i was wondering what would be the best upgrade wireless antenna for my lenovo laptop, here are some of the specs:
-Notebook: Lenovo Ideapad S10-3s (Ideapad S Series)
-Processor: Intel Atom N450
-Graphics Adapter: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150
Large house with twists and turns, 2 story, 3500 sq ft. Current router only works in half the house.

There are various wifi's all over campus.I'd like to get the best USB dipole antenna that will give me the farthest range to have a larger variety of signals.What do I need to look for? Does higher dbi mean further range? But it's only 3dbi, (per their website) but I've seen other wireless adapters around 5 & 6dbi. I was looking for a 300mbps data transfer, but the 5 & 6dbi antennas I see are only 150mbps..But I want something just like the Hawking, just an antenna that plugs right in a USB port.So is there a better option for further range than the Hawking?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed Windows 7 from booting from the disk formatting my HDD, all went well until the installation restarted my machine. I then get the error 'sync out of range' message. I've read in other forums that the answer to this is to start in safe mode and update drivers or lower res, the thing is, is that on your first start from the installation it wont let me start in safe mode, it tells me the 'i cannot start for the first time in safe mode restart in normal mode.

I'm not a pro or a novice, and realised it was to higher throughput for the monitor and hooked it up to my 32" hd tv in order to access the system.
Having been able to run windows update through 7 I assumed this would fix my problem.
Having put my system back on the oringal setup, it still displays this message so I wonder if any one can please shed some light on this please.

sometimes this happens only in certain level/area of a game..

My native resolution is 1600x1200 but when i change my resolution to 1600x1200 it says 'frequency out range'. I have intel g31 without other graphic card.Then i installed gma driver it shows complete list of all resolutions but i cant set any resolution above 1600x900.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of trying to expand my Windows 7 partition. However, I'm not entirely sure how to go about it in my particular circumstances.
I have about 7 gigs of unallocated space immediately prior on the drive to the System Reserved boot partition, with Windows 7 itself immediately following that.
Due to this layout I can't expand the Windows 7 partition directly; the partitioner also doesn't seem to offer any option to move either the boot or the 7 partition in front of the unallocated space to at least place the Windows 7 partition next to the unallocated space.
I would move the partitions with a different tool such as GParted, but I'm concerned that this may make it impossible to boot Windows 7 once again, as moving a Windows Vista partition once did.
I wonder whether anyone could offer some advice?
So, I have 2 computers 1 of them is a desktop pc the other one is a laptop, My Desktop pc is 2yrs old, my laptop is pretty new, 2months old or something, The icon selection range on my laptop is somewhat messed up, it's very large and stretched, here example: When it should be like this, The selection area on my pc is normal, not so stretched like on my laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnytime I play wow after a few minutes to a couple hours my computer will freeze up, sound will loop and the screen will say signal out of range, set to 1680 X 1050 at 60hz. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but my Nivida Geforce 555 already has these settings.I'm using windows 7 and I can't change my monitor(display) settings to 60, it reverts back to 59 because of some rounding thing windows 7 dose. Because of this wow also locks to 59 hz even though the nvida settings are 60hz, due to the monitor. Is there any way to lock ether wow or the monitor settings to 60hz to stop it from crashing?

So anyway ive managed to get everthing else working on my computer but am having a problem setting the native resolution of my LG Flatron L204WS monitor. I've had a search in this part of the forums and couldnt find anyone with a similar problem so i hope im not posting another unecessary post!
Graphic card: 8800 GTX
Driver version: Windows update, the newest Nvidia Drivers for windows 7
Monitor cable: VGA, as this is all it supports
The problem: When trying to set the native resolution of my monitor to 1680x1050 im getting the message from my monitor that it is out of range, i think the setting for refresh rate is at 59hz and wont change to 60. I have located some LG drivers for the monitor and installed those and now windows recognizes my monitor in the advanced settings but not in the direct window of screen resolution. Could this be why? Or could it be related to the fact that the resolution atm 1400x1050 works with 59Hz but 1680x1050 does not work with 59Hz?
Ive seen a few other posts with people stuck on 59 and not being able to change to 60 but there has been no real solution found as of yet. I think i have listed all the relevant information needed for a bit of troubleshooting only if you were so kind to have a look and have a ponder
O yes there was one other very strange oddity, when i run a game such as Team Fortress 2, i can set my resolution to 1680x1050 and it runs fine, how very odd! Thats where this problem stumps me even more!

I updated to Windows 7 and it told me to update and i went along with it and ever since i updated the driver i keep on getting a "out of range" screen when i turn on the comp so i have to go to Safe Mode and uninstall the driver in order to use my computer.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI love the Windows 7 Start Menu, and its versitality astounds me at times, but the inability for the "Computer" menu to be completely expandable cripples quite a bit of my productivity...
This problem does not exist with the personal menu, which quite frankly I could care less about completely expanding.
In general, Windows 7 has seemed to abandon the concept of expanding menus which can actually make things much much quicker at least for me, but I have gotten a separate toolbar working in the taskbar, but this seems inconvenient coming from someone who has always used classic menus on the Start Menu.
Don't get me wrong, I am very GLAD that Windows 7 makes such improvements to the way the start menu functions and in general these improvements have greatly added to my efficiency, but this really cripples someone like me!
I have two toolbars added to my taskbar; Remote and Games. When I hit Remote, I have like 15 or so RDP shortcuts in there. Sometimes I hit it, I see the proper height window open but it's just pure white with a black border for like 5 seconds until it pops the icons in there. I tried moving it from my regular drive to my SSD, didn't make any difference.
Has anyone seen a similar issue, and if so did you find a way to stop that?
im having trouble installing windows 7. i burnt the disc and started custom installation, and it copied all the windows files but then it got stuck on expanding windows files. it didnt freeze, it just didnt get past the last 1%. and the worst thing is i cant use the computer with vista anymore, because when i try to boot it up it opens up some kind of system restore that doesn't work. should i just leave the install screen on overnight
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk I have noticed alot of people have had problems with this myself included, and the answer is almost too simple.The problem I was having was once I got to the expanding files step it would get to 89% within a few minutes. Then it would hang for hours stuck at 89%. I tried restarting the installation 4 times. The first time it only got to 9% and stalled.So on my fourth attempt after watching it hang for a good 2 hours I ejected the installation disk in the middle of installation and popped in another another Windows 7 RC installation disk that I forgot I had just to see what would happen. What happened is it immediately finished expanding from 89% and the installation was complete in about 20 minutes.I should note that the first installation disk I was trying was a Memorex that had just been pulled from a jewel case prior to burning. The second disk I used was a Verbatim that had been burned some time ago and was actually pretty scratched up.Both of the disks where burned using the same .iso downloaded from MSDN using the same burner and ImgBurn as the burning software.

I am trying to build a dual boot system with the OEM 32bit Vista Home Premium and 64bit Windows 7. My machine is far above the specs and I have 3gb ram. I burned the image twice after reviewing the other posts in the forum. I burned the first on at 8x and after reviewing prev posts I burned again at 4x. Both freeze at the expanding files 0%. The first one would hang for hours until I told it to cancel. The new one hangs for a few minutes and then gives an error that there is a corrupt or missing file.I also read that this may be a result of ACHI but my bios does not allow me to disable.

I just installed Ubuntu to make my computer dual boot with Windows 7. When the option in Ubuntu came up to install it along Windows 7, I selected it. Well, after the install my monitor pops up a box saying "Out of Range" and nothing comes up, then Ubuntu boots. I never get the option to boot Win7. If I hit a button while the monitor is out of range, nothing boots.
