Error Accesing Lite On Drive In USB Enclosure

have a LiteOn DVD-RW model iHAS122-18 B that i have been using in a non-oem usb enclosure without any problems for several weeks now. But as it is i couldn't leave things alone because the write quality was rather crappy and so i flashed it with firmware from a (electronically identical but with more feature) LiteOn model iHAS524 B. Now i have a big problem it no longer works well on USB enclosure. it does work perfectly internally, on SATA cable but on USB when i insert a disk in it the computer locks.

I'm looking for a good cheap NAS drive enclosure that supports RAID 10, but I'm having a hard time trying to find one that is. I found some, but they only support RAID 0, 1, and 5.
I'm wanting to plug it into the router so that my desktop and WHS server can use it for storage with a few SATA drives in RAID 10 for speed and data protection.
Do you have any recommendations?

I took one of my old drive from my old computer and installed in the Antec MX-1 Actively Cooled Hard Drive Enclosure.Then I plug the USB into my note book, the USB to SATA bridge works fine.However, I can not see the drive in "My Computer".I have checked a few posts and I looked into Disk Management.I found that Disk 0 is the internal HDD for the notebook, and Disk 1 is the enclosure HDD, my old drive, but it says that the disk is dynamic and is invalid.Is that the reason why I can not see my drive in My Computer?If a convertion is a must, can I still keep my data?

I put my old hard drive into an external enclosure.(XP home) How can I transfer my files to my new laptop?
Windows 7 says to export the transfer utility to my old computer. My old computer won't boot up. I think the motherboard fried. Is there any way to import these files for transfer into my laptop from the (now) external hard drive?
I tried importing pics and finding my music. Access was denied on the "import pics" command, and I cant even see my music libraries.
I used my creative mediasource5 sniffer to search for MP3's on my external drive E. It found hundreds of little sound bites from the program files, but not my music that is in the old creative mediasource5 libraries and Windows media player library.
Many of my documents aren't showing up when I browse the files on my old hard drive E.

i bought a trix hard drive enclosure/case for my 2.5 250GB hard drive. I connected everything up and inserted the hard drive usb into my laptop but windows will not show the drive in my computer. It does make the beeping noise telling me its detected the drive and it also shows in device management.The strange thing is i tried installing linux on it and it did, but the computer will not boot into it from the enclosure, but does from the hard drive. Ive also tried it on 2 computers and both will not assign the drive and give it a drive letter.

I took out my Windows 7 boot drive and put it inside of a USB enclosure and when I try and go to my profile, I can't open Users folder on other computer. I don't have an administrator account on this other computer. Is there any way to open up the folder? It just says access denied when I try and open it up on a windows xp computer with no ADMIN privileges (I can't get admin on this computer).
On a XP computer that has admin it opens fine. I figured since I actually wasn't using the OS that was on the drive I wouldn't have any trouble reading any folders on it (but I guess that because it's NTFS there are more security measures, unlike FAT32 which would let anybody read anything). Would I just need to open up the folder on a computer with admin and then copy the things over while I still have admin.

can i use IDE DVD-ROM with USB Enclosure for IDE HDD? I want to backup and rip some dvd's which has some scratches but not that bad or unreadable but i dont like to put them in my DVD-RW.. i hava a spare SONY DVD-ROM Drive and SONY CD-RW.

I installed 2 hard drives using a caddy in my laptop, 1 SSD for the OS and 1 HDD for data. Every once in a while (once a year id say) I still need the DVD drive so I bought an external DVD enclosure (Generic). The problem right now is that windows doesn't recognize it or rather doesn't recognize it correctly.On windows 7 pro x64.here is a pic of the device manager so windows recognizes it a a disk drive automatically (changed it manually to optical drive) and adds a portable device (? WPD FileSystem Volume Driver). The drive appears in My computer but empty.
What Iv tried:
- chose manually all available drivers from windows in update driver.
- disabled power management on usb
- other usb port/computer (on Windows 7 32bits)
- using a power cable instead of the usb power cable
- google search for drivers using the device id ( USBSTORDISK&VEN_GENERIC&PROD_EXTERNAL&REV_1.12303030303030303030303030&0)

The USB plug on it has desoldered and ripped off of the PCB. I attempted to remove the drive and swap it into another aftermarket enclosure but I can no longer see the partition on the WD harddrive. I figure WD is using some kind of HW/SW encryption. Would I be able to buy another enclosure and swap the drives out to recover this lost data? If not, can I recover this data fully

I downloaded QT Lite to play my .MOV files and it doesn't show in Right Click > "Open With". Only the Configuration Settings and Uninstall are in Start > Programs. The application is listed in Program Files (x86) but when I double click the application nothing happens.
I was a bit surprised when it didn't add or give the option to add a desktop icon or shortcut. But it seems as though the app has not installed properly. But I downloaded it from: |MG| QT Lite 4.1.0 Download which is the main site.
I have tried it three times now, and I can't get it to work, even though I just installed it with the everything it suggested during the Install Wizard. I opened the Configuration settings and don't understand any of them, so I don't know what to check or uncheck.

removed the drive from the enclosure and got a SATA>USB dock thing for it. it didn't appear in the Computer with my internal drives but was visible in diskmgmt as "Healthy (Active, Recovery Partition)" but with the File System column empty and no letter assigned. right click only offers a menu with "Help" on it. used diskpart to assign a letter and it now appears in Computer but says all its capacity (except ~250mb) is free and, when I open it, there are no files to see, only a folder "Recovery", which is empty. in diskmgmt it still has no letter assigned. used a program called Recuva and it shows me some small files but nothing I recognise.

I have bought an HP 625 Laptop with Windows 7 Home 64bit. Having trouble connecting my vmc K3565 rev 2 dongle. Says device drive software installed successfully but when clicking on connect button says: Mobile connections not possible ensure that no other programs are using your selected device. Dongle works ok on my WXP machine.

since build 7068 I've been facing this problem with this network adapter, will try to explain as good as I can.
Problem as following: Everytime I start the pc after one or two minutes I lost my internet connection and when I try to restart the pc it hangs when shutting pc is showed, forcing me to shut it down only whit the power button.
I have tried to install the vista x64 driver that I have for this network adapter but cannot installed since is onlyfor vista x64, neither in compatibilty mode. After a few research managed to installed it via safe mode. and by now is working good but device manager shows a warning icon and a Cannot start device code 10.
any knows is theres a win 7 update driver?? can I just keep ignoring the code 10 till this bug is fixed??

I just recently installed 7 64bit over my Vista 64 bit (ultimate) and everything is great so far, except neither of my optical drives are available.

I initially got an error on both drives for "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. (code 52)"
Both listed the cdrom.sys driver but also the unsigned file GEARAspiWDM.sys in the windowssystem32 directory.
I figured I'd rename the GEAR file and uninstall/reinstall the drivers for the optical drives, but it just tells me that it loaded cdrom.sys but can't load any device driver for the hardware.
Device manager shows them with yellow caution tales and lists both reasons as "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)
On the driver details tab both show C:windowssystem32cdrom.sys as the driver and it shows it as signed.

I decided that I wanted this cheap dell laptop to run faster, so I used a tool to "strip down" my windows 7 32bit. It worked stupendously well. Everything seems two or three times as fast now as it was before.
BUT, I now have no wifi access. I confirmed that the wifi drivers are installed. They register as "working properly" but I am not finding ANY wifi signals. The problem is within the computer somewhere. Other computers in my home find 5 or 6 signals (as this one used to). The strip down tool also removed the network diagnostics feature of windows 7, so I am without recourse.
I am, however, able to connect to the internet through my iphone (pdanet) being directly connected to my laptop.

Im having HCL laptop which is infiniti LX Powerlite 9100EP.. And the Si no is 9083A1108487. Bt Im very sad to inform you that the webcam is not working on it when i change the OS to Windows 7... The driver CD only contain the drivers for XP and Vista, Im very disappoined about this problam. also the hot keys are not working.

I have 2 versions of windows; 7 Home Premium and Ultimate ...both are 64 Bit.
I have a Lite-On eSAU108 Black Slim External DVD Burner which works flawlessly on my laptop running windows Ultimate 64Bit. I just built myself a new system and wanted to use my external dvd burner rather than an internal drive
When i plug the burner into my rear usb 2.0 ports on my home premium version of windows 7 i have installed on my desktop it wont even detect the eSAU108 USB burner!
My initial thought is that I have a driver issue. Im fully updated with all my hardware except the motherboard BIOS and windows 7 home premium is fully updated.

I've just finished building my new computer and I'm getting BSOD errors when first formatting a hard drive and secondly (after a successful format) installing a game on it.My boot up SSD drive seems to be fine, it's just my other hard drive.64bit Windows 7 Home premium. I have a problem with Windows 7 and the c drive. I will try to explain a little bit the situation: have a Dell xps l501x with a home edition windows 7 licence.Since I prefer to use linux, I resized the Windows7 and create another partition for the linux distribution when I bought. So I had Windows 7 and linux (arch linux) working together for some months.I barely used Windows 7 so I decided to use virtualbox to use windows7 (the raw device as a harddrive). And here started the problems, because I ended with a black screen and the mouse pointer in windows7 (the probably was due to a resolution problem)After many months (as I said, I barely used it), yesterday I decided to fix the problem and I managed to do it. But now I have another problem that I don't know how to fix it (I'm not using virtualbox anymore).
When I start windows 7, the wallpaper is black with the infamous "compilation 7600" and many advice that "is not a genuine copy" (actually it is), and a lot of errors at start. Trying to use the OS:- Many application don't work. Even diskmgmt.msc doesn't work.- I can't access C drive, if I tried prompts an error about permissions, even if I change the permissions I can't access. And If I try to see the properties all the values in the c drive are "0 bytes" (size, free space...)Regarding that, I can't download anything.It seem the c drive is not recognized and I suppose that is the main problem.If I boot with the option "Directory Services Restore Mode" I can acces to C and everything seems to work better. And in the properties the values are correct (the size, free space....)

I have an Acer Aspire One Happy and have got this message:
"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
I have been searching for solutions all day but I can't do any of the options described. Pressing f8 to enter safe mode does nothing, nor does alt+f10. I also don't have a cd drive as its just a netbook and no recovery cd came with it even if I did have a portable one. Anyone have any ideas? I'm on a boat in the Arctic for the next month and without my laptop I will likely jump off an iceberg!

My HP Pavilion DV7 4267CL's hard drive went out last week. I bought a new one, the same brand name and specifications. I installed the drive, turned it on, inserted the first disc, restarted it and follow the prompts. I selected to reset factory default and continue to follow the on screen prompts. After installing all four discs, it restarted by itself and gave me an HP logo. It ask me to restart to complete installation. When it restarted again, it gave me a bootmgr is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart. I pressed it and it gave me the same error again. I did all the reinstallation 3x but no luck. I was getting the same error. So, I went to the bio boot utility by restarting the pc and preesing F10 while booting. I rearrange the booting sequence, dvd/cd rom drive, internal computer hard drive restarted it, inserted the first disc, turned off pc and reinstalled it and all 3 other discs. But at the end, I'm still getting the same error.

Getting an error when trying to connect to a network drive 'An error occured while re-connecting.No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept'Now this has been setup with a local folder on the server shared and is being mapped to 19 people on the network.I looked under advanced permissions and can see max allowed connections set to 20, there are 19 people in the company but the problem lies that some bring in their laptops and attempt to connect to to the existing shares as well which is obviously causing problems as I can only allow max '20' connections to this mapped folder.Is there any fix that will allow Win 7 Pro x64 I can enter in the registry to allow more connections?
