How To Invert Row Of Number Keys For Typing Symbols
Mar 7, 2011
I wanted to invert the number row keys so I dont need to press shift for printing symbols. Numbers can be typed easily from the numpad but some symbols like $_()&* are frequently used in programming, so if I could invert the keys it would be easier to type
I have the Microsoft Sidewinder x6 keyboard and have had it for quite a long time now. My problem is that when i want to type fx '^' over an 'e' or any other symbol, that i have on my keyboard.
I was randomly playing a game, then all of a sudden my keyboard started typing weirdly. Eg. when i type a, e appears and when i type e, L appears. I went on control panel and the keyboard was still set to "English (United States) - US" and the language was still set to English. I tried pressing Ctrl + Shift and that didn't help either, no matter how many times i pressed it.
The @ and " keys on my keyboard are the wrong way round, in other words. when I type @ I get " and when I type " I get @. How can I correct this, to get the proper characters with the " and @ keys? I have tried every thing for XP, that has been Previously posted. but it does not work for windows 7
Upgraded a Toshiba laptop from vista to windows 7 and now have a huge problem. The number keys do not work when in browsers???? They work on notebook and in the calculator but not in IE or Firefox. When you push them they just repeat the last inputed keys. Ive flashed the bios up to date, read a million forums, and done ever littl trick I know of with no avail?
i have an interesting problem. my keyboard's number keys on the top row sometimes do not work except for the 5 and 6 key. so i unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it worked!... for all of 2 minutes.
Is it possible to have say a 3 key sequence that will write out your password or e-mail. Saving the need to type, my pass word are pretty long and can become hectic if you need to type them out a few times. But is it possible ?
keyboard keys 1, 2, 3,...0 & shift to get characters above them display wrong characters - the ALL display the same, & it's always the last other key typed...Dell inspiron 530 core 2 quad 6600. what caused this: had vista 32 bit home premium, upgraded to 7 home premium. it takes ONLY usb keyboards - tried 2 diff ones that work perfectly on my 2 other desktops. what's even more weird, go into ease of access center & put onscreen keyboard up, IT WORKS FINE! in addition, i accessed it through team viewer from my laptop, TYPES THE #'s FINE! i'm very knowledgeable with PC's as i refurb for resale - tried re-installing drivers, triple checked language & regional settings.
I recently changed o/s from xp pro to 7 home premium. Paintshop looks completely different & I can't figure out how to invert an image with the new paintshop.
Our screensaver is supposed to use images from the My Pictures folder, but it also displays symbols from some deep system root directory. These symbols are annoying. How do I stop them?
So my father went on a rampage and deleted a bunch of random files in his C-drive of his laptop, and emptied the recycle bin. The next time he switches on the laptop all letters are gone. As if the system is missing the language feature - everything where there should be letters / symbols belonging to a language, it's messed up symbols + signs.
How may I re-install them? Already tried a backup, didn't do a difference. One thing I have noticed, however, is that he has Comodo System Utilities installed, and everytime on boot (black screen straight after HP logo) it says that's doing something. However, he didn't use the program to delete, just the delete bottom and "empty recycle bin." Then I have tried restoring deleted files via Tune Up Utilities, still no help. Finally I've spammed F2 at the HP logo screen on startup and doing system checks. - what if I get a Windows Vista Service pack and install, will this return the missing symbols for the language?
I'm having a weird issue. i'm not sure where or why but these symbols on my shortcuts are changing to things like a lock, a grey X, a green Check mark, or two people next to each other there are a couple of Pics attached. they seem to only appear intermittently.
I am trying to copy some symbols from "Wingdings" font using chamap. When I paste the symbols in notepad (I changed font to Wingdings for notepad) I see unknown rectangular characters. I selected this font from charmap and when I pasted this in note pad I got this:I don't know where I am doing mistake. As suggested, I made all fonts visible in C:windowsfonts folder. But I can see still see the problem.

I am having issues with my laptop. Sometimes when i type the letters turn into shortcut keys and when i am in the middle of an important school asignment I loose my work, because i can't do anything. I can use my mouse, but when i try to use my keyboard it is almost inoperable. I have even tried to use an external keyboard and the samething happens. I have used Rkill, malwarbytes, norton and ccleaner, but nomatter what i do it keeps happening. The only way i have been able to temperarily fix it is to restart the computer and the problem can come back in 30 minutes or it can come back in 10hours . it even happens when i play games.
On my dell inspiron 15r the F1-F12 keys are covered by multimedia keys like volume, screen brightness, battery, internet, and other. I need to disable these because in some video games I play, I need to use these keys because they are set hotkeys that cannot be changed.

Frequently--and growing more frequent--I get a lag in typing in Windows 7 for any application involving typing (browsers, Office, email....anything). At first nothing happens, and then everything I tried to type shows up several seconds later, sometimes as long as 20 or 30 seconds later, though usually with the first few letters missing.
I'm facing one serious cursor issue.Whenever I'm typing something, the cursor is just going off from it's normal place.
For example: Right now I'm typing in a Notepad and the cursor is just going off the notepad and I have to click again inside the notepad to bring the cursor back to it's position so that I can type. The same thing happens while chatting with someone. I've to click on the chat window again and again to type my messages.I recently got my palm rest replaced which included new touch pad and I'm pretty much sure that it's not touch pad problem. This is really frustrating and annoying.
I'm just setting up a new computer, and not used to the keyboard. When I was installing the operating system I was asked for a User name. Before I had a chance to do anything it had accepted the name GREU and moved on to the next step.I've tried doing a search in regedit for GREU, changed it in one place, but its still showing up all over. Is there a complete fix to this or should I resign myself to being known as Greu for the next few years?
