View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reinstalling Windows 7, I've never been able to play a single video game on my computer (really defeating the purpose of an Alienware). When I try to run Unreal Tournament 2004, the error message reads CRITICAL ERROR: Please enable Direct3D acceleration. You can do this by starting dxdiag and enabling it in Display tab after installing DirectX 8.1b (or later) and latest drivers. Woohoo. So I went to dxdiag, and it says that DirectDraw Acce;, Direct3D Accel, and AGP Texture Accel are all disabled. I went to see what the graphics card is, because I forget...and Windows can't even tell me what card it is. I have no clue. Also, I can't even use the ethernet port on the computer to hard wire a internet connection; I have to use my wireless usb plug in from Netgear.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 (build 7000) on my older dell inspiron 700m. Everything has been running smoothly except for what i believe is a video driver problem. My screen max res. is 1280x800 but it's limiting me to 1024x768 right now. I also can't do things like screen-savers, because when I try to enable them, instead of the preview, i get a message saying that it isn't compatible with Direct3D. I went to the dell website and looked around for the newest driver.
On my system info page, it says that I'm using a standard VGA graphics display.
I didn't have this problem on XP SP3
Any help would be great.
just installed windows 7 ultimate because my old hardrive packed up on me, and now i find that my direct3d- directdraw-& agp acceleration are not available, can anyone advise me on how to enable them. enable & disable function not listed in my directx display.
View 8 Replies View Related[code] Lately my DirectX 11 disables itself. I have to reboot to fix it. The last time it happened Aero was still working. I turned off Aero and turned it on again and it doesn't work. In dxdiag, DirectDraw, Direct3D, and Texture all are disabled. DDI Version also shows as Unknown. I restarted and all is fine. I have had Windows 7 for about a month now and this has only happened the past 1-2 weeks. My ATI drivers are from Asus and are 8.703.Is there any other information I should look for and post?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently reinstalled Windows 7 (32-bit Ultimate). It seems there is some problem with 3D stuff on any OS I try. After the setup, when it was checking the video performance it crashed as well. And now every time I try to run that program which gives you system's rating in Windows 7 it crashes within a few seconds (on Running Direct3D Aero Assessment). If I try to play any games it crashes almost immediately as well but other than that everything seems to be working perfectly fine. I can watch movies and browse the internet on Chrome for hours (weirdly it crashes on Firefox after some time...) I had the same problem on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Windows Vista Home Premium x32 as well... And all Event Viewer is showing is that ID 41 Error which doesn't really tell anything. :/ Before all these Vista and Windows 7 installations I used Windows XP and it seemed to be working pretty good but it would crash on certain games too.
I've tried changing back to XP but everytime I try to install it I get a BSOD telling me to run checkdisk (I've used 2 different CDs to try and install it because I thought maybe some files on my CD were corrupt or something but I got the same BSOD). I ran chkdsk and it didn't find any problems. I'm not really good with computers scomputer specs:Intel Core Duo 2.20GhzATI Mobility Radeon HD 45704GB RAMWindows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit
I am using the intel i7 2600k processor with the built-in hd3000 video. I tried playing Mass Effect 2 and got an error saying Direct3D could not be accessed because youy computer is locked. I am running directx 11 according to my dxdiag run, run i believe hd3000 does not support this. Is there a way to downgrade to a lower version of directx or fix this issues another way?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to dxdiag, on the display tab, it says direct 3D acceleratoin: Not available. And I need to enable it for a game.Another weird thing that might have something to do wiht the problem: In the device manager, when I open Display adapters section, there is one item called "Standard VGA graphics adapter", and my graphics card is ATI Radeon Mobility 5650, which is not shown there.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently changed my hardware acceleration and lowered it to the lowest option. Now I want to change it back to the original settings that it was on, how can I achieve that?
When I go back to screen resolution->advanced settings->trouble shoot the change settings button is not clickable, so therefore I cannot change the settings.
If there aren't any possible ways, is there any way I can just put my laptop screen back to default settings any thoughts?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the direct X, but DX diag shows me that there's no acceleration, so most of my games can't be played, I downloaded a file called INF_allOS_9.3.0.1026_PV, but it doesn't want to install.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWas just wondering how would I reduce hardware acceleration since there are no buttons and/or sliders in the DirectX Diagnostic tool.
Need it for an old game; NFS SE
The only way to get it work is if its on a FAT32 drive and the sound acceleration is turned to its lowest!
Its OK if there's not any way to do this, since I can just go over to XP to play!
And besides, I think there was no Hardware Acceleration control in Vista as well, right?
I tried to test Windows 7 64-bit on VirtualBox 3.0.4 but Vbox told me that I need to turn hardware acceleration on in the BIOS.. I currently have a Dell M1530 Windows 7 32-bit.
1. Why isn't this on in the first place?
2. What are the pros and cons of having it enabled?
3. Will it make by laptop hotter/slower?
I have onbored Intel GMA X4500HD which intel claims has hardware acceleration for HD movie playback.
I could never get this to work properly with vista even with the power dvd HD codec installed?
I also tried all the dodgy codec packs available (which in my experience courses more harm than good) in my quest for low cpu usage during 1080p or just any HD playback in general really. And although my monitor isn't even a HD monitor it's still above standard definition & I just like to know things are working as there advertised I guess? Plus I plan to get a HD monitor when my finances permit me to?
I also had this problem with my old pc with an ati card installed aswell.
Anyways I installed windows 7 & hardware acceleration works right out of the box, literally. No codecs & no messing about it just works as advertised. The codecs are there already & work as they should do for once. My cpu usage is down from 30/70% to 0/20% max now. It was 70/100% without any codecs & 30/70 was the best I could get with vista.
With Windows 7 Microsoft has really hit the nail on the head for me, so to speak. Bootup times are so fast & so far I haven't had to install a single codec for once.
It's like a refined vista with all the same features plus a few more just for good measure.
