Does it no longer exist? Is there a way to have this function? It would be a bit of a bummer if not. It's not very convienent to have all the windows open on top of each other.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn windows XP, I could turn off the annoying "remember folder settings" that forced each folder to have it's own settings instead of always being in the same as the one I left it when I closed it. Windows 7 does not do that. I can tell it to "make all folders like current" which isn't what I want. Is there an option or was that removed to be made inferior to XP in another way?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAs stated in the object everytime Windows gets loaded it always forgets somethings in my wireless LAN connection settings.Either everything is set with automatic IP address (and I actually use TCP/IPv4 manual IP address + DHCP disabled in the DSL router) and automatic DNS addresses, or (if set on manual as it should be) something is randomly missing (i.e. the Gateway, the DNS address, etc., etc.).When rebooting I don't have the feeling that a task is force-closed or that something crashed so there should be no accidental loss of data (?).I use Kaspersky Pure v2.x + Webroot Spy Sweeper (this one with LAN control disabled).

Win7 respects my settings during the session but after a reboot they are back to whatever they were before. Its a real productivity killer for me. I am running inside a standard account. I thought about trying to change the settings in the Admin account but the icons I need to customise don't appear there.

I recently installed an old game. I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 and the game was for XP. I messed with the compatibility settings and I think something went wrong. The folder icons have changed everywhere but on the desktop. The desktop shows the regular aero styled icons. Everywhere else the folder icons are some dumbed-down picture that looks low tech even for XP. Its bright yellow and has no 3D effects. To make it even more frustrating, it only does this when the view is set to details, list, or small icons, which are the only views I ever use. What button did I push and how can I fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor example I have a folder in my desktop with pictures, videos, documents, music, etc. I organized it by grouping by type, somewhere between large & extra large thumbnails, and a few other things. I want these settings applied to all other folders. I went to folder options and applied it to other folders. Nothing changed. My other folders, including my picture folder is still the same way it was. How do I apply to ALL folders? I know you can zoom in on thumbnails by hitting ctrl + mouse scroll wheel, but is there a way you can do it with a keyboard and not the mouse?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just accidentally changed my settings on my grapics card so that I can no longer see my desktop on the monitor connected to my HTPC. My HTPC has a monitor attached to it and it also has an HDMI out from the graphics card going to an LED TV in another room. I accidentally switched it so that the desktop can only be seen on the other TV in the other room.
All I can see on the monitor is the blank Windows 7 logo (no desktop icons) and I cannot navigate back to my AMD control page to undo this. I tried rebooting but this does not work. This is an issue as I don't have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse that I can use in the other room to control the desktop. How do I reset this? I am using a AMD HD 6750 graphics card.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have win 7 ultimate 64bit and a while ago i tampered with file encryption and was dumb enough not to back up my encryption key. However, i remember my password that i used to encrypt those files. I formatted C: and re-installed Win7, just to notice i can't access some of my important files on another drive.So, i thought several possibilities of recovery, and i appreciate if you guys could express if any of the options below are viable.
1) Since i didn't back up my encryption key, where is the original one located? (if i use some recovery program to restore it)
2) Can i use recovery programs to restore pre-format a) user account, or b) encryption key, or c) windows (which actually then works)?
3) I remember the password i used to encrypt the files, so can i just make a new encryption key and kind of import it to my present windows to decrypt those files?
4) Does "Advanced EFS Data Recovery" or some other encryption key recovery tool work for my problem?
I am scanning docs to my inbox. I then open, rename and save to a specific folder. My old computer used to remember the path I chose after the 1st time. Now I have to select the directory, then go through several folders & subfolders to get to the correct folder every time . This is very time consuming. Can I set it so that the path is remembered and takes me directly to the folder?

The problem is that I do not have a password on my computer and windows 7 is constantly trying to login to the network share with the username and no password on each boot. I have to manually enter my username and password each time I boot and the "remember the password" checkbox doesn't work.One solution is to have a VBScript remove the network share and readd it using the username and password on each boot, but I wonder if there is a more elegant way of doing it than that?
