I have a strange problem and I can't find solution on internet. My 2 years old daughter was watching cartoons on my Laptop, she got excited and start hitting buttons on the keyboard. I don't know what happened she some how activated an option that I don't know how to turn off. The main keyboard keys are not working instead it use the extra keys arrows, symbols etcI have turned off the computer, took off battery, search in control panel for option, but I am unable to make main keys to work.
I have a Dell Vostro 1050 with 2Gb RAM and 320 HDD space. i bought this laptop new and it worked for just one day and the following day when i started it in the morning after like 5 minutes, nothing was responding. i mean the curse wasn't moving, the key board keys not working and nothing was responding till when i had to long press the power button and turned it off. Turning it back on it worked for the next 30 minutes, then it froze again. i have tried changing the RAM chips and Used Different HDD's but all in vain.
All function keys (1st row on keyboard), several number keys (6, 8, 9 on the 2nd row) and the left Shift key do not response; I checked keyboard driver is updated, connection good; I tried troubleshoot hardware and devices but problem not fixed, seems nothing detected I tried System Restore, but the blue screen saying files and settings being restored stayed for an hour without an end, so I had to stop it?
I just had to do a reinstall of my Window's 7 and since have had a problem with 2 keys on my keyboard. When I use the apostrophe key, nothing happens, but when I type something after, it appears. It's no big deal really, but I'm rather anal and it just bugs me when something isn't working right.
I have used search here at SF and gone through the tutorials, but can't find anything that quite matches. I tried to update driver's but the little box on the screen tells me driver's are up to date. I checked Device Manager and it doesn't indicate any problem. I checked Keyboard in Control Panel and it says the device is working properly.
the only keys that do work are the three volume keys. Also I have a media center remote that came with my computer that does work for all the functions including play/pause. Can anyone help me fix the media keys on my keyboard?
i have an interesting problem. my keyboard's number keys on the top row sometimes do not work except for the 5 and 6 key. so i unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it worked!... for all of 2 minutes.
I just bought a new Saitek Eclipse III keyboard. There is no software to install or anything and runs of windows defaults. However, none of the normal alphabet keys or number keys work on windows 7. Although the multi-media keys do work on the keyboard.Yet, the keyboard work perfectly on my windows XP pc.
yesterday my laptop had some problems i have windows 7 starter, some keyboard keys don't work (h,p,q,esc, backspace et.) also the Bluetooth didn't appear on window tray, so i thought some virus are in my laptop, so i decided to format and upgade to windows 7 ultimate. i installed Windows 7 ultimate with no problem but the keyboard keys still not working, wireless card is gone also bluetooth. i installed drivers but still no luck, on device manager no wireless card is detected but i have Atheros wirelss card.
This morning I was using my mum's notebook when several keys stopped working (O, W, R, T, U, ', C, V & BACKSPACE).Although some keys work, they also jam when not being pressed (D & N). I have to hit another key to stop it and when I've not clicked a text box it makes the mouse freeze. I tried restarting and a Windows Diagnostic Memory Test was presented as an option upon start-up which I did, nothing was detected. Device manager shows the driver is working.I am currently using On-Screen Keyboard.
In am using Dell N5010 after i press the function keys the keys below that line that is numerical keys 1 to 10 and - & + (except backspace) are not working kindly advice what will be the reason
The internal keyboard and touch pad of my laptop have stopped working suddenly. The laptop was running but I did not use it for maybe 5 minutes. Then the touch pad and the keyboard did not do anything anymore. Rebooting did not help. I use external devices now.In the device manager the devices are only shown when hidden devices are displayed. Both devices have a yellow exclamation point and error code 24 in details (device not present or not working). Replacing the drivers with a compatible one does not help. windows XP: Laptop Keyboard Not Working?

right now I'm currently trying to find out whats wrong with a keyboard that is on a laptop, after the computer starts there are some script errors, I don't know exactly what they are but I ran combo fix without safe mode and restarted the scripts went away...and it started working after restarting a couple times it started to work then restarted more the scripts came back and the keyboard stopped, even in safe mode but after five or so minutes the keyboard was able to type again, I checked the device managers and everything is update and no error, I ran a combo fix and have the report if you guys want to see it let me know, Its an HP DV6 series with 64-bit windows 7 OS, I'm stumped I have no idea whats up, I'm ready to just put in the recovery disks and see whats up, but he has like 250 gigs worth of files Games etc, Can I back it up to a hard drive and install go back to where it was normally or can that be a problem?
Last night my HP laptop was working just fine with zero issues. Today I turned it on and my keyboard didn't work and also saying that no battery was detected. Now if I turn it on with a power cord attached I can remove the power cord and the laptop stays turned on, I can also shut the lid and the laptop will stay powered on. However if I use the shut down function or turn it off by the power switch it will not power back up without the power cord attached. The keyboard just refuses to work none of the keys work. No fn key no alt key no ctrl key nothing. I can't turn wireless on or off using the F key, however the on-screen keyboard works fine, and so does a keyboard that is plugged in through usb.I have checked the drivers which says it is working properly, I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, which didn't fix it.I Googled this problem and read that a bios update might fix this, I updated it and nothing as well as doing the usual virus and malware scans with the likes of malwarebytes and MSE.
Basically i installed some updates for nvidia to help my devices catch up with my win 7 pro install. Now however i have the issue that my ps/2 keyboard and touch pad mouse has stopped working and i'm having to use USB to actually use my laptop. Has anyone else found a solution to this at all. I have checked device manager and it say code 10 for the mouse not working and code 19 for the keyboard not working.
For background info i have a Dell Studio XPS running 64 bit Win 7 pro.
The keys on my friend's laptop running Windows 7 x64 are directly working as shortcuts..!!! i.e if u press R on home screen directly RUN Dialog Box opens and hence it's become a head ache as we're unable to use the keyboard normally..!!! How to restore normal operation of the keys..??
I have exchanged two keys on my laptop keyboard .... (Windows 7)" was exchanged with the @ ........ as I was used to using a UK keyboard. I am passing that laptop to my daughter, as I have a new one. I set the keyboard back from UK English to English Australia. but it doesn't seem to have changed the keys.
I've an Acer Revo running Windows 7 as my HTPC.Everytime I type certain keys on my wired Acer keyboard it displays numbers instead of letters or it displays the wrong letter. This happens for certain keys e.g. when I press 'u' I get '4' and so on. Why is this happening? I understand you press certain function keys together it can change the keyboard settings. Is this true and how do I turn it off?I know it's not the computer as I normally used a remote connection to access the PC and typing this way works fine. I only have this problem when I use the computer directly with its wired keyboard.
since the day i have windows 7, i started to notice sometimes my microsoft ergonomic keyboard 4000 v1.0 right side keypads close to ``enter key`` wont work properly. for example the question mark turns into. but everytime when i restart the computer, problem solved. i tested out with my other computers with windows xp for a few days, no issues at all.
I’m having some problems with keys sticking with windows 7 while playing games .
While in-game I have found that some keys "stick", the keys are NOT physically sticking on the keyboard but the effect is the same.
The effect is most prominent in 1st person shooters. When running around the keys will seem to stick. When letting go of a key (e.g. WASD, arrow keys, Ctrl and other common command keys) it is as though the key is still depressed for another 2ish seconds.
I first noticed this in old games such as Original Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena (yes I am aware how sad it is to still be playing these games) but with further investigation I have similar problems with more modern games such as WarHammer 40,000 Dawn of War (plus expansions) although this seems only to be with command keys such as the Ctrl key.
I originally noticed this with the windows 7 RC version but assumed this was a bug. Since I have now upgraded to the released Windows 7 PRO I still find the same problems....
Anyone else discovered these problems?
The keys are NOT physically sticking on the keyboard
I have tried using another keyboard
and since writing this I have noticed the problem with the Ctrl key is apparent in FireFox aswel but I am unsure if this is a problem with other web browsers.
