BSOD When Attempting To Log In Or Shortly After Logging In

Jun 7, 2012

I built my first computer almost two weeks ago, and it worked just fine for a while, but now it repeatedly gives me a blue screen whenever I try to log in. Sometimes it happens after I type in my password and press enter, sometimes while I'm typing it, and sometimes when I just hover the mouse pointer over my user icon.

I attempted the System Health Report like the BSOD thread instructed, but that generates an error: The system cannot find the path specified.

BSOD Playing Dead Island, Driver Attempting To Corrupt Kernel Caught?

Jul 17, 2012

Is Windows 7 . . .

- x64
- Upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows Vista Home Premium
- OEM
- 2008 - the year the computer was built
- Can't remember exactly when I installed the OS

I basically get a BSOD about an hour or so into the game, or sometimes at random. I've never had this kind of problem before with games I've ran system checks on ESET Online Scanner, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware and a few tracking cookies were removed but the problems still persist SFC /SCANNOW showed up an error which it couldn't repair so I've attached the CBS log aswell I've also uninstalled Daemon Tools Lite as I've read it can cause problems, but it hasn't made any difference Also i've already ran Memtest on both my 2GB sticks of RAM and they've come up clean, testing each stick for 4 passes with and without the other stick in each slot Also ran a CPU stress test from Intel and it came out fine?

Analyze HDDs Network Wide?

Jun 27, 2011

I am looking for a utility that will analyze HDDs of client computers on a Windows Network. I've looked around and seen utilities that will defrag any number of computers on a network, but really I don't want that as they require an agent to be installed, and I don't want to install anything else on the client computers, they are full to bursting. Anyway...So just a utility or program that would analyze the disk of each client computer, and generate some sort of report or list of client computers in need of a defrag that I would preform during off hours, or schedule to run late at night.

BSOD Power Failure

Apr 19, 2009

I've been using Windows 7 since it went public, within the last 18 hours I got about 15 BS'sOD. I think the problem had something to do with the fact that I plugged my laptop into a power strip BEFORE turning the power strip on...idk. But whenever I plug in my laptop it takes about 30 seconds for a BSOD to show. I copied a couple down, here they are:

1. 0x0000008E(0xC0000005, 0x8BFAE3D1, 0x91C8DA94, 0x00000000)

2. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x82C5DC91

3. 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x8CBB63D1, 0x8BA84A94, 0x00000000)
KI1.sys - Address 8CBB63D1 base at 8Ca0900 Data Stamp 4911af5e

4. STOP: 0x0000008E ( 0xC0000005, 0x8BDB73D1, 0x8BB8FA94, 0x00000000 )
Kl1.sys - Address 8BDB73D1 base at 8BC0A000, Data Stamp 4911af5e

What I've tried:

Unplugging the power cord. Result: nothing happens but the battery drains so I eventually had to plug back in. Removing the battery. Result: I didn't get a BSOD for about 25 minutes. Using a different power source with battery. Result: Same as with original power source. Using a different power cord. Result: BSOD after 30-45 minutes. Plugging in computer when closed. Result: this works but I can't use the computer.... Currently I'm using 1, 4, and 5.

FYI: I posted a similar message on the Microsoft forum but all they told me was that it was a driver problem...I'd like to know is there anything I can do? and what those bug codes mean.

Disk Boot Failure Then BSOD

Mar 29, 2011

I have a modified HP Media Center Edition. My dad was on it and said that it crashed with a BSOD. When I rebooted it said Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. I inserted the Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate installation disk that I had used to install this copy and the computer booted. Thee black screen with the windows logo showed before the computer did another BSOD. The message read:

"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED-AREA". I booted the computer again and attempted to do a system repair but it said that the problem could not be repaired automatically. I was unable to do a system restore because it said no image was saved. I keep getting the BSOD every time I attempt to boot. I have not recently added any new hardware and there is nothing in the USB ports.

BSOD Driver Power State Failure?

Sep 20, 2011

I am getting these "driver power state failure" crashes with increasing frequency. I suspect it's a driver conflict involving my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra (music recording interface), which is connected via USB.My computer is an HP 671-340US notebook, bought in June or July 2010, with Windows 7 Home Premium (and a whole bunch of HP bloatware!) already installed. I have eliminated some of the HP crap because it constantly interrupted my work, and shut down my computer right in the middle of what I was doing, if I missed the message balloon. Don't know if that contriubuted to the problem. I updated all the drivers and Windows 7 yesterday and today. Crashed again this morning. No hardware upgrades; using it the way it came

BSOD Causing Repetitive Windows 7 Failure?

Dec 31, 2011

My laptop, since a few monthes has been having BSOD crashes repeatidly. I have tried and installed windows many times, and after each install, it would run properly for 3 weeks, then blue screens start to appear. Eventually i recieve BSOD errors and their rate of appearence increases with time, untill windows completely fails to start and crashes just when the microsoft logo appears. I then install a new windows, and the problem repeats itself. I have tried to look for online help, but i find that each forumsite gives a different reason. This time bluescreens have started to appear and just as i log into windows, a BSOD appears, so i had no solution other than copying the minidump files and generating a report (see attachments), although i know it wouldn't be as accurate.Info (failing windows): 7 Proffesional 64 bit, Toshiba E205.Note: The drivers of devices in that windows were all installed. I ran a memory diagnostics test and therefore i don;t suspect faulty ram to be the reason.

BSOD Driver Power State Failure?

May 14, 2012

My very recently purchased laptop was showing some problems from last 2 days. It would get stuck at the shutdown screen and then after extended span of time I had to press and hold power key to turn it off. It happened only twice. I had updated atleast one or the other thing before shutting it down...either through HP Support Assistant or Windows update.

Last night i ran Windows Update and tried to turn off my pc but since updates were being installed it said Windows will shut down once the updates are installed automatically...so i went to sleep only to find in the morning a BSOD. It was stuck on it again i had to turn off my pc by holding power button and then windows refused to boot beyond the Windows 7 logo black screen. But after a couple of retries it started.

BSOD - Driver Power State Failure

Aug 17, 2012

Usually I'm able to sort my own computer problems (with the help of good ol' Google). However I've been stuck with this for some time now. BSOD, Driver_power_state_failure. I can't really pin point a particular time this happens I'm afraid. I built this PC myself (my first one) about 7-8 months ago(?) and haven't really had any problems.

So far, I've reinstalled windows and updated all my drivers as recommended from many Google searches but I am still getting the same BSOD and frankly if I can't find the answer via Google I'm pretty much buggered . After reading the posting instructions I've used the diagnostic tool, so I'll attach the zip.

Driver Power State Failure BSOD?

Oct 1, 2012

To open with I did search the forums and find some similar posts, however there was no apparent solution other than disabling sleep mode or rolling back drivers neither of which are solutions acceptable to my company.I've recently started having a BSOD appear on my work laptop (HP Pavilion dm4), it seems to be when the laptop is shutting down to 'sleep' mode, at around the same time these bluescreens started up there also started to be connectivity issues with the wireless on board, it will connect for a variable amount of time, then simply drop the connection, usually for at least 20 minutes before reconnecting to the wifi, if I attempt to disable/re-enable the wireless card it seems to lock up in the midst of that process effectively forcing a restart. There have been no new drivers installed on this machine (all the drivers on the hp website are dated before the apparent manufacture date) and disabling sleep mode is unfortunately out of the question.

I can provide the minidump if that would be helpful, at this time I'm just looking for a direction to look in, as other than the apparent correlation between the blue screens and wireless issues I don't have many clues.
