View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VGN-Z590 that has 2 x 64 GB SSD hard disks that are arranged in a RAID 0 config. When installing Windows 7, the files are copied and the computer reboots, but when it reaches 85% on the Completing Installation screen, the laptop will power off. I have checked to make sure that the power adapter is plugged into a working power source, checked the battery, and even opened up the laptop to make sure that the cooling fan is working, but it still shuts off at that point. I have also disabled the RAID and tried running the Windows 7 install off of a USB drive, but it still shuts down at the same point.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter doing a fresh install of Windows 7 Enterprise on my Sony Vaio things are going well. I visited the Sony Vaio esupport site and it has recommended all sorts of drivers for my particular laptop. 2 questions...
1. What is the equivalent of Windows 7 Enterprise for driver purposes? 7 Ultimate or 7 Professional?
2. Do I really need the Vaio drivers if nothing appears to be wrong?

The problem is when i insert win 7 bootable DVD into the DVD drive , the DVD is not booting , i tried total 3 DVDs but no use .
when checked my BIOS settings they are as follows :

At last i tried to install win 7 from USB Flash Drive , but there is no Boot from USB Flash Drive option in my BIOS settings
I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a Sony Vaio VGN-NS190J. I have gone to the Sony site and downloaded and installed all drivers, etc. Everything works great and there are no errors in Device Manager, but the audio device does not show up. When I go to Sound Properties it shows No Audio Device Installed. I downloaded both versions of the audio drivers from the Sony site, both Realtek drivers, and when I run them the install starts, I click few a few screens to start the install and I get the box saying it's checking the system and installing. The box then just closes and it never installs. I even connected to a Sony tech who took control and tried to fix it but was not successful. They said it must be a hardware problem. The sound was working fine on Vista before I upgraded to Win 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I made a mistake while taking on a friend's problematic sony vaio laptop. They were wanting to install a newly purchased Kaspersky av, but after uninstalling the old version of Kaspersky there was a problem with an unresponsive usb mouse & mouse pad. I wasn't able to resolve the issue through various repair programs and manually reinstalling the driver, which was giving off the error code of not being properly installed or functioning. With owners consent, I decided to let Vaio Care to bring the computer back to factory condition. (I wish the owner had the owners manual to this thing.)I made sure to backup all of the files that the owner needed saved, but failed to make any sort of backup recovery disk for the computer. Not sure if it's too late to do so, but the computer will not boot to windows any longer. I get a white blinking cursor on a black background immediately after Vaio disappears from the screen upon bootup, but cannot do anything with it. I made a windows 7 home premium iso dvd, and when booting from it I reinstalled windows onto one of the 3 partitions on the hd (the largest of the 3 which was labeled "Primary" type). Of the other two partitions, one was labeled "Primary" and was named "System Reserved" but only 101MB, and the other was labeled "System" and was named "Recovery" and is 7.7GB. When installing, the computer does a restart but then boots up from the disk again starting the entire process over again. So I changed it to boot from the HDD, but still get the same problem of a blank cursor and windows not booting up.When attempting the System Recovery Options on the Windows 7 dvd I'm given 3 different partitions (2 of which are 400+GB, labled windows 7 operating system, and located on (D: ) Local Disk). I'm guessing this might stand for the old windows 7 from the factory, and the one I installed. The other partition is 7.7GB and labeled Start VAIO Recovery Center located on (Unknown) Recovery.System Restore, System Image Recovery, and windows Memory Diagnostic aren't doing any good. Startup Repair only gives me an issue for one of the 3 Partitions, the (Recovery Partition), and states that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically, saying that the "Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline".
When going through command prompt I see that old data & drivers are still on the disc, but was wondering if it was too late to make some sort of a recovery disc for it? My concerns are that when I do a wipe of the drive and a clean install of Windows 7, I'm going to have many issues without having sony's factoryware installed. Am I able to make my own disk to reinstall Sony's factoryware? What's the best way of getting this computer back to fully functioning?I have access to the drivers on Sony's support site: Sony eSupport - VGN-FW510F - Support
I was working on an email Saturday when my Sony Vaio stopped working & flipped over to the black & white Vaio screen. Since then, I've been able to reboot it once, but it flips right back over to the Vaio screen. At one point, I was able to get to the Advanced Boot Options menu by hitting F8. I tried to restore to the last known good configuration. It got to the Windows logo screen, then went back to the Vaio screen, then went to the "Operating System could not be found" screen. The computer has a One Touch Web Access Without Booting Up feature.

My vaio 2005 computer allowed me to view and edit video from my sony digital video camera using windows xp. After a bad virus, I had to install windows 7. I used roxio software to try and edit and record my video but the computer didn't recognize the camera. In trying to use windows media player, I was told that I needed a driver for the camera, but in searching the computer and the internet for one, none was found. After contacting Microsoft, they couldn't find a driver.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a re-occurring problem with my 1year old Sony Vaio. When I switch it on, it often goes to a page where it says 'windows was unable to start'. When I press 'start windows normally' it starts up with vaio logo and sometimes windows logo, but then stops and redirects me to a page that is blue to check for problems, but stays on this for hours, never resolving the issue. I have tried taking battery out, booting in safe mode (which doesn't work) and using last known working settings, but still can't get to log in page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a bluescreen on this sony laptop, and I have attached the dump file to the thread. Can any identify what caused the bluescreen (driver... program... etc??) I was watching a flash video as the computer crashed. I am thinking it was perhaps the graphics driver. If you can't identify what caused the BlueScreen thru that file could you tell me where to check to find out?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio laptop, E-Series VPCEA24FM, running Windows 7, and I have trouble getting it to print wirelessly.I first tried it with a Lexmark Pro900 Inkjet printer, but when I sent a file, it would sit in the queue indefinitely, even though the print monitor indicates that the printer is 'Ready.'I thought it was a printer problem, so I got a new Brother HL-2270DW Laserprinter. The same problem would occur, it wouldn't print. In both cases, reinstalling the printer allows it to print once, but if the device goes into standby, I can never print to it again from the Sony Vaio. I have two other laptops, running Windows Vista and Windows 7 respectively, and both can print to both printers just fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWin7 64 wont start on a Sony Vaio. It will sometimes get to the desktop and seconds later it shuts down. No logout, just a black screen total shutoff. when restarted the black screen popped up again but this time it was with the message "windows failed to start" and the options were either "launch startup repair" or start windows normally. I chose "launch startup repair".
The startup again goes to the immediate shutdown, more quickly each time it is tried. I have gotten into safe mode and performed a memory and disk check which were ok. It seems to go farther into the startup after it has been shutdown for a while.
I have a vaio and it has had windows 7 64 from new, and just recently it has been freezing with no errors. What happens: when i turn it on it starts normally and loads windows, then aftr about 1 minute it locks up as if it is trying to open something. The light on the laptop is solid orange as if it is busy doing something, but if i open task manager it says 5% cpu usage and the ram is using only 1.5 gigs.If i leave the computer on for 1-2 hours it will un freeze and be totally normal again. It did it once at first and i removed the program that i thought was causing it and it didnt happen again for a few days until i updated windows.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Sony Vaio froze on me and I shut it down by the power off button As soon as I rebooted it would go to the windows 7 loading screen and then go to a blue screen! I tried to restore my computer with the Sony restore disk. It would load then go to the blue screen and the mouse is present but it doesn't do anything from there! Sometimes it would bring up the command prompt and the I cursor blinks and nothing happens Then I tried to attemped and restore with Windows 7 disk and samething happens it loads and instead of a blue screen it is black with a mouse and doesn't do anything I tried pressing F12 and it says Check cable connection pme-mof: exiting intel pxe rom.
When I don't put a disk in it goes to a black screen that says If windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, start up repair can help diagnose it!
