How do I know which installation order of printers by registry? Example:
There are the following printers in my system:
EPSON TX115 Series - Bob
EPSON TX115 Series - Mary
EPSON TX115 Series - Carl
Which was installed first? And which was last? I need to know through the registry.
After i get windows 7 installed i was wondering if there is any particular order for installing drivers or does it not really matter?

My question is: what is the ideal installation order of drivers, updates and programs in a clean Windows 7 64 bit installation?
For example, first chipset drivers and then lan, of first do updates and then drivers etc...
Mounted .iso image and proceeded to do a clean install, got till the end of the installation and an error saying: "Windows could not update registry data in the installation" popped up and reverted my setup back to Windows XP.
I don't have DVD burner so I don't have the option of burning the .iso to a DVD. I tried setting up a different partition through 'Partition Magic' but was not able to.

I've tracked the problem down to a driver - CTMMount.sys which was installed by a recent installation of Comodo Time Machine - which has since been uninstalled but doesnt look like the uninstallation has worked correctly.
Therefore I could do with editing the registry/startup procedure so that this file doesnt attempt to load and then I can get back into Windows 7
I have installed the following printers: Epson LX-300+II, HP Laserjet 1010, HP Colour Lasterjet 1515, Canon IP5200.
The printers work and are all displayed from Word, IE, etc, but only one printer shows up in Windows 7 Devices & Printers - usually whichever is selected as default printer. If I remove the displayed printer, it shows me another one. When I first installed, it showed me all the printers, but problems started after I had to remove and reinstall my printers.
My problem is that while installing windows 7 the error "windows could not update registry data in the installation" keeps poping up during the "Installing updates" step, right after the "Installing feature" is completed. I downloaded the several iso from this and this webpages. Also tried USB and DVD (at 1X speed). Found great help on the SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation and Clean Install Windows 7 guides, I follow them every time I try an installation. But doesn't matter what I do the error "windows could not update registry data in the installation" keeps poping up.Since I have to keep using the laptop for work I installed Ubuntu 12.10 to finish some projects (worked fine for over a month, no problems) but now I have some days off and I want to fix this. Other things I have tried that didn't worked
*Using only 1 Ram slot
*Make sure that the HDD is first in boot priority
*Install Win XP
*Iso without ei.cfg
I'm running a Dell XPS Studio 15 L502x laptop, so no RAID.
I've unistalled Amd Driver from Device Manager, Unistalled Catalyst software and ran Driver Sweeper. There is only 3 registeries that the Driver Sweeper CAN'T delete and these are under SYSTEM folder. I've tried to change user privilegies but this far I've not succeeded.

(I already read and understood your message: don't use those tools and stay out of your registry. A lesson I learned too late, unfortunately.)My computer rebooted and after a couple of minutes I noticed the message: " failure configuring windows features reverting changes ". I managed to bypass this loop by running in safe mode and recover my computer to a restore point in the past. This only worked partially: I get windows to run in normal mode but I get this message: "system failed while restoring the registry from the restore point. Restore point damaged or was deleted during restore". So it didn't restore but I can get into my windows now.So I don't get the 'reverting change loop' anymore, so I can access my computer but what's the mess? Well my computer is slow as hell.Like mentioned above, I already looked around on this forum and wrote down what I already tried. [code] My computer is terrible slow because of a registry defrag/optimization of a registry tool (in combination with windows update) --> I need to find a way to get back my old registry files but system recovery ain't working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Home Premium 64bit Control Panel -> Devices and Printers show some printers (PDF995 and Microsoft XPS Document Writer) but it does not show my HP OfficeJet 4500. Applications (like IE or Firebird) show it in the list of printer and can print to it.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I am running in the Administrator account and both the laptop and the printer on the same WiFi router. The printer showed up in Device Manager after I clicked Display Hidden Devices (kind of silly to hide devices from the Administrator.)
Windows7, IE8 History Browsing: "View By Order Visited Today"
Instead History will show Recents Pages by X pages (Recent FIFO method), it shows by "Today".
Every time when it is 00:00 (midnight), it resets all the history I've had.
I want to change it to "View By Order Visited" or "View By Order Visited for couple days", instead of "View By Order Visited Today" (Browsing History displays only for one day), So that If it pass midnight - I could still see the last links.
I dont if can but like my pictures folder I want to put pictures in a certain order but I dont think Windows 7 lets you do that does it?

Stay with me I have 2 Hanns G 23" monitors and a HP 24", I would like the HP to be the centre one, in which I do most of my work, the other 2 which I hope can be left and right of centre, going with the graphics card at the moment, I have screen (1) and screen (2) it was simple setup, but I have to push my mouse to the right to get into my 2nd screen thats sits on my left, ok I could place this screen on my right, it's not the point, when I get the 3rd screen will I have the flexibility to make the centre screen i.e the one that will hold my icons etc number 1 screen, then in a perfect world push the mouse to the right and I am in the RH screen, or push the mouse to the left (from centre screen) and I am in the LH screen?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Acer laptop which had a corrupt Windows installation, so I couldn't boot from the hard drive.The user doesn't have recovery discs and the Alt F10 Recovery option wasn't available, even though the hidden recovery partition is there PQSERVICE.In order to get to the files, a copy of Windows XP Pro was installed, but it won't activate - that that isn't a problem for me as I will remove it before the 30 days.I was given a recovery disc set designed for another computer, but - although it didn't work - the next time I booted the laptop it ran the eRecovery program and restored Windows 7 onto it, which is fantastic !!My problem is that the system is still booting to Windows XP which is on the D partition, and not to Windows 7 which is on the E partition. There is another partition called C called "SYSTEM" but it contains nothing apart from a hidden Program files folder !How do I tell the computer to boot from the recovered E partition so I can use Windows 7 and create the Recovery discs needed ? Then I can remove the Windows XP installation that I don't want or need.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I originally installed 7 on my dad's PC, I disconnected the other 2 hard drives (I did not want the boot selection screen popping up all the time). Everything has been working fine (he uses XP, so I use the BIOS to select the hard drive boot order when I want to boot into 7). Yesterday I disconnected the Windows 7 hard drive, so that I could clone his XP installation over to the secondary hard drive in the machine (the primary & secondary drives are 80 GB SATA units, while the Windows 7 drive is a 30 GB IDE unit).
When I was finished, I shut down the machine & hooked the Windows 7 hard drive back up. For some odd reason, the machine boots into 7 no matter which drive is selected first in the BIOS boot order. I cannot figure this one out. With the Windows 7 drive disconnected, the machine boots into XP just fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this to happen?? I cloned the XP drive once before & did not have this problem(I do it every couple of months so that he has a complete image should the main hard drive fail).
I have 3 hdd. All of them are sata and i can see the corect order showed in BIOS

View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst of all sorry if there has been any similar question in the past.I am having a really agravating problem: my motherboard's bios keeps rearranging the boot order for the hard disks on every power-on cycle. I always turn the power off at night from the PSU swith to protect from spikes. If i don't do that, the boot order remains as i set it. The problem itself is: when pc is powered on, the RAID set i use for windows and games doesn't show up at all not even in the boot device selection menu F8. So i have to reset the system and only then can i use the F8 boot menu to select the RAID and use the pc normally, and the RAID is always the last option in the list. To make things worse, the wireless keyboard i use doesn't always work on the first attempt - probably legacy USB detection glitch - but that's ok i can live with that one as long as i am able to use it in Windows.The motherboard is Asus P5N-E SLI. Also i did verify the CMOS battery with a voltmeter and it shows over 3V so it's in good shape. Makes sense it be good since i've only had the board a few months, it's practically new even though not a new model. I also checked with Asus website for newer BIOS but not a chance, the motherboard is not even in production any more.

Is there actually a specific boot order or is it based more on what you're using it for or something like that? View 4 Replies View RelatedI had Windows 7 Home Premium put on my HP Pavilion a6500f last week. I had this same problem with Vista 64-bit but not with Windows XP. I have my file "Sort by" set to Name; Ascending but when I open a file it always moves to the end position when I close it. As an example say I have a folder named Book A. Inside that folder are files named Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, and Chapter 4 in that order. If I open and edit Chapter 2 when I close it the files are now in this order: Chapter 1, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, and Chapter 2. How do I make the files stay in the proper sort order? It's very irritating to have to move files back into their correct order every time.
