May 5, 2009I am trying to figure how to remove the lock icon over some of my folders. It appear if I share one of my folder with the Homegroup and unshare it later. I think it is because when I share it with my homegroup, the Everyone/Cooperation (I'm not sure to use the good word, I'm using the french version) option disapear and I can't add it anymore.By default :Once shared and unshared : (can't add Everyone - Cooperation, which cause I presume the lock on the folder)My only option is to share it again with the Homegroup or with Everyone with Read instead of Cooperation. I don't want this folder to be shared anymore.

Dec 30, 2011I downloaded a 5 day trial of their product. I made an encrypted "Locker" as they call it, and copied some files into it. Next day I could not open it. Message is: "Invalid Locker. Locker file is either corrupted or not a valid Locker file." I created a second one, and it is OK so far. Anyone else have this problem?2nd problem is I chose that the lockers be closed when I log off. They aren't. Any other user, even "Guest" can rifle thru my encrypted files.

Jul 17, 2011I am using folder lock 6.0 to lock folder on my two laptops. I have a WD External hard drive. I want to lock (password protect) some folders on the portable/external harddrive. I don't want aany encryption because I may forgot the password and may not be able to recover data. I also don't want to lock complete partition. I just want to make it hidden/password protected from casual users. Is it possible using folder lock? It has a portability feature but it requires to transfer all data to a locker. I have a very large amount of data which I want to lock (~100GB). Folder lock has a feature to lock any folder on hard drive but it dosn't work when it is external/portable hard drive.

Aug 14, 2010I use a program known as Folder Lock 6.4.2 and previously whenever I burn the "FLK" file using Any version of Nero ((Currently using Nero Version 10)), When I go to open up the Burnt Data Dvd to put in my password info into the Folder Lock program, I get the error message "Mount Not Working. Due to some reason encryption not working. Please restart your computer to resolve this issue or select another locker top open.". I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything more than once, Folder Lock 6.4.2, Nero 7, Nero 10. When I switch over to Windows XP, I put in the password it opens up just fine. I am using Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

For some reason, when changing users to my wife's profile, the desktop has to be prepared each time - as a temporary profile. The folder location has moved from Users/wife to Users/Users/wife and has a lock icon on it. I have tried moving the entire folder as administrator and received a not responding message.Short of a restore in which I will lose data is there a way to 'import' her profile under a new user and then delete the corrupted profile?

May 5, 2012Well, I've been fiddling around through my settings and I'm wondering if there is a way to lock the Folder View? I heavily prefer the "tiles" format when viewing folders and I would like if there was a way to set that as a default viewing style for every/any folder (including new folders upon creation).
It's not too big of a deal to change it upon creating new folders but it'd add a bit more ease if I could lock it to that specific view.

Dec 24, 2012Long story short, my ex girlfriend got a netbook a few years ago, and it came with windows 7 starter. I gave her a copy of my valid Windows 7 Home Premium keys and taught her how to reinstall Windows 7 on a USB drive. So now she has the netbook with windows 7 on it, and she upgraded to a new 15 inch HP Envy, she doesn't use the netbook anymore. And since we don't talk anymore, any attempt to ask if I can have the key back and she reinstall the old system on there from the recovery partition, it's all gone unanswered.I just want to have my windows 7 Home premium key back, she isn't using the netbook and I need it to install now.
What I'm wondering is if I can just install windows 7 on my laptop, and then activate it, I know it will deactivate the netbook, but can I lock the key to my computer only so if she or anyone else tried to reactivate it, it wouldn't let them and it wouldn't affect my computer?I just want my key back and she isn't using it anymore, she just blocked me on facebook today because I contacted her about it. So I'm done with trying to work with her and I just want to get this over with.

I'm looking to do this for my HTPC aswell. I want to set it up to boot the same image for my C-partition every time, I'm storing all the my databases with mediainfo and watched tags on a separate partition so that info should still be saved after a shutdown.

Sep 20, 2009I was recently poking about in the Group Policy Editor seeing if there were any changes between Vista and 7, but after I had exited and locked my computer I noticed my lock screen now shows as this:

(I had to use my phone as it seems you cannot use print screen at this login)
Normally it would have the persons picture and name, and all you would have to do is enter the password, but it seems it has made it so you have to enter the Username and Password which is quite an annoyance.
I went through all of the settings to make sure that I had not accidentally changed any, from what I saw I had not changed any settings or if there were in fact any settings that causes this behaviour.

An IT person came out and wanted to charge $400 for a clean reinstall so i said i would do it She has windows xp and i recommended that she purchase windows 7. After purchasing the upgrade pack i put it in and selected custom (the clean reinstall option of the two).It gets to the "expanding windows files" part and then locks up at 42% every time. I cannot move the mouse. how to get through this? could it be a problem with the disk?

Jun 18, 2012The issues come when I leave the PC overnight, idling, with the monitor physically turned off (I use the power button). When I come back in the morning and turn the monitor back on, there is a black screen and the PC won't wake.I have left the computer idling during the day for many hours with the monitor being in standby (PC turns it off, not me).Interestingly, when the PC "hangs" after the night I can still access stuff over the network, and play some videos on my TV which is DLNA-ed to it. Logs do not show any issues, in fact there is some logging going on all night meaning the PC isn't totally dead. However, I try plugging some USB devices in and out, but it doesn't make that USB recognition noise.
Things I have tried:
- playing around with power settings, ie. disabling USB turn-off, disabling ULPS on my vid card (ultra-low-power-savings mode), changing the screen turn-off times, turning sleep and hybernate/hybrid off
- note it is NOT a taskbar auto-hide issue. If you are having crashing problems after idling (still able to access PC for 10s of seconds before it freezes), be sure to check out information on the auto-hide of the taskbar
Other info:
- I run utorrent overnight As a test, I turned my monitor off (physically) during the day, and came back to a "hung" system. I think this may be the root of the issue but it's still driving me up a wall because it's such a weird problem. I have to keep trouble shooting the issue to be certain. Furthermore, my main concern, and the reason for writing this post, is that I want to make sure this is not some hardware issue that is later going to progressively get worse. To me it doesn't seem like a hardware thing, but maybe there are some experts out there who can shed some light.
Desktop Icons Won't Lock?
Jul 31, 2012My pc was recently hit with several malwares, which messed up my pc pretty good.After I got rid of all of them, I noticed that one problem still remains: my desktop icons won't stay locked in place the way I want them. I would move the icons in one place, and it'll stay up until I refresh the page or restart the computer. They would all revert back to the left side of the desktop. Any way to lock these? I've already checked to see that auto arrange icons is turned on, even tried checking it and unchecking it. I also checked to see that "Allow themes to change desktop icons" in Desktop Icon Settings is unchecked.

Evertime I leave my PC for a few minutes I come back and the screen is on some sort of neutral screensaver...and I have to renter my password to get back into Windows. Aug 3, 2012I have a Pavilion dv-6 2155dx laptop. Windows 7. It's worked fine until recently. I have rebooted many times No change. The ON/OFF bell seems to work ok but the number pad does not work correctly. It does "strange" things now. Some keys do "something" and others do not as follows:
/ types a slash * types an asterisk - types a minus sign + types a plus sign
Enter seems to be ok
7, 8, 9, 4, 6, 1, 2, 3, DEL do nothing
5 unhighlights anything highlighted in a browser search bar. If nothing is highlighted then 5 does one of several things: brings up Page Navigation option, moves flashing cursor one space to left OR causes flashing cursor to disappear altogether. 0 seems to now and then cause the flashing cursor to disappear.
This has got to be something easy that I probably accidentally screwed up. I have tried to go into BIOS but directions I found did not get me to menus described to me.
