HP DV5 Laptop - Driver Issues
Windows 7 installed without a hitch. After installation of Windows Vista 32-bit drivers it functions perfectly. It appears to be a very peppy system with really neat improvements. Windows One Care live won't install because it does not view Windows 7 as a 'verifiable Microsoft Windows' Operating system.
I have been a part of the Windows Feedback Panel for at least 4 maybe 5 years. When Vista was in Beta testing I was chosen by Microsoft to be part of that group. Unfortunately in my view I was testing Vista on a Machine that ran Windows XP very well but was not capable of Hardware rigors of running Windows Vista.
I have tried for about the last six months to become part of the Beta testing for Windows 7, especially because I think I might have a better idea of what to do.

HP Pavilion Dv5-1004nr
All but 1 drivers were installed for the HP Pavilion dv5-1004nr. The only driver that was missing was the ENE CIR infra-red received. Since it is a Microsoft e-home InfraRed received I think that the driver should be included by default. However, I managed to make it work by installing the Vista driver available.

HP DV5-1002US Performance
Nework connectivity is frequently questionable with frequent disconnects. Tonight I got a BSOD....something I haven't seen since my Windows XP days years ago. In the past 5 days of execution I also had a critical Kernel exception. Waiting for the next set of patches...but I may have to uninstall Windows 7 and move to WIndows XP if this does not resolve soon. I need a stable system and Windows 7 is less stable on this system then Vista has been.

Install On HP DV5 1251nr
I've got a HP DV5 1251 nr laptop. Came with Vista. Has a D:Recovery partition. I did the upgrade install last Friday. Took 3.5 hours. Went smooth. But now I want to do the clean install. I have the Family Home Premium version of 7. My question is; will I be able to pass the compliance check now that I have Win 7 and am basically reinstalling 7. Also, what do I do with my Vista Recovery Partition? Leave it alone? Is the recovery partition involved with the compliance check? I do have a 3DVD set of downloaded HP Recovery discs as well. Also if anyone knows about the SwSetup Directory that has all the HP Software - should I use that or just look for all the HP Win 7 components that apply.

HP Pavillion Dv5 1388 N Audio Problem
I purchased an HP Pavillion dv-5 1388n Entertainment Notebook PC. It came with Vista Home, and was deemed compatible for the Windows 7 upgrade, to Home Premium. I received the upgrade disc and installed it this past weekend. The install went smoothly with no errors during the 2+ hour process. All apps worked fine, but I discovered that I can hear no system sounds or play any audio via I-Tunes or Windows Media Player. I have checked the sound properties and all is fine. There are no updates needed for anything and I have tried updating my drivers. I even uninstalled the drivers and restarted the laptop to allow the laptop to find the correct drivers. When I try to play any audio file I get an error "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". I tried to update the media and have even tried to download VLC Media Player with no success.

HP Dv2635 Laptop Driver Upgrade
I received my laptop (HP dv2635) back today at factory settings on 32-bit Vista Professional after having to send it away to get the mainboard replaced. I installed Win 7 and all seems to be going well, though there are a few things like drivers for webcam, touchpad, fingerprint reader etc that are not up to date because these devices are not responding in the same way they used to. HP website has not yet listed driver updates for Windows 7, but I recall reading somewhere on several of the forums I have looked at that most Vista drivers for devices such as these should work. Is this true? I can definitely survive with things as they are until HP extends driver support over the coming weeks, but a temporary fix would definitely eb awesome, especially for the touchpad.

Driver Problems With Toshiba Satellite Laptop
Ok, my Toshiba Satellite laptop originally had Windows Vista on it, I then downloaded Windows 7 but today i went back to Vista because some things weren't supported like my brightness settings and stuff. however. Now that I went back, my computer seems alot slower. Also it never auto connects to the internet when I turn it on. I always have to "diagnose and repair" to get it started. The worst thing is though is I had absolutely no drivers. I have no disk for my pc so I had to go on my other pc, download the correct internet driver, install it on my laptop then manually download all the drivers i thought I needed. Well, everything is working except for the slowness of the pc still and my audio! It sounds like crap. It used to sound soooo good for a laptop. So I updated drivers but then it gave me an error and said it wont work correctly and then it disabled my audio completely. So I rolled back my driver and now it just sounds like crap again. Its literally so much of a difference that i dont even want to listen to music or play my games because the sound was one of the reasons I got this laptop. I hardly doubt anyone can help me because you'd have to have my specific model and drivers to figure it out. Man, I just dont know what to do. I fear there is nothing I can do EDIT: Although, now I think I'm going insane. I feel sick to my stomach whenever I mess something up. At this point, I cant tell if the sound thing is in my mind or not. I mean, it always seemed so good. When i play music, it seems good at times but at other times it doesn't. I'm pretty sure its bad though. I wish I could just send this somewhere and get it all taken care of. EDIT AGAIN: Phew, I fixed the audio problem by switching some settings. Man am a relived. Now I just gotta work on reinstalling things But I still dont know what drivers I'm missing and also why my computer seems so slow. Also there is a 30 second gap in between the loading bar boot and the vista logo sequence. I dont remember that before but its not the biggest deal. Man... Edit again: Just wondering if anyone would upload all the different Windows sounds in Windows 7. I liked one of the themes and want to use it in Vista but forgot to back it up.

Synaptics Driver Issues On HP G70 Laptop
I just upgraded my father-in-law's HP G70 laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It is relatively new but had Vista on it. It was an "upgrade" and it appears to have preserved everything pretty well. A large number of updates have ben applied successfully via Windows Update. But - There's a "virtual scrolling" feature on the trackpad, which no longer works. All the Point Device Properties applet choices seem to be correct... I am not sure why it doesn't work. Anyone got any similar experiences or theories why it wouldn't work?

No Display / Video Driver For Vaio Laptop
I installed Windows 7 on a Vaio VGN-NR260E laptop running Vista Home Premium, inside a virtual machine (Virtual Box.) The only problem so far is that it doesn't have the right drivers for my display/video card (the res is currently 1024x768 instead of the native 1280x800), and Sony doesn't have plans to create those. They said that Microsoft is the one developing drivers at this time. I heard this talk before, and it surely will be an obstacle to overcome, as I won't install it permanently to replace Vista unless everything works as should, and it also doesn't allow me to test several other software and hardware with the basic VGA driver installed. Is there a possibility that this is a limitation due to it be running 7 on a virtual machine? Or will I depend on Microsoft developing drivers for my laptop at some point? Is there a place to send requests, or does anybodyknow of an alternate driver for my case?

Need Driver To Change Laptop Screen Res To Wide
I have a Dell Latitude D800 laptop which is some outdated but served me well with vista. The native screen resolution is 1920x1200, and if I understand correctly the nvidia chipset is GeForce FX Go5200. I don't need to install the native driver if I could only change the resolution to custom since nothing else appears to be not working. The problem with the natural drivers is this: when I install the nvidia one it says I do not have a compatible chipset, so it leaves me with the D800 video driver. It has only been released for XP and installing it even with changed compatibility mode freezes my screen on startup. In Vista no drivers were needed I just changed my resolution to 1920x1200 and all was well, what are my options in Windows 7?

How To Run Latest NVIDIA Desktop Driver On Laptop ?
This is for x86. x64 is slightly more difficult due to driver signing enforcement. You can try to permanently disable this "feature" of Windows 7 x64 by searching Google. Please do not ask me how as I do not use x64 and don't know. But there is a way. If you can't find it, for x64, you will have to use f8 or similar key to start the machine each time. 1) Download the latest desktop driver for Windows 7 and the card that is closest to yours from NVIDIA's website. 2) Extract the installer to C:NVIDIA - Close installer after extraction. It is not needed now any longer. 3) Find NV_DISP.inf and open it in notepad. 4) Look at the models of cards listed. Choose to edit one that is closest to yours. 5) Open device manager. Right click on standard vga or your video card and choose properties. Details tab. Change drop down to hardware ids. The second line down is of interest here. 6) In the .inf, scroll to the bottom [Strings] section. Again, look for most similar desktop model. Change the beginning part to match what you found in last step 5. For example: NVIDIA_DEV.0421.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT" and you have 8400M GT, change it to NVIDIA_DEV.0426.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT" 7) Now look up higher in the .inf and search for the number you edited. In this case, "0421" will lead you to this line: %NVIDIA_DEV.0421.01% = Section010, PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0421 8) In this line, edit like this and add your particular string from step 5: %NVIDIA_DEV.0426.01% = Section010, PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9016104D Note the changes made between step 7 and this in red. Do similar for your particular hardware string. 9) Save the .inf (ctrl+s) 10) Right click on standard vga in device manager. Click update driver software. Browse my computer. Let me pick from a list. Have disk. Browse. Find the .inf you just edited and double click on it. Hit ok so it installs. 11) Reboot and rerun the .exe from step 1 until completion, to install the NVIDIA control panel.

NVIDIA Driver - Convert From Desktop To Mobile (Laptop)
Alright ladies and gentleman. I've decided to make a tutorial for getting the latest desktop drivers for NVIDIA laptop models to work well for you. Here's how to proceed. Driver For GeForce4 440 , Compaq 3120 Laptop
I installed Win 7 RC1. It is definately slower than XP Pro. What makes it slower than needed, is that the laptop's GeForce4 440 card is not recognized, and the laptop is running on the plain VGA driver. Will there be a Win7 driver for older video cards, such as the GeForce4 440?

Gateway M-6862 Laptop Cd / DVD Driver Problem
I just downloaded windows 7 RC 32 bits and I got this message when I click on the button "install now": A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk,cd,dvd,or usb flash drive, please insert it now. Note: if the windows installation media is in the cd/dvd drive, you can safely remove it fot this step. I just happened to have the drivers backup from vista, but when I try to browse to the folder I get a message that no new devices were found. The strange thing is that I can browse on the DVD from where Im installing and I can see the files, actually the installer boot from the DVD. I tried the following: -Allow/disable 32bit IDE access mode for both hard drive and DVD in all combinations off/off, on/on, off/on, on/off. The bios setup does not have many options to configure such as achi, etc. -Burn the DVD at a lower speed (2x) even with another software My computer is a Gateway M-6862 Laptop with the following specifications: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5750 4096 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2 × 2048) ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2600 XT PCI Express Graphics 250 GB 5400 RPM SATA hard driv OptiArc DVD RW AD-7563A .. The only thing I could think of is that the download is corrupt, I downloaded the iso with Firefox and paused and resumed many times, maybe the download went corrupt. Is there any way to check the iso file for integrity? -I have a card reader, could I install from an SD card? dont have a usb larger than 2GB at the moment -Any other things to try?

Asus A6JC Laptop Sound Driver Problem
I installed Windows 7 RC on my Asus laptop and the sound driver installed by Windows during the installation didn't work. So I went to the Asus website to get the driver. After installing it, my sound card worked fine. But here comes the problem: when I restart Windows, I see the "Starting Windows" screen, and then nothing, the boot animation isn't dispayed and the HDD stops loading. The strange thing is that I can boot several times before it crashes, and the same driver worked fine on Vista and the beta. Here is my config:  -Asus A6JC laptop  -Intel Core Duo 1.6GHz  -1GB RAM  -all I know about the sound card is that it is a Realtek Any idea about what I can do, or where I can find driver that work?

Laptop - Black Screen - Graphics Driver Radeon MV350
- Win 7 RC 7100 32 bit does not load the correct graphics card driver and even the boot menu is not displayed correctly (fuzzy black screen, issue known from Ubuntu installations where it was solved by adapting boot loader specifications…) I do know however, that the boot menu is loaded correctly as “arrow down” + “enter” starts XP without any issues. Win 7 is somewhat loaded, when hitting “enter” only in what I think must be the boot menue. Harddrive gets active and for 5 secons I even get a “black screen in normal resolution” with the arrow displayed correctly. Then unfortunately returning to fuzzy mode. Questions: - How to boot Win 7 in vga or graphics modus being blinded? When hitting F8 hard drive reacts differently, but how then to select the right boot option without seeing anything? - Is there an option to install a different graphics card driver into win 7 via the working XP? - Is there an option to modify the boot menu’s options via working XP, e.g., setting to vga modus (that did the trick for Ubuntu). - Any experience with Radeon Mobility 9600 (MV350) under Win 7?
