I have a dell monitor when I installed Windows 7 on my celeron computer it seems that monitor is somehow disoriented of flickering whenever its opening up. Is this harmful to the monitor? I have an ATI built in video card. I'm just testing win 7 on this computer. I can't wait till finish buying the parts for my new computer.
View 2 RepliesI have always used an external monitor when using windows vista and now that i have upgraded to windows 7 when i plug in my external monitor it flashes on and off. I have changed the refresh rate on the monitor and all it does is change how fast the external monitor flashes. Also, I had this problem when using windows vista and I changed a setting in windows task scheduler and it fixed it. Tried doing the same thing in 7 and the problem is still there. In addition, I tried using a different monitor cable and the problem is still there.

I set up two monitors and have them set to extend. Everything has been great up until about a few days ago. One morning I turned the PC on and my 2nd display was totally black. It was turned on and Windows was detecting it but I couldn't see anything. I drug a tab from Firefox over to the monitor and dropped it and the screen started flickering and eventually came on. Everything was cool for the next two days.
A few days later, it happened again. This time, I could faintly see that the screen was on just very dark because I could see the outlines of the Firefox window I drug over there. Now it happens every time I turn the PC on. It eventually stats flickering and comes on on it's own and stays on until I shut the PC off again.
I also can't even see the monitor's menu when I press the menu button on it. Does this sound like an issue somewhere in Windows, or just a failing monitor? It's a bunch of years old and was sitting in my basement for over a year until I built this new PC. I'm just curious because it worked fine for weeks after I started using it again.
I recently purchased a computer in Sept 2012 from Dino PC in the UK where I live. It has been running very well apart from an irritating red dot problem. My pc has an Intel i5 3570k processor (not over clocked) which has no additional graphics card and runs using the on board graphics HD 4000. I don't play computer games. I have connected my monitor (a Hanns G HG 216D) to another computer to check that my monitor or cables were not at fault and the lines of red dots do not appear.
I have my monitor connected to the pc with a VGA cable but I have also connected my monitor to my pc with 2 different HDMI cables and the red dots still appear. I have also connected my pc to a tv to use as a monitor with a different HDMI cable and the red dots still appear. These red dots didn't appear immediately when I first had the pc. I believe that they began to appear once I started updating my pc with the latest windows 7 updates (x64 bit).
The red dots appear horizontally across the monitor screen each time I switch on the pc at the very bottom edge of the screen (in small columns) then when the Asus screen appears (motherboard is Asus p8z77-V LX) in a single line horizontally across the middle of the screen, then again in a single line horizontally when the windows 7 start up screen appears. They then appear again if I have an image in the centre of the screen which is a dark block.
In this case they are grouped together in a horizontal block about 4 dots high and about 30 dots wide to the centre right of the dark area. The line of dots only appears horizontally and in red on dark screens. Occasionally I have seen the same lines of dots on a light coloured block in the centre right of the screen when the dots are pale blue and in the same formation. If I move the mouse over the red dots when they appear in a centre block of a dark colour the red dots momentarily disappear.
When ever I start a game the monitor goes blank, well almost blank (little white blinking cursor in top left) for a couple of seconds and then its fine again.
Anyone have this issue?
my dell n4010 (14R) is working fine if no software is installed on win 7 but after installing small software of daily use. If shutdowned is being not able to start.what kind of proble is this. hardware or software.

I'm using dell 2408 monitor and having an issue with screen resolution. It only lets me set at 1920 x 1200. I usually set it lower so to see the desk a little better or bigger. At this resolution i have to set the text to 150% just to read it. I have 20/20 vision. CAD - skin using is called the wall - is the only one fitting perfectly to my monitor settings that are at 1920 x 1200, the larger skins that are supposed to fit are going over to my second monitor so i know they are wrong.
Also some programs are so tiny even with the 150% text. Jaikoz is what i use to tag my music and it is so small of a text that I can barley read it without using cheaters - making me wondering wtf is going on. using a diamond radion x1050 card, guess that could be problem why i'm asking.
I received my copy of Windows 7 on Monday, which was nice I was expecting it to get lost an undelivered pile of letters somewhere.

I’ve got a Dell 19” SE198WFP monitor. It’s running at 1440x900 resolution with Vista using an ATI HD3850 graphics card. I’ve been getting together some Windows 7 drivers ready for the install but can’t find any for the monitor.

I played around with a RC of Windows 7, all be it on a different very basic PC, but using the same monitor and had no joy installing the Vista drivers.
I have Windows 7 premium installed on my Dell. Using instructions found elsewhere I loaded the Fujitsu drivers and have a worl 1024x768 display. The only problem is if I hibernate the PC, when it wakes up it thinks the display is spread over two monitor the digital flat panel on Intel 8230M graphics controller and a default monitor. Sometimes I can change the screen resolution to not use the second monitor but most time I have just restart. I never have this problem after a start/restart. How to fix?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new computer and a new monitor. The problem is that the only monitor that is displaying is the default Generic PnP Monitor. The monitor came with a drivers CD, but I don't know where to install the drivers. In the readme file it says to find the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and install manually, but the only monitor that's displaying is the Generic PnP Monitor. I have absolutely no clue what to do at this point. Also, the monitor is supposedly 1600 x 900, but the resolution that looks the best on my desktop is 1600 x 1200 (4:3, even though my monitor is widescreen. All other resolutions look blurry). While playing games it is 1680 x 1050 that looks the best. I have updated my graphics drivers and everything (Nvidia Geforce GT 545).

I have a Dell Monitor model # 1908fwpt and we have used it as an external for a few laptops now, and on the last two hook-ups it has constant, non-flickering white horizontal lines across the screen. The only resolution that doesn't is 1280x1024 for some reason. I have changed the cables, used both VGA and DVI, and run the self-diagnostics and updated all drivers. I have chased this issue up and down and not been able to come up with a way to fix it. The monitor is not old, it hasn't been used very much, and I really don't want to replace it...
Since its done it on a few different computers I tend to think its not a driver issue, or a cable issue... And the one resolution it works on is all stretched out and flat.
getting the driver for the Dell LCD Monitor 2007WFB - OS installed is Windows 7 64Bit. Infact I have tried many times to download the drivers from the net, there are no Win7 drivers listed in Dell site for this product. I tried to use Vista drivers, unfortunately no use. Still I could see in the display properties & in Device Manager - "Generic Non-PNP Monitor"

This is not a typical BSOD crash. My Dell Inspiron's monitor intermittently doesn't wake up once power management shuts it off. The problem is monitor doesn't fully shut off. One way to know the monitor won't wake up is when the CPU is griding away, fan is on full blast, laptop heated up, monitor still has a faint white brightness but no disk activity. I have tried connecting the laptop HDMI and VGA output different monitors and TVs but the monitor/ TV doesn't recognize any input signal during this phase. Yesterday, CPU suddenly started griding away without a pause while I was working and the base plastic was so hot I couldn't place it on my lap anymore. System Idle was 95-99%; I wanted to check whether laptop will not wakeup after power management kicks and this morning I couldn't wake up the laptop and had to cold boot it
I cannot put my laptop to sleep or hibernate when this occurs, the computer will just keep griding away with fan at full blast but will never hibernate or sleep.
I've run chkdsk, defrag etc but no issues were reported. I have checked for viruses etc, nothing obvious.
When monitor started crashing in XP Professional (up to that point --great operating system) couldn't find any upgrade for Radeon Display Adapter driver so decided to upgrade to Windows 7-surely updated driver included. Windows 7 installed fine but did not fix monitor problem--had to repeatedly restart computer to get to dos repair.
After hours of online research finally discovered the following link for ATI Radeon video card driver. It is a Vista driver but works in Windows 7. Be sure to download driver that works with your system configuration.

I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop (far beyond the requirements). Before the installation, I was running Windows XP. I am currently attempting to play Warcraft III but the screen flickers every 15 seconds. The game has been reinstalled successfully, including appropriate updates, screen resolution, and refresh rate.
Nothing fixes the flickering and it is a little annoying. Can anyone help me out or suggest some possible solutions?

3 days ago, I started getting these 'flickering' pop ups at the top left hand corner of my screen. Some are whole ads and others are just bits and pieces like a 'puzzle'. They are non-stop and especially when I am on my AOL 'Welcome/home page'. I can hardly read what is displayed on my left screen.

Whenever I try to game longer than 10 minutes on this rig I just built, my PSU starts flickering like a strobe light and then my computer freezes. Sometimes it will display a random color though out the whole screen, or just go black. I have checked all my temperatures when this occurs and they are all well below average. I have ALL the latest drivers/windows updates. In this case like many others, my screen goes black for a few seconds but then recovers, only to have terrible FPS (I usually get 80+).

I have win7 ultimate and it will flicker occasionally when removing and inserting USB devices especially flash/thumb drives.I reinstalled latest driver for video card nvidia 260.99.Also i originally used driver from Nvidias site and then reinstalled with international driver from XFX site.Both are WHQL certified.This happens when OCd and stock.

There is no discernable differnce in the performance of windows and it boots and runs fine, it's just that the light is a bright neon blue colour and is very distracting!It happens from the moment my desktop appears or when being online like I am now typing this. View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I open, it's seemingly random, programs sometimes the usb flicker on and off. For example, the mouse works 1-2 seconds then stops 1-2 seconds and continues like that. Same with the keyboard, it works a few seconds, stops and repeats.When I shut down the program it works again, 'the program' because it's been abit of everything. Sometimes it happens again, so I have to restart again etc.With the new keyboard with back lighting and mouse with dpi indicator I see that the keyboard and mouse flicker with its light on and off, one after another. The usb unplugged sound or whatever it is has also occured with these new peripherals aswell.I've tried disabling power saving option in the Root Hubs in device management, but it doesn't help.

I have just installed Civilization 4 and when it loads the screen flickers blue while the movies are playing and then when its on the main menu it flickers but not a blue screen just its all weird.
I can remember last week Windows Update updated my SIS mirage 3 graphics driver and i have had windows 7 installed for about 2 weeks now.
