My and my familly have four computers. Two are laptops. One Laptop is Running Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit (Upgraded from Vista Home Premium), another is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Neither of these have any problems. However, the two desktop computers we own have the same problem. Both are made by Dell. My desktop, running Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit SP1 turns off randomly, without displaying a "shutting down" screen and without downloading or installing any updates. This has been happening for the last three months (when I first started using the computer), yet has got more common starting two weeks ago, happening five times since then, three in the last 48 hours. The computer sometimes turns off while typing, however the last two times it has turned off the mouse and keyboard (while on, according to their lights) have stopped moving on the screen for two-five seconds before the computer turns off.
I had my computer on and after a little wile it just turned off. After turning it back on it displays a "windows has failed to start a recent ..." And after clicking the repair option it is in the middle of loading it then it just turns of and I have the whole problem again. If I wait a day or so I can successfully repair it according to the popup but the. After a while it turns of again and the whole problem starts over again. The thing is I have not made any changes to my computer regarding software or windows 7 this just happened randomly.
i have been having problems lately with my PC.It has been turning off randomly. But only seems to happen when i am playing games requiring high performace.Say im playing Call of Duty Black Ops on my PC.After 1 hour or 2, my PC randomly turns off. url...And i have added a new Graphics card, the nVidia GTS450.When i am playing my core temps are usally 40-46 Celsius and GFX card 50-60 Celsius.I play on highest settings with 1600x900 and get 60 fps (limit)
My father has a Toshiba Satellite P755-S5215 laptop with Windows 7 and an Intel inside Core i3 processor. It has occasionally had the issue of turning itself off randomly during boot up, upon logging on, or shortly after logging on. However, it has become much more chronic ever since I hooked it up to use the television to use as a monitor. I plugged it in using a 15-pin monitor cable. The computer was off when I plugged it in and when I removed it. I don't know for sure if the two events are related.
i have an msi computer about 2years old and i can be on facebook and it just shuts off completly and i have to restart it. Then it will let me back on for a while and it does the same thing.
My Desktop freezes or crashes and sometimes random restarts when i'm doing intensive gaming.Sometimes when im not doing anything but watching a movie or searching the internet. I have attached a
I have a 2007(?) Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit installed for quite a while now and it's been working fine. However, a few days ago the wireless stopped working. I've checked the Device Manager to see if there was anything wrong with the driver, and there wasn't any red X's or yellow exclamation points. I uninstalled it anyway, shut down my computer, and rebooted. Driver is reinstalled but wireless card isn't picking up any networks. When I hit Windows Key + X, it brings up the Windows Mobility Center and under the Wireless Network box, the button to "Turn wireless on" is greyed out. Weird. As it stands now, the ethernet port still works and when I have it unplugged, the icon shows the wireless bars with a red X in the corner.I've disabled my Avast! anti-virus program as well. It is not running after I rebooted my computer again. Also, going to cmd and typing ipconfig shows the "Media State....Media Disconnected".
I'm having a problem with my notebook. It keeps turning display off after idle for 2 or 3 minutes and going into sleep mode around five minutes after that. I did change and set power system in control panel many times but it did not work. I'm running on Window 7 home basic 64 bit.
when my computer goes to sleep after it's on for a while when I move the mouse to get the screen back up it shows the backround no icons or anything to click. Same if I turn it off and turn it back on. I have to turn it off and on many times then go to safe mode and shut down then turn it on again for it to work. Just now I had to turn it on/off 4 times for it to show the icons and task bar. Usually it is left blank with nothing to click having no choice but to turn it off. Norton says no viruses. My computer is HP with windows 7. I bought it in 2011.
I have a 6 month old dell inspiron one (AIO) ReCENTLY AT RANDOM TIMES THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK FOR NO REASON. IT DOES NOT SHUT DOWN...THE SCREEN JUST GOES BLACK.
my Action Center in windows7 keep telling me about my windows security is turn off seems ok after i turned it on. But when computer restart/reboot it happen again.
Got an HP Probook 4310s. I turned off the bluetooth. Then I upgraded from xp to windows 7. I got a BT mouse and can't figure out how to turn the bluetooth back on.
So basically I just installed my FX-4130 with 8GB ram, and I need to get a 64-bit OS. I read through some sites etc. and seems like you must boot your computer with an OS DVD in order to turn 32-bit into 64-bit. So my question is, can I boot up an upgrade DVD or do I need an OEM one? Also do most places that sell OS's have OEM's too? Windows 8 upgrade costs only 59€ now, normally 270€ so I'd get that if I can turn my computer into 64-bit with that.
My notebook is loaded with Windows 7 Starter. From past 2 days I notice that the McAfee antivirus is turning OFF and ON by itself and in parallel the Windows Update as well is turning OFF and ON by itself. Despite I manually put it back ON, after some times it goes OFF. My antivirus software is upto date though.
Windows 7 laptop set to turn off screen after a few minutes of inactivity using Windows 7 power options. Sometimes the screen turns on/wakes up while in this state seemingly randomly for no reason.
It's running an Opera session, gadgets for weather, CPU monitor, and calendar. Sometimes runs other apps but that doesn't seem to affect this behavior at all.
No notifications pop up when this happens, no errors. No viruses, CPU usage is very low (single digits). No new applications installed, nothing really installed besides windows updates and Opera update (this didn't change anything). Nothing obvious changed since before this started happening besides these updates. No graphics driver updates. Windows 7 install is about 5 months old.
I recently installed Windows 7 coming from XP. My on board sound is turned off while idle. There is no option in power management to disable this nor is it available in the device manger settings. My motherboard is an ASUS M4A87TD EVO with VIA VT1818 on board audio.
I have a USB TV Tuner which works fine to watch TV in WMC. However, when a programme is set to record, and my laptop goes into sleep mode, I believe it turns off the USB TV Tuner, and therefore the programme doesn't record. WMC support center says that the program is able to record when the computer is in sleep so I know it is not the program which is the issue.
In windows XP, I could turn off the annoying "remember folder settings" that forced each folder to have it's own settings instead of always being in the same as the one I left it when I closed it. Windows 7 does not do that. I can tell it to "make all folders like current" which isn't what I want. Is there an option or was that removed to be made inferior to XP in another way?
my wireless on windows 7 stops working or changes to another flormat but it still tells me the wireless is working. the only way to get it to start is to turn off the computer. it turns of while in use.

Is it required to restart the system after turning On or Off of the Windows Firewall. As I Turned Off the Windows Firewall for some Purpose, but I am not finding the solution. If it is required to Restart the Suystem or not.
I recently just got my firewall back up and running and now i have a new problem my windows system is turned off and i cannot get it back on. Everything seem to be working fine until about a week ago i have windows security essentials on it now, i have deleted almost everything that i do not use on my computer and yet it run absolutely slow. People tell me that i may have to restore but i was hoping for another way around that if there is any or an inexpensive software
my pc has been acting weird lately, it has began randomly crashing frequently. I turn it on and after 3 or so minutes of random activity it just freezes or gives me a blue screen error. Sometimes while playing BF3, it freezes.[CODE]
When the PC is on it will depending on how long its been on will randomy just shut off. When it shuts off, it "sometimes" reboots but most often it "tries" to reboot but fails and then stays off. After this failed try to reboot if I press the power button on the case and mobo, nothing. Now if I turn OFF the PSU leave it for a few minutes and come back turn the PSU switch on and press the power button the system comes to life for a second or two then dies and will no respond to the power buttons until I turn off the PSU again.I have gotten it up and running from this state by leaving it off and unplugged for a couple of hours. When I say the PC comes to life for a second or two, I mean the case fans. If I get it booted up the BIOS is reset to default for some reason. Also if it makes it to windows, the notification area icons also gets reset... very very odd.I have a short video of the problem, sorry for the darkness, I finally decided to video it and it was 11pm.PSU dying or Mobo. I dont have extra's so I cant test them.Forgot to mention, ive checked for heat problems but none of my temps are high, they are all normal and its a Antec 1200 with tons of air movement.Event Viewer shows nothing expect for unexpected shutdown. My event viewer is clean from any errors also. I do not get any BSOD and this is on a fresh Windows 7 install from late Jan.
I am using kaspersky internet suite and disabled windows firewall. The problem is that turning the windows firewall off turns the pulic/home file/printer sharing and network discovery on.Turning on or off these settings starts the firewall.Disabling the firewall service permanently allows file sharing and network discovery for both public and home network, which cannot be turned off.I tried uninstalling kasperksky but nothing has changed.
How bad is turning off UAC?To install the scalix connector for windows 7 we have to turn off UAC i understand that this will also disable virtualization. Will this impact a users performance? And what if any are issues that we might run into by disabling UAC?Should we turn UAC back on?
