I need to change my icon for my My Documents folder within my Users folderHowever, under the Customize tab, there is no 'Change Icon' button like I find for other folders (for example, those within the My Documents folder). The same is the case for any of the special User folders (My Pictures, My Videos, Downloads etc) - I haven't got the option of changing any of the icons.
my notebook desktop icon all change to Microsoft word icon also the extensions change to LNK file (.lnk) except my computer and recycle bin icon, I used windows 7 ultimate x64?
I have win 7 home prem & would like to remove desktop icons that I never use (from the desktop). These icons are: documents, libraries, control panel, my documents, desktop. I normally delete icons by right clicking on the icon & selecting "delete." However, when I do this to "my documents" it starts to delete the data not the icon. I'm now afraid to delete the any of the above because I don't want to loose the information. I tried using "personalize" from the desktop but no luck.
I installed a wireless laser printer. To install...you must connect locally with a USB cable to enter the wireless network's password. This process installed a printer locally and the associated icon was the correct icon. I then set it up wirelessly and when it completed...the icon looked like a fax machine.
The icon I want to use exists somewhere.
1) How do I tell what icon is being used for a device
2) How do I specify the icon I want to use for a device.
I have a colleague who is having problems with documents being saved in 'My Documents' but which are then not visible. After consulting our external IT company, we were told it because the 'Arrange By' option in My Documents was set to 'Name' and it should be set to 'Folder'.
My colleague changed this and it solved the problem. However, every day it reverts to the default arrange by 'name' setting, and she has to manually change it to 'folder'.
How do I change the settings so that it arranges by 'folder' by default?
Main computer is the office computer. Its a desktop that a person is constantly on and doing stuff. There are 3 others that need the same information and documents at any given time. These 3 people have their laptops that are constantly switching wifi hotspots. They need to change information sometimes, and need access to all of it any time. The way its setup now is 1 person is on the main computer, but when one of the three need to access it, they remotely log in and take control. Only one person can access the computer at a time. How do I set it up so all four of these people can access and change the files at the same time if they want? The main computer is being used constantly, but someone always needs a document or file while the main person is working on it. So it slows production when someone logs in.
In Windows 7, all the good icons are in %SystemRoot%system32imageres.dll, but we're still taken to the old SHELL32.dll when it comes time to change an icon.
Is there a registry key or something that we can change to remedy this?
I use Win 7, and my "My Documents" icon is missing. I know the folder is there, but because I cannot put my documents there due to the missing icon, I have had to create a different folder called "Documents." But I notice some of my files go to either one.
how to restore the "My Documents" icon so I can move all my documents there?
I use Google chrome for my normal browsing but since I am a forum moderator,I must use IE(the reason is that IE shows the preview of what you've done in a topic(e.g Hyper linking , importing an image and etc)but other browsers will show the html based topic(when you are writing one I mean)and since IE8 is so junk!!! I decided to move to IE9.But the point is I really don't like it's icon.Is there a way to change IE9's icon? Or are there any other browsers that show the preview of a topic when you are writing one?
There is a nice range of icons for windows 7, but there were a few that I really liked in windows vista ultimate that I don't seem to be able to find.
One of which that I can remember is the network icon, in vista you could right click, change icon... and I remember being able to select an network icon that was like two monitors stacked on top of each other creating 4 montiors total, and at the bottom was just like any other vista-windows 7 network icon, a connector tube.
I am unable to find this icon to change the desktop icon for "network" in windows 7, does anyone know the icon I am talking about, and any way to download or obtain it in some other way to use?
Sometimes when I restart, my icon would change to that image, I check the location and the orignal is also that, yet the program still works, any ideas?
I've been trying to find a way to change the default icon size in Windows 7. My machine defaults to 'small' icon size, but I prefer the 'large' one, in just about every case. Instead of needing to manually change the size for each individual folder, is there a way I can set 'large' to be the default for all folders? I couldn't find anything in the control panel and haven't been able to find anything about setting a default size yet.
I want to change the desktop icon for a website. However, when I right click and select properties and then click on change icon, there are only three (3) choices. How do I get more choices? On my old vista computer there seemed to be about a hundred choices.
So I'm trying to change the icon of a particular file type. i.e., pdf icon is gone for some reason so I want to put one there. All i can find on the net is 'open up file types manager' but how it will be done? I am using Windows 7 x64 home premium.
I just installed a new theme on my computer. The background is lighter than previous themes. Contrary to instructions, the Font color remained white, which makes reading the icons difficult. I have performed a search, but I have been unable to find a way to change the font color to black.
You know the highlight color for when you click on icons is blue, I'm not talking about the thing in the Advanced Options under personalization, but the color that highlights the icons when you click on them. I want to change that from blue to red, and I don't know how. I think there is a registry key you need to modify to do it. I did it in linux, but this is Windows.
I right click on the FOLDER > PROPERTIES > CUSTOMIZE and CHANGE ICON but whatever picture i choose the folder icon doesn't change.
I've tried renaming the picture to .ico but that doesn't help either. I put the picture into another new folder by itself but that doesn't help either.
I get the error message : "The file contains no icons"
This is not a default icon inquirey Neutron16 for his/her tutorial on mass icon change using a predefined folder with custom icon as source. Closest thing to what I want yet, but not quite there yet.I want to be able to write a bat, script, exe (visual basic) to change the icons by icon name. i.e. File named x.avi, code looks in icon directory for icon named x.ico, file named y.avi, code looks in icon directory for icon named y.ico, etc. What I've found so far is that once a folder has had a custom icon, I can change the desktop.ini and the folder icon will change as well. If I restore the folder icon (custom properties dialog) or if the folder has never had a custom icon, changing the desktop.ini file never changes the folder icon, even after closing and reopening the windows explorer. This implies there is another folder property which must be set.I'm not strong in bat file command but I understand that xcopy copies everything including all properties. This is why Neutron16's bat works and my code does not.
I use LibraryIconChanger for my libraries (videos, documents, music, and so on), but I can't change the 'Libraries' folder with it. The libraries folder is the one you right click to add a new library, just to avoid any confusion (though I'm sure you got that). I can't use Folderico on it because for some reason it won't allow it.
