Dell Inspiron 1526 Touchpad Drivers And Problems

I am aware that there is another thread relating to scrolling issues that includes some of the problem that I am having but it does not solve all my questions.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 1526. However my touchpad does not have it's same functionality. The scroll does not work and I cannot disable it. In Vista 32 my touchpad used to disable automatically when I plugged in a mouse. I found an ALPS driver (from the previous thread) that enables me to scroll without bugs but it does not let me modify my touchpad in anyway. I also found a Synaptics driver that lets me disable my touchpad manually, but it will not scroll.

My touchpad is not actually recognized as a touchpad but as a "Standard Pointing Device". I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a driver that would grant me the same functionality that I had in Vista 32 or at least let my touchpad actually be recognized on my computer. It is rather annoying constantly having to switch drivers.

I have just installed a brand new genuine Windows 7 Professional. (Yeepee).

now thanks to this wonderful forum i'll try the Radeon x1400 driver posted here. (Hopefully I have the x1400 and not the x1300)...

Now,

i'm missing the Synaptics Touchpad drivers so I can't scroll anything.

do you think the Vista 32 bit drivers on the Dell website should work?

Dell Vostro 1320 Touchpad Drivers Issue
I have just purchased a Dell computer (vostro 1320), with Windows 7. Everything was working just fine, when I started to get those blue screens errors. I seeked help from Dell, which told me to install WinDbg, to find out the problem.

After analyzing what caused the error, this program pointed the error was in a driver from Dell touchpad.

I contacted Dell, which said the problem was in the software, which was conflicting with windows, and then they told me to format the pc.

I am very reluctant in doing so, mainly because the pc is brand new, and every time I formatted my old pc, it never was the same, and the old problems always returned.

So, my question is: is there another solution for my problem? Maybe an alternative driver, which can substitute the one from Dell and does not conflict with windows!

Dell Inspiron 1440 Drivers
i want to install windows 7 as os in my laptop inspiron 1440 frm where i can download the drivers.

Answer:-

Check Dells site

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Answer 2:-

Prior to migrating to Windows 7 it would be best to download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will determine if your current computer configuration will be compatible with Windows 7, for further information as well as a link for download please go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Another resource to verify compatibility is available at the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center located at the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Also, please note that when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 you will not have an "in place upgrade" option. You will however have the option to select "custom" install when prompted. The Windows 7 install process will then copy all of your data in "My Documents" over to a Windows.old folder within Windows 7 itself. All applications and documents stored in other locations will have to be reinstalled / transferred manually.

For more information on the Windows 7 Upgrade, please go here:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

For additional assistance with the migration of Windows XP to Windows 7, please go here:

Guide To Drivers For Upgrading Dell Inspiron 1525 From Vista 32-bit To Win7 64-bit
guide to drivers for upgrading a Dell Inspiron 1525 from Vista 32-bit to Vista
64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit.

The Dell Inspiron 1525 is an extremely popular model of laptop and is a very good choice for a Dual-Core cpu at a relatively good price point. However, it has one very big drawback, it ships with only a 32 bit OS.

Simply put, a dual-core cpu is a 64-bit processor and the operating system that comes with the laptop is Microsoft Vista Home, which operates at 32-bits. Youâve paid for four lanes of highway, but youâre only using two! Upgrading to Windows XP 64 bit, Vista 64 bit, or even the Windows 7
beta (test version) 64 bit operating system is the only way to take advantage of the additional speed youâve paid for. And it is worth it.

Dell does not support, suggest, or recommend upgrading your OS to anything other than the factory installed OS. So if you upgrade, youâre on your own. If youâre unsure of how this may affect your warranty, I strongly suggest you contact Dell before doing any modification of your OS.

I also highly suggest you back up all of your data, either to an online storage spot or to cd/dvd discs where you can easily access it after the upgrade is complete. (NOTE: I recommend you make that a bi-weekly, if not a bi-daily, habit) Backup! Backup! Backup!

Next make sure you have all of the original CDâs and installation material that came with your laptop in case you want to restore the original settings later on. There are hundreds of online guides that will walk you through the upgrade process. Google it and you should be able to find one that works for you.

Dell does not offer a readily available list of drivers for 64-bit operating systems. The purpose of this here is simply to give a list of drivers that I downloaded that worked for me. After doing a fresh, clean install of Vista 64-bit, I got out the Driver Installation disk that came with my Inspiron 1525.

On that disk, there are several drivers that are already 64-bit compatible. Insert the disk and select Vista 64 bit under Operating System. Click on extract for each driver you want and under
the View pane it will tell you if it is 64-bit compatible. Some drivers under the Vista 32 bit section will also show if they are compatible with 64 bit.

Install each of the drivers that meet the criteria. Alternatively, you can go to the Dell Website and enter your Service Tag number (from the back of the laptop) and Dell will provide you a list of all drivers that shipped with your laptop. Click on each one and select the Compatibility
option to see if it is 64 bit or not. If it is, download and install.

As I said before, Dell does not have a readily available list of drivers that may be needed after a clean install of a 64 bit OS. Here I will offer the drivers that I hunted down that worked for my installation of both Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 beta 64 bit.

These drivers are not necessarily listed as being for the Inspiron 1525, but I have installed
them and they provide the same functionality on the 1525 as their 32-bit counterparts. To find them, simply go to Dellâs website, in the drop down box next to the search bar select âSupport and Helpâ and type the R number in the search bar. The driver should be the first one listed. Click and download. Once downloaded, double click to install. That simple.

Important:

Dell Support Center does not work with 64 bit OS.

Dell DataSafe Online works,
but not very well. For online backup, try MOXY.

Dell Media Direct 3.5 may be permanently deleted from your system if you upgrade and may not fully re-install even when performing a complete re-install via the reinstallation disk provided by Dell.

A few other things that Iâd like to mention. First, is that you may find it difficult for some of your applications or software to work with a 64 bit OS. Try Compatibility mode. This will work for probably 60% - 80% of all software. For the rest, itâs hit or miss.

Check the softwaresâ website for suggestions. Secondly, if your Inspiron 1525 has a built in webcam, try this: When installing, change the default installation directory from âC:ProgramFiles (x86)Dellâ to just âC:Program FilesDellâ.

This simple change was all that was needed to fix a very pesky problem which was preventing me from using the Webcam. And if you find any other software giving you a hard time, ie: ScreenSavers, this solution may well work for them too.

Third, you may need to re-install the Sigmatel STAC 92xx C-Major HD Audio driver after you install the webcam to get the built-in microphone to work correctly. During one install, I had to do this, during another I didnât. So I just offer it up as a suggestion if needed.

NOTE: You can obtain a free test version of Windows 7 beta from Microsoft, but they do warn that its license expires in August of 2009 and you will need to uninstall it after that point. Therefore, I only recommend using Windows 7 for those who are technically inclined.

Stick with Vista if you donât want to, or donât like to, install a clean copy of the OS every few months. I will strongly urge you to purchase a copy of Windows 7 once it becomes commercially available as I have almost nothing but good things to say about the beta (test) version. Iâm pretty sure the bag of chips will be included in the price.

Dell Laptop Touchpad
I think this is driver related. My Dell laptop touch pad is working fine for moving the pointer and clicking but the scrollbar for web pages etc. that runs vertically down the left of the pad does not function at all. I have had a look around the Device Manager but I cant find the pads entry to update it. Perhaps this is just something that is incompatible with Windows 7...

Does anyone else have this problem?

Dell Touchpad - Synaptics
I just installed Windows 7 Build 7600 and I am trying to get the touchpad scrolling to work on my Dell Inspiron 1420. I installed the synaptics drivers from their website (v10.1.8 x64) but when I go to mouse properties and click the synaptics tab it only allows me to configure the right and left click buttons. How can I configure the scrolling of my touchpad? I NEED it!

Also are there any iTunes guru's out there? I have my library all setup on my vista partition. Is there anyway I can get my library/playlists on the Windows 7 side. I don't want 2 copies of my music, I want it to all link to the files on the vista partition but I have a feeling I will have trouble either getting the playlists in or trying to gain access to those files on that partition.

Dell Touchpad Driver Cannot Start
I have had this problem since installing windows 7 beta, and have not been able to find a fix, so here i go...

I have a Dell XPS m1330 and exactly 50% of the time my dell synaptics touchpad mouse driver does not work. What I mean by that is every other time i boot my computer device manager says "code 10: device cannot start". I have tried installing the lastest Dell Vista drivers for the touchpad, and I have even gone straight to synaptics website and downloaded their latest drivers as well. Neither fixed the problem.

Touchpad Dell Vostro 1700
I'm having a small inconvenience issue with my touchpad on my laptop (model and manufacturer in subject line). I cannot scroll down any screen by running my finger down the right side of the touchpad. I was wondering if there was a fix for this because the drivers from Dell will not run in Windows 7. I also would like to be able to change the functionality of my touchpad buttons (i.e. clicking both buttons to open up a new tab in internet explorer, like I can do with my Vista install on this laptop.).

32 Bit Win7 Dell Touchpad Drive Needed
I am looking for an alternate touchpad drive to install in my Dell Inspiron 1720 that is compatible for 32 bit Win 7. My warranty went up and Dell will not give me the compatible programs unless I pay.

I'm assuming there is a generic drive out there, somewhere, that does the trick. All I need is to increase the sensitivity, speed, and disable tap-click.

Dell XPS M1330 - Touchpad Driver Glitch
I have Dell XPS M1330 product red, everything installs fine, but oddly enough, on every first start up, it seems like the touchpad driver is not being loaded.

I have to reboot for touchpad to work.  Not only is it every first startup, but if I did a reboot, touchpad would not be recognized again and I am forced to do another reboot at logon to get touchpad working again.

To make clear, touchpad works on every other even reboot, and doesn't on every other odd reboots.

I should mention that I am running latest x64 RC version downloaded directly from MS.

Dell Inspiron 700m
Ok, so I'll admit that I didn't take very long trying, but my attempt at getting the W7 Beta working on my Dell Inspiron 700m  was less than 100% successful.  It looked FANTASTIC, and ran SUPER FAST (I loved the super quick boot up) but, unfortunately, I couldn't get the display to recognize as anything other than the default vga, and it couldn't even *detect* my network/wifi adapters to try to install drivers for them.  Ahh well, back to XP for me then.  Sad that my 4 year old laptop couldn't be supported, I think it would've been a great beta platform :)
