View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently built a pc and all is well. Clean install of Windows 7 HP 64. For the first couple of days I was in and out of the system as the default admin (user you are asked to create during Windows 7 install). It wad during this time I installed macrium reflect free 5. I images the system after getting all the drivers in and then set up a scheduled backup for 7am each day. Worked fine.
Now I have created a normal user for me without admin privilege (for security reasons) which will be my day to day login. However this morning macrium failed to run the scheduled image. I was logged in as me, the low lvl user, not admin. The log file had an error about being unable to access adminxml file
I'm guessing this is because I installed macrium whilst an admin? Additionally I created the xml file whilst admin and then turned it into a schedlue whilst admin. However the xml and schedule are both set to run as admin with the admin password typed in.
Macrium is available to me as a normal user but when I launch it I'm asked for the admin password. Just trying to give as much info as poss.
I have a gateway sx2840-01. I need a little more graphics power. It is a slimline low profile set up. I have found a number of cards that would take care of my graphics needs but all seem to require a much larger power supply. Really having a tough time getting advice on upgrading the power. How important is it to have more power?I have 200w; most upgrade video cards require 350w- 600w. Can I get away with what I have? If not, what are the options?

What would be a good video card to upgrade to with HDMI and DVI? Low profile and fanless would be optimal but not mandatory.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the upgrade of an old Dell 4500S for a friend (whose monitor died, so we started from there) I upgraded the 256MB of memory with 2GB, and upgraded the 20GB hard drive with a 60GB version. The old dead monitor was replaced by a Samsung S20B300B 20" 16x9 LCD whose native resolution is 1600x900. However the old onboard Intel i845g GPU graphics chip in the 4500S (82845G) is supported by old drivers that do not have a 1600x900 resolution option. There is one pretty close rectangular resolution available, 1280x768 but it's a bit cartoonish.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy graphic card is the lowest score for my WEI and I'd like to make it a little higher. I have a 305w power supply so I'm not sure what card/s I could run before needing to upgrade my power supply.
Right now I have a Radeon X600 graphic card in my computer. I don't know much about it or any of the better cards out there.
I currently have a VGA and a DVI monitor. In the future (hopefully near) I would like to get a LCD TV and use HDMI. I don't need a VGA port as I have a supply of various connectors/adapters/cords to get VGA.
Would a video card upgrade help my games play better, or would I need a faster processor (running 2.20)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Toshiba Satellite L555D-7930 from Office Depot on BF this year. I told the salesperson that I needed 64 bit OS for newest AutoCAD app. He and the sticker on the unit confirmed that this unit had Windows 7 - 64bit. I pick it up a couple days later (had them install Office) and return home to begin installation of AutoCAD. I find out that the OS system is actually 32 bit after checking the system properties, and see that it is 64 bit compatible.
I call Office Depot and run thru everything, they tell me to call Toshiba to expedite things. I instead have them call on my behalf and the result is a case number from Toshiba with the ultimate answer (after a week of me dealing with both parties) of "NO" from Toshiba and "we will refund your money" from Office Depot. To their credit the people at Office Depot are nice and tried their best, but this whole thing seems like lack of understanding or abilities to me.
Can someone please explain whether Microsoft can get my system switched to 64bit (conversion/upgrade) or if there is a preloaded 64 bit OS hidden somewhere in a partition.
Have been combing blogs, but due to newness of Windows 7 info./posts seems contradictory at times.
Open to any input.
