I've got a problem with my Windows 7 installation in that - it wont boot! Either in normal or safe mode!
I've tracked the problem down to a driver - CTMMount.sys which was installed by a recent installation of Comodo Time Machine - which has since been uninstalled but doesnt look like the uninstallation has worked correctly.
Therefore I could do with editing the registry/startup procedure so that this file doesnt attempt to load and then I can get back into Windows 7
1. I want to open the boot options in my dell laptop but when dell logo appears i press f12 as it is written there then nothing happens i want to change the boot settings. I also tried delete button but nothing happens. and even setup which opens by pressing f2 also not working..please help guys.
2. As per Windows 7 upgrade assistant guide i have lastly insert DVD of Upgrade assistant to upgrade drivers and other things but when i click on next then it freezes and giving Microsoft .NET Frame Unhandled Exception. What is this problem? I want to upgrade my drivers from CD but it is giving error. So please help me out guys.
3. This problem is related to 2 point that as i wrote that i am unable to upgrade drivers so i tried to find out drivers for Windows 7 32 bit on Dell site. But when i saw Dell site have drivers for only Windows 7 64bit.. So now what can i do? I can't install drivers and because of driver problems laptop is not working properly and i can't download drivers for Studio 1555 for windows 7 32 bit from site because it is not available.
My computer just shut itself down on its own last night.Upon restart all I get is an HP screen that says hit esc. to go to startup menu, and it takes me to a screen with like 5 different options. If you don't hit esc at the beginning it goes to a black screen with a white line looks like a cursor line.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy pc has been acting funny i ran the chkdisk wich begins when you boot up the pc. At some point i knocked the ac adapter out of my notebook without knowing it and it finally went dead in the middle of the chkdisk. It automatically rebooted and gave me the option to repair the harddisk using vista which i upgraded to 7 a couple of years ago and i would choose the the only other option which was start windows normally well every time i would do that win 7 would try to load and right before you get to ur user account icon where you type in your password the pc would reboot and start this same cycle over and over again. Nevertheless when it rebooted again i hit the fn keys like i was a receptionist typin 150 words a min and i think it might have been the f10 key but not sure and this is the list of options that popped up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows 7 Home preium OS. Five days before my friend installed MS Visual Studio and Sql Server 2008 in my laptop. From that day onwards, whenever, i am switch on my laptop, a message ""This action can not be completed because the other program is busy. Choose "switch to" to activate the busy program and correct the problem". Eventhough Switch to button is clikced the Windows startup will raise up. After 10 to 15 times of click, the message dissaperas. Also, I am observing that my WiFi connection takes a long time to connect to my office internet after this. Previously, once the screen appears, this will turn and catch the connection immediately. Now, after this message dissappears, then only the WiFi is detecting the network. Now, I have uninstalled Visual studio and MS Sql server from my laptop but not from my registry still.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 not booting! I have a Medion Laptop and it froze so I forced it off. Now when I load it in any mode (safe mode freezes after avg file) It will go to a black screen or a 0xc0000009 I/O error message. I've run it in start up repair and there aren't any system restore points available and start up repair took 17 hours before I decided to turn it off! My hardware doesn't make any strange sounds and my bios recognises my Hard Drive. Luckily, there's nothing important on the laptop so I don't mind if we have to reset it to factory settings as I have the Windows 7 installation disc as well!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop with broken lcd. So im using it now as desktop, connecting it to an external lcd monitor.Last night I suspected a worm and tried to boot up in safe mode by pressing F8 but couldn't make it work because windows only activate the external monitor by the time it has finished loading drivers. The result was it keeps booting into normal mode. So, I remembered there's another way to boot into safe mode by accessing boot options in msconfig...Now I'm stuck with safemode and cannot do anything because safemode doesnt enable external monitor. I know for sure that I could enter password and get into safemode but I can't tell what should I press or click to access to that msconfig windows again to return boot options to normal state.

Anyone else experience this with Win 7 Professional?
I got this new computer and at some point I went into the boot option to try and install my PC to it's factory settings but when I opened up the boot option it showed something like this but not exactly:
1. MC43689SGDAL7
2. MATSHITADVD-RAM
This is very random and unusual and I have found no fix and as you should know it should look something like this:
1. CD/DVD Drive
2. USB
3. Hard Drive
4. something else
Even in my Bios menu it shows the same thing and I cannot change it so I can't boot from a USB or CD, etc.
I've never experienced this message before. I have not had a virus or malware be detected in a year. This came up when I tried to close KVIRC, an IRC client program and turn off my laptop via the power button. Was this a glitch or something? I'm really hoping it isn't a virus. I haven't experienced any performance issues so..I should add the laptop appeared to freeze. I powered down, rebooted, and everything seemed to run normally.UPDATE: Microsoft security essentials picked something up with a full system scan. Not sure if the 3 viruses were related.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my computer I have 3 primary partitions:
1. "System reserve" which contains e.g.the Bootmamanger and MBR
2. First Win 7 installation ("main")
3. Second Win 7 installation ("reserve")
When I boot now at first the Bootmanager on the first primary partition is called/started which in turn starts the boot menu. In the boot menu there are currently two entries:
Windows 7
Windows 7
So I cannot distinguish between the "main" and the "reserve" Win 7 installation. How exactly can I modify/rename the two "Windows 7" entries in boot menu? After selecting and booting the actual Windows 7 installation the other Windows 7 installation is visible as a separate partition in WinExplorer:
C: Running Windows 7
D: DVD drive
E: Other (non-booted) Windows 7
How can I automatically hide the other Windows 7 installation? The drive E: should be available e.g. for USB sticks or network drives.
After a recent crash, my boot up sequence now starts with a boot loader giving me the option of starting either of two windows 7 versions or doing a memory check. I don't want to go through this step. Is there any way to select a default version to run and forgo the boot loader options?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a computer tech, and I service a lot of different computers for many different people. In the old days, I could make a bootable floppy with all my utilities on it, and be on my way. Now, of course, few people have floppy drives, but I still need a way to boot all the different computers I find, whether 32-bit or 64-bit. I created a Ubuntu Linux CD, but I don't know the software well enough to display any directory tree apart from the Linux system (I can't browse the Windows directories, or even see the Windows directories). I have a pair of new 16 GB USB flash drives that I would like to make bootable. What should I put on them, and how would I do it? I think I managed to get Win 7 64 on one, but that probably isn't the OS I want to use for my application.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to Boot to the Advanced Boot Options in Windows 7 ?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a multi-boot setup which currently has Windows 7, Win XP Pro 32 bit, and Win XP Pro 64 bit. Prior to installing Win 7, all boot options would show on the first screen, regardless of how many I had. Since installing Win 7 yesterday, however, I get only two options on the boot selection screen:
Earlier Version of Windows
Windows 7
Is there a way to force the system to show all three options on the first screen? Win 7 is not my primary OS, so having to select "earlier version", then select the XP option I want is difficult.
I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a notebook which previously ran Vista. No problems there .....
I've now installed Ubuntu (now updated to 10.04) so that it can boot to either OS. It all works fine and when I first power up, I get a screen which invites me to select the OS I want to use. There are however two problems:
1) it defaults to Ubuntu (whereas I would prefer it to default to Windows 7), and
2) the list of choices is getting increasingly complex with an expanding list of choices (with each major update of Ubuntu adding more); it even seems to include an option to go back to Vista!
As long as I move down the list and make the right selection quite speedily, I get to where I want to be (though, as I say, I would like to change the default option).
Is there any way I can edit/shorten this list without damaging the functionality and how can I change that default?
Restarting pc gives me an error report saying "windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause" this screen appears no matter what I do. 2 options also occur on this screen, 1st being restart windows which returns to the same screen again and 2nd which is to launch startup repair which freezes on a loading screen(I've left it for ~12 hours lol). Tapping f8 opens advanced boot options but safe mode and repair you computer do nothing..as in no options or change in screens after I click..(I can't get to factory restore image)

I get a lot of artifacts in the games such as MW3 and I've tried everything from uninstalling to searching the registry for entries about ATI and AMD.Thats not why I'm here though. I want to try a factory restore. I've backed up all my important information so I'm ready. The problem is when I press F8 at boot, I get no options. My PC - a Dell Inspiron One 2305 did not come with any disc.If it helps I had to do a factory restore before when I had a bad virus. I had to use a program called EasyBCD?
