, or it is in a jerky kind of way. I've tried restarting my computer many times, and all is well for the first 15 mins or so, before this lag kicks in.
Past couple of months my computer has been slowing down/lagging. It seems to happen when I am streaming, sometimes it happens when I run a game. What it does is the screen completely freezes and the sound is like slowing down to make the voices/music incomprehensible. Sometimes it will recover and run normally again. Other times it will slow then completely stop working, in which time I have to hard shutdown the computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both of my browsers, chrome and firefox. (And when I say uninstall I mean I did a complete wipe of all registry items and anything related to the programs). That seemed to work for about a month and then today my computer lagged then stopped working.

To reinstall windows 7 you just need the disk . Try updating your BIOS first your system should play crysis 2 smooth as butter . After that I would do a fresh install of window's 7 go into your BIOS select you dvd drive as first boot choice save and exit .put the cd in the drive and restart your pc don't forget to press enter !
Lately I've noticed that my laptop starts acting choppy at times. It lags or chops whenever I watch a video, play a game, sometimes when I'm doing nothing. I have windows 7.
Basically, when listening to music, every 30 seconds or so, the music distorts pretty bad and my mouse will skip across the screen. This may be unrelated, but in order to power on my computer, not only do I have to press the power button, I have to go to the back of the computer and toggle the power supply switch off/on very quickly in order for the computer to even boot.
All the games work perfectly when the charger plugged in but when I plug it off all the games start to move slow and lag, even when its on high performance.
