Internet Zone In Properties Inaccessible - Cannot Install Any Software
Jun 1, 2011
I'm running windows 7 ultimate and have had no problems until a few days ago when the os stopped me installing software. The error message is 'These files can't be opened' 'Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened'. I've restored the computer to a previous date without success. I've run a virus scan which found 2 Trojans and a malicious software. These have been removed. The main problem - apart from not being able to install any programs is that I cannot change the internet properties as some items appear barred. I really don't want to format the hard drive and start again.

I have installed Windows 7 next to my old Windows XP (so it's a dualboot situation). I have 2 physical HDD's (320 GB each) and 6 logical drives (2 + 4 primary partitions, all NTFS). After installing Windows 7, two of 4 partitions in one hdd have become inaccessible - disk manager still shows them, but I can't neither set a drive letter, nor view properties. I get the following error:
"The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by usin the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart computer."
Both of the inaccessible partitions are fine in Windows XP. Any ideas or solutions ?

Have a Windows 7 64bit Compaq laptop. Tried to change time and set the time zone, but nothing works. Changed to the correct time in bios, but still cannot get a time zone "installed" It says your current time zone is not regognized. Please select a valid time zone, but the change time zone button does nothing. Tried to set additional clocks but NO time zones are listed in the drop menu. Also can't change date and time option the "ok" button is grayed out. Any help would be fantastic.

So I have about 800 pc's that we are deploying and going to image with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I have only used Windows 7 sysprep a few times and have been working on getting a new answer file working on it.I have also everything working the way I want to. The only screen I want the user to be prompted for is the computer name screen. Right now it asks for the computer name like it should but also comes up with the time and timezone screen with the correct info so I have to click next.I have made sure to put in the correct time zone info and everything but it keeps coming up with the time zone page.

I just did a fresh install of Win7 Pro 64bit and it won't allow me to change my time zone or region. It has the time zone set to International Date Line West and the Region is set to Africa. When I try to change it it just rolls back. I tried installing Win7 Ult x64 and the same thing happened. This is really getting frustrating and I can't seem to find anyr it.I checked my BIOS and the date and time are correct for where I am, ESTWhen I try to install a program like Avast where you choose the language it automatically selects some other language like an Arabic or something that doesn't even use English letters.

I have a bigger problem now... I had a lot of restarts since a unknown problem appeared (what makes my windows freeze + restart all the time). Beacuse I restart my computer each day when he freezes, i have now problems like files and folders being corrupted and inaccessible. Can't access a folder or open program. It even says that some .exe program is corrupted or web browser too... but i can open 99% of them only not 1 or 2. I think that reinstalling my win is the only way out of these many problems i have now beacuse restarting my computer each day by 2-3 times isn't a solution.

Previous language settings default English United States. Selected and installed Greek, Spanish latin Am erica, French Canada and Russian. Click EN icon on desk top taskbar and all language icons displayed and selectable. OPne day the EN icon disappeared and languages had to be reselected. English default still works but EN icon not present when no other languages available. I went to keyboard change in control panel and reselected all the languages previously accessible. However, the icons will not appear on the desktop taskbar and the languages while displayed in the control panel, those icons can not be used to gain access to the languages they represent.

I encrypted my 4GB brand new Flash Drive with Bitlocker to Go in Windows 7 Enterprise (RC), ejected it, restarted my Windows 7 PC, and everything still worked. I tried opening it in XP and it was read-only and required my password to even look at it. That was expected. What I didn't expect, after ejecting it from the XP machine, was that it would be:
INACCESSIBLE, UNREADABLE, and IMPOSSIBLE to FORMAT after that!
No matter what PC I put it in now, I get a message saying that I must format the drive and nothing else. The drive is worthless. I when I right click in Windows 7, there is no BitLocker option. Before I throw it away, does someone know how to FIX THIS?

Ok, another Network problem I'm having is that the 9 shares that I have on my Windows 7 machine are shared among a small network with a couple of Vista machines, 1 Windows 7 machine and a couple of XP machines and even one Mac. Every once in a while when users on the XP machines try to use the shares, they are prompted with a username and password, and no matter what is entered they are not allowed access, even a good account and password on the Windows 7 machine.
They are told that the shares cannot be found, however they can still ping the Windows 7 machine, and they previously used the shares for days without problems. A reboot of the XP machine has no effect, however rebooting my Windows 7 (then manually readding the shares) clears it up. Again, WHY

Since xp the same ol' same ol'. Why after trouble shooting and getting access to my network folders does windows ALWAYS revert back to inaccessibility? You get it working for a short time and then it goes back to not being able to transfer simple files. This has been driving me nuts for years.
Two os's Windows 7 64 to and from 32bit could transfer files for about a week.

A program I use (neuro programmer) used to work quite well on my system but now when ever I try to load it, I get this error:[CODE]This obviously is related to me having sandboxie installed on my computer and then removing it incorrectly. I tried re-installing sandboxie and neuro programmer numerous times.I have tried to locate the folder but it doesn't exist on my systemI have run a registry cleaner (which I now know isn't the best) run several different spy/ad/malware scanners with nothing coming up.I haven't tested all my programs, but I am sure this could be a problem for a few of them.Is there anyway I can get this program to start? Is it a registry error? I looked in regedit and couldn't see anything really linked to neuro programmer (not that I am really aware of what to look for

When I restarted my computer after running a check of the hard drive, Igot a message that read "C:windowssystem32configsystemprofileDesktop refers to a location that isunavailable." The desktop had reverted to a default appearance and all the icons on it except for the recycle bin were gone. Under the Start Menu, the only program listed was Solitaire, though if I clicked "All Programs" at the bottom it did list them all. I read that it might be a registry issue, so I downloaded and ran "Free Windows Registry Repair", but when I restarted the computer afterwards I saw it did not fix the problem. I also read it could be an issue with "hkey_local_machinesoftwaremicrosoftwindows NTcurrentversionprofilelist". That did not come up when I ran the Registry Repair program, and I cannot get to regedit, because Run does not appear as an option when I type run in the search bar in the Start Menu.

removed the drive from the enclosure and got a SATA>USB dock thing for it. it didn't appear in the Computer with my internal drives but was visible in diskmgmt as "Healthy (Active, Recovery Partition)" but with the File System column empty and no letter assigned. right click only offers a menu with "Help" on it. used diskpart to assign a letter and it now appears in Computer but says all its capacity (except ~250mb) is free and, when I open it, there are no files to see, only a folder "Recovery", which is empty. in diskmgmt it still has no letter assigned. used a program called Recuva and it shows me some small files but nothing I recognise.

I tried to bring my computer out of hibernation and was confronted with:Windows failed to start. A Recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your langugae settings, and then click next
3. Click "repair your computer."

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessibleRecently I shrank one of the partition on the data drive in order to enlarge the other partition on the data drive. The enlarged data drive contains the folders of some installed games but the system disk is separate and was not altered in this way. I'm pretty sure that I hibernated and recovered from hibernation at least once since that change was made.Could it be that the OCZ drive has developed a fault? Or would it then be unable to even display this message? When I attempt to repair the installation using the Windows 7 disc, the operating system isn't listed. I don't think that there are any drivers for me to load - I think it's supposed to be automatic (the driver must be a part of Windows own included set).

i'm running an msi cx420 that's 6 months old, windows 7 32 bit. this problem only surfaced after i defragged my laptop and updated MSE and restarted. to be clear, my laptop isn't of much importance but my data is what i'm worried about. edit: also, i've tried to burn the windows 7 system repair disc on a USB as follows, but with no luck. i'm running windows xp on this computer and if anyone could also help me on this i'd be much obliged.

I have an Intel i5, Windows 7 Ultimate, and an SSD as my main drive and 2 SATA HDDs.One day, I got a BSOD appeared and my PC restarted restarted. After that, the following error appeared: Window failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1.Insert ....
2. .... ... status: 0xc000000e info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible
Also I noticed that BIOS only detected one of HDDs, not SSD neither other HDD.Sometimes, Windows can be started, but it doesn't work very well. When trying to copy data from F: to an external USB, it copies for a short time and then Windows 7 becomes unresponsive. This also happens in safe mode. After several reboots, now Windows will not boot and I get the error "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible." And the BIOS only detects the SSD.
UPDATE: my disks:
HDDs

Seagate ST31000528AS
SSD

I have 2 dell laptops running off the same router and have been working fine for the last 6 months. One of the laptops has all of a sudden switched to saying limited access on the proset icon. After reading threads etc. I have re booted the laptop & router, tried connected by wire with no avail. The machine is running very slow and I am wondering if this isn't the only fault. As I wanted to try re installing the wireless driver but I cannot get onto the uninstall a program window - it just doesn't load.
