I have been really choosy in downloading Microsoft Updates and most of the time I only install updates like "update for microsoft windows 7 and security updates for windows 7". Do you guys install the .Net framework 4 updates? and is it really necessary?

Everytime I start the computer this update is ready to be installed again. Evertime this file has been installed the installation has been successful. If the instalation was succesful why does windows keep on intalling it over & over again. Does anyone know the answer to this problem I am having. Once a new update has been succesfully installed, Windows 7 should not have to install it over & over again.

I have 2 windows updates that haven't installed for about a month now. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656351)
Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2600217) I don't have a clue why but everything installs fine. I install them, restart my computer and everything does its thing while that's happening and they just pop up again when I do a search for updates after computer has restarted.
When I select updates to download it starts preparing for download, but does not download. Said something about internet connectivity. I have no problems with the internet, updates for programs regularly download, etc..On the failed downloads the error messages are: Codes: 643, 57, C355, 9. Updates either do not start to download at all or after about 20 minutes of preparing to download they will download and then fail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedTried installing the updates individually and from the Microsoft Download Center. I also ran Microsoft FixIt, but that didn't help. I have been able to install other windows updates with no problems at all, but I can't download them. I believe that there is still a rootkit on this computer so I think that it may be the source of the problem. I have tried to remove the rootkit in the past, but I am not going to buy a whole new version of windows because of the rootkit.

Everything is fine, but the updates take forever, and need you to be around to continually restart the computer numerous times. I downloaded WUD and downloaded every update at once, but still found that they could not all be installed at once (Unless I did something wrong), So I was wondering if there is some way you can install all the windows updates at once, as that would save me so much time, as some of the updates take forever to install, making the whole process a good 4-6 hour job sometimes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAlright, so after updating my pc a few days ago and managing to install SP1 for windows 7, my computer now constantly "downloads" information which results up to 100's of mb's per hour wasted.. and thus having a limited cap amount, I need to find a way to stop it. Why I say this now, is because ever since I updated windows 7, so the "downloading" has started and it never used to do this before.I have told windows to not start up apps like iTunes and Skype etc. But this hasnt had a effect. Is there anything else I can do to stop this?

However, today upon starting, it was saying "preparing desktop" and it was as though I had done a clean install with all my icons gone from the task bar, and no wallpaper appearing either? I have since read online that other people were having problems including BSoD etc?! The reason I use this setting is because even though I usually install the updates (because mostly they improve things), sometimes I'll see an update that I know I do not want to install. It adds time to each boot up period as it goes through the updates and then at the end will say it's failed and is reverting all the changes. I have already done some research on this issue and ran "sfc/scannow" as well as "chkdsk/f/r." Both seemed to go through with no problems. After that I did a Windows update and 12 updates seemed to go through with no problem until the required reboot where we're back to the same issue of failing and reverting.

I recently bought a notebook PC, and was quite annoyed to find that Intel has magically removed the ability to change the Centrino N 130 wireless adapter's MAC address.Before the nutters get in here with accusations of "illegal" activity, I feel obligated to point out that there is nothing "illegal" about changing the MAC address on my own property. Briefly, I want to pose my notebook as a hypothetical attacker, trying to bump one of my other wireless devices off the router by assuming its MAC address. I don't really know what would happen if I did this, because, like I said, Intel artificially crippled the Centrino N 130 through its Windows 7 drivers. Rather paternalistic of them.Another benefit of the proposed experiment: showing the futility of MAC filtering in keeping out the "bad guys." I have been convinced of this for some time, but been simultaneously unable to demonstrate it to my own satisfaction. There is no substitute for actually trying something, rather than just reading about it.
I am also a little annoyed at the Centrino N's (lack of) performance. I have yet to have it connect at greater than 72 Mbit/s, even while sitting less than 10 feet from the router with a clear line of sight.FWIW, my router is a NetGear WNR3500v2. N wireless is enabled. As far as I know, this router is capable of supporting a full 300 Mbit or so 802.11n wireless connection, as long as the wireless NIC on the other end is doing its part (which mine doesn't).With all that in mind, can someone suggest an N-capable wireless NIC that is not purposely crippled by its manufacturer? I would prefer an internal mini-PCIe card, but Intel seem to be the only ones making those. Even a G-capable or USB device would probably serve the purpose, if that's all that's available.

I know this has been raised in the past but my problem is slightly different.I prefer to choose "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them", however periodically the settings change without my consent to "Never check for updates".This is very frustrating as I am constantly having to keep an eye on this, and change the settings back to what they were in order to receive critical updates, or indeed any other update.The laptop was bought new just under 12 months ago and came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit pre-installed.Has anyone else experienced this, or can anyone advise on a fix?

(running windows 7 64 bit) EVERY download Microsoft has for 64 bit net frame work 2.0 will not install. I have uninstalled the Lexmark printer, tried every version of 2.0 and still cannot get the Lexmark Studio to run. When the printer was first installed , the Studio program worked.
The error would pop up , I would clear it and then the program ran. I run the troubleshooter and it says the program is incompatible now. I have tried running it in different compatibility modes with no luck. Tried Lexmark support and so far they have been no help. can any one help me?

By never going on line, I think this is the greatest virus protection ever. Anyway, to install the Framework 4 from Microsoft, one of the requirements is to be on line, which I do not want to do. are by default unchecked for me. When I check them, I get the following message:
"An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed." When I click ok, I says it needs to restart to apply the changes. After restarting and going back to the same places, the above two boxes are still unchecked.
Any information as to why this might be and what can be done to ratify the situation would be most welcome. I need to open a program which requires Net Framework.
