I have recently upgraded my computer from vista to seven and as i had many problems with it, I was later advised to make a clean reinstall.

To do so, since it is a student version downloaded from Microsoft's website (no physical dvd then), I had to make a windows 7 ISO file in order to boot from a seven dvd.
To do this, I need to install AIK first (so as to later have the possibility to use the 'oscdimg' command), by downloading an ISO file. I have done so and am now unable to open this ISO file with daemon tools. I am able to do it with Magic Iso, though when I start the install, the AIK install program asks me to put a cd in.
I have an odd problem - I have 2 drives - one SATA one IDE on the motherboard to choose from. Both blank. The install program sees them, apparently can partition them (let's me into advanced options), but when i select either one to install to, gives an error that it cannot create the partition.
whenever I right click on my win 7 64bit desktop, I get the above. I have to cancel 2 or 3 screens where it is looking for a CD or a file and once I have done that I then get the normal right click options, in this case, I want to delete a link or something on the desktop.
Is it possible for me to create a windows 7 home premium install disk for my pre installed acer laptop.I have of course made the recovery and factory disks but need to restore my machine preferably without the junk an acer factory reset will put back on. Reading up i see i need to burn my iso file to dvd. Sounds good to me but i cannot find it and am not sur if i even have one lol. I have found a download for it (3gig) is it save to use this then enter my product key during install.
I have acquired a kingston 64 gig ssd, which is formatted by win XP pro. When I try to install Win 7 on the ssd, it gives me an error like, "Can't find/create the partition." Set up see's the primary drive-1, but I still get the error and won't let me install the OS. I've searched the internet and can find nothing on this error exactly.
I bought a laptop in November of last year and it came with windows 7. I have since lost the disk, but my laptop is perfectly fine. However, I'm worried about the day when I need to wipe my laptop and start anew with it. Is there a way for me to create an install disk for Windows 7 using the software already installed on my laptop? Is this legal to do?
When I try to install Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit onto my Hard Drive it says that it can't create a partition on it, so Installation cannot continue.The hard drive was formatted and cleared and ready to go..I'm in the BIOS right now, but keep in mind that this is a Dell Dimension 4600 so the BIOS isn't all that advanced like nowaday computers.
I purchased a new SSD and doing a fresh install. I am curious if it would be easier or ideal to create an installation disk/usb with all the added windows updates and drivers for my system(if possible)? Originally I had Windows Vista Ultimate and then upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate. So, I have the original install disk for Vista and an upgrade disk for 7. I will also have 3 other HDD's installed, if it matters.
I have a bit of a problem. I recently got a new SSD and configured it to make it my boot drive. I kept my old installation on my hdd and also made a new partition on that device to hold all of the program files, data, etc. Whenever I was finished installing all the programs that I had on my old setup on my new setup and had transfered all necessary documents, I figured it was time to remove the old partition and expand the new data partition to fill the drive. I used gparted to delete the old one and expand the new one.
For some reason, whenever I installed windows 7 on my ssd, it never created a system reserved partition. Everything booted up fine. After deleting my old partition, my system now fails to boot up and gives me the message "BootMGR is missing. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart". Clearly, my computer is now wanting a system reserved partition.
My question is, how do I create a system reserved partition AFTER Windows 7 has been installed?
I have already tried startup repair and all of the bootrec.exe commands, but none of them seem to work.
I am trying to install windows 7 onto my meego tablet and need to create a bootable USB, as it doesn't have a cd drive. I have the Windows 7 installation file (which ends .iso) and have tried to install by following the steps outlined in articles I have found online
I had bought new laptop. At that I have two drives and I locked one of them with the bitlocker and later on I just deleted that drive from disk management. Now I cannot create partition, I have more than 160 GB and system does not allow me to install a fresh copy and neither it allows me create a partition. What should I do?
I am having a problem with doing a fresh install of Windows 7. It is on a Dell Inspiron 1546 with a 150 GB hard drive. There was an original install but the computer was having issues as some files were corrupted. I used the Windows 7 disc to format the hard drive and booted from CD after restarting.
However when I try to install the new Windows 7 it sits at the part where it says: Expanding files. Then after a while an error pops up that says: Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information
I'd like to create a backup image of a clean install of Windows + certain applications.My plan is this: Format my SSD that I am currently using. Install fresh windows 7, do all the updates, install a few choice applications, and then get an image of it to use for recovery. I have a few questions on this topic as well:
1. This is probably obvious, but I want to make sure; I can store the image wherever I like, correct? If I am using an SSD for my boot drive, I can image that, and store the image on a regular hard drive, right?
2. How big will the image be? Is it going to be as big as the entire drive that I back up? I cannot imagine how it would go any differently, but I am hoping for some unrealized magic.
3. Do I need to buy the Ghost software? If not, does it make imaging a whole lot easier to make it worth the price tag?
4. How arduous and time consuming is the actual recovery process?
p.s. Something I just thought of. I don't know how I would do the actual backup without an OS to interface with so maybe I could make the image contain everything except the basic install of windows to cut down on space and time. Is this feasible?
I tried to dual boot Fedora 18 with my Windows 7. They are on two different hard drives. Fedora 18 worked but I was unable to boot up Windows 7. Frustrated, I decided to just delete everything from all the hard drives and try to do a clean install of Windows 7 using the USB-DVD Windows tool to make a USB Windows 7 installer. I then got the following error when trying to install Windows onto my hard drive:
"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information"
I tried unplugging the other hard drives and got the same error. I also went to the command prompt and used Diskpart and did clean all. Still the error shows up. Something that might be useful is that when I did disk list in the command prompt it showed my hard drive but with 0 free space. Not sure if this is useful but the drive I want Windows 7 on is a solid state drive but the one I had Fedora on is a normal hard drive and I had an extra harddrive that I used for storage that is a normal hard drive as well.
I had 32 bit Windows 7 home premium provided by OEM. Recently I purchased Windows 7 professional 64 bit in order to increase my memory.(My system is 64 bit capable) I followed [1]. I am using USB for installation. I booted the system with USB. Then at disk manager I deleted all the partitions(including recovery ) Then I refreshed and click next and I got an error saying setup unable to create system partition.
my main pc got a new motherboard and requires a fresh install of windows 7. Ok, I have the windows 7 iso and I have the motherboard installed into my computer. I put the ISO on my flash drive but when I booted from the flash drive I got "Reboot and select a proper boot device or insert media in selected device and press a button." Is it even possible for me to make a usb drive loaded with windows 7 ultimate 64x for another computer? With every step by step guide I found on how to do this they either said to use the Windows 7 usb dvd download tool (which is what I have been using since the beginning to no avail) or do it manually. To do it manually involves the Diskpart feature of the command prompt, which on xp, doesnt detect flash drives. So...I cant do it manually.tell me if I have to reinstall my old motherboard (heatsink installation is a pain which is why I dread installing motherboards) and then upon reinstalling old motherboard do I have to set up my flash drive (again) and hope I didnt mess up just to rip the motherboard back out and put the new new one back in and hope the usb boots this time?

I have a desktop with a 250GB HDD that has Vista Ultimate installed on it. I recently added a 64GB SSD and installed 7 Professional on it. All is working well as a dual boot system, but at this point I would like to format the 250GB drive and use it for data storage. Problem is that since it was the original drive when I added the SSD and Windows 7, I believe that the MBR is on that drive. When I physically disconnect it, I get a message to put in my 7 install disk, but when I to try to repair it, it shows no OS to repair.So, can I move, change or create a new MBR on the SSD or am I going to need to just do another clean install of 7 on the 64GB drive without the 250GB drive attached, then attach it and format it?
I want to create a new partition to load Linux on it (on my Windows 7 system). Now I currently have a C-drive(Windows), a D-Drive(80GB) and an E-Drive(400MB). Now how do I create a new partition for Linux, without using the windows cd and booting from it? Can I use Virtual Hard Disk(VHD)?
Can I create a backup laptop hard drive using Windows 7 Backup? I'm hoping to create an HD that will be an exact replica of the one in my machine, so that if it crashes I can simply replace it with the backup HD and there will be no differences at all. When I tried to do this, the new HD had all the data, but when I swapped it with the current HD and tried to boot, I got a "BOOTMGR missing" message.
I have always been able to create sub folders by using the menus or by right clicking on the highlighted folder. All of a sudden this capability is gone. Nothing happens when I click on "New Folder" in the top menu. If I highlight the folder and rignt click the only choice given me is to create a "Briefcase."

I have my windows 7 installed as fresh install and the computer works fast and as it was when i bought it . i am wondering about the way that i can make an ISO from my windows so that if there is any problem i can use it to restore my computer to this operating condition, is there any special programs or i can do it using Windows 7, I HAVE DELL data safe but i do not have much confidence on it.
I tried to create a new user, and every time I try to switch to it, restarting my computer, or switching users, or turning off my computer then back on. It logs on, then says logging off right away.
