I have a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop, with Mat****a UJ-840D DVD. The device is only working in PIO mode 4. When I change it to DMA mode in Device Manager, the checkbox Enable DMA is unchecked automatically.
Any one can't help me ? I'm running windows 7 RC with latest update

I know it's an old AIO printer but sometimes the scanner comes in handy, but problem is I only get hold of XP driver for it. I tried installed the Virtual XP mode beta and I try to setup my printer, but my driver setup won't go through, it said it can't detect my printer.
So just want to ask is it actually possible to install XP-only device in Virtual XP mode so I can use the device in Windows 7 environment ? I didn't use much of Virtual PC so I am not quite sure.

In the Sound options window, you would see your several devices under Playback and Recording Devices. The thing is I have audio devices that have a number next to them, eg. "2- Creative Sound Blaster". Windows always does this, but I would like change these device names, and I don't know how.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 internal hard drives in my notebook. Disk1 is my library (documents, etc.) with no boot files. The boot is in Disk2 with my operating systems. Sometimes when I leave my computer open for video editing, etc., when I open it, I see that it has restarted, and waiting with flashing _ on the black screen. When I check the BIOS, I see that the hard disk device order has changed from Disk2 to Disk1. How could this happen and why? Is there any way for me to learn why the computer has restarted itself?

I could never get it to work on my PC -- simply would not install the mobile device drivers no matter what I tried. I was able to update both phones on another Windows 7 PC we have.Now, when the original PC detects my iPhone and pops up autoplay it has the device name for my wife's phone. The phone itself shows that it is configured with the correct name.Where does Windows 7 pull the device name from? It has the wrong name in the device properties General tab but even though I can select the field and select the text in it I cannot change it.
View 7 Replies View Relatedthere is a better way to change my audio playback device in Windows 7 (Ultimate, Service Pack 1, 64 bit). As background, I keep my headset plugged in at all times and swap to it when needed, but like to use my speakers most of the time.
The only way I've found to swap between headphones and speakers is to right click the volume button on my taskbar, open "Playback devices", select my headset (listed as "Speakers, Realtek High Definition Audio"), then click "Set Default".
Aside from feeling rather tedious, the swap is not recognized in nearly all programs if they're already active. In other words, if I boot up a program with my speakers set to default, swapping to headphones via the above process will not change the audio output device for that program until I quit it completely, set the new default, the restart the program.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to turn off the hard drive caching I go to control panel, then hardware and sound, followed by device manager In device manager I double click on disk drives, right click on the hard drive which is C drive, select properties, then click on the policy tab I unchecked the "enable write caching on the device" When I click OK then I get the hour glass If I click on anything else then properties box goes to NOT RESPONDING I can not close it, even with task manager, it does not close I restarted the computer and nothing came up I had to put the windows 7 disk in and reboot, try to repair it but it did not work using the disk I was able to restore from a restore point and get the system running. but still have the same problem trying to turn off caching?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my NVIDIA card with audio drivers and now it can make the audio go through my television using HDMI (watching videos). The problem however, is that when I go into the Sound settings and change the default to the NVIDIA "device", I need to reboot windows to activate the change. I have tried going into the mixer and the sound setting and I can't figure out a way to change the active audio device without having to reboot (or even just log out and log back in).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS laptop, yesterday i left it alone for a few hours and I came back to a message saying "reselect boot device" I was able to get past that, I am not sure how but I did. Now today if I try to run my laptop in regular start up it freezes about 5 minutes later and then goes to blue screen. I can run my laptop in safe mode and safe mode with networking fine. I do not have any restore points (wasn't aware that windows 7 didn't automatically create restore points) so I can't restore back to a previous version. I can get a boot log and a cbs log. I don't know if its a hardware problem (I dropped my laptop two days ago about a foot and a half and it landed flat, no dents or anything. It worked fine after that) or if its a virus problem. I recently downloaded a new album (same day I dropped my laptop) but it worked fine after that as well.

Most of the time, my computer audio output is set to my on-board motherboard audio connected to simple speakers, but I frequently switch the default device to digital output through my sound card (HTO Striker 7.1). View 9 Replies View Relatedfrom the digital audio device? every time i plug in my $20 speakers i got from target, the audio device changes from my soundmax driver (which comes thru the lappy speakers) to a digital audio device in my little speaker icon thingy and i don't know how to manually change it back except thru reinstalling the drivers and rebooting a bunch of times,when i go to properties it only shows the enabled device and i can't find the other output option. if i reinstall the soundmax drivers it switches back to laptop speakers but this is obviously a hassle.

When I'm inserting the HDMI cable to view my screen on the TV it automatically shows the video, but I have to manually change the default playback from "Speakers" (Realtek High Definition Audio) to "Realtek Digital Output" (Realtek High Definition Audio) so I could hear the audio from my TV and not from the computer.
Is there a way to make that switch automatically when I connect/disconnect the HDMI cable?
I am using an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard and Windows 7 Professional. I am having a problem with my external (esata) disk drive being recognized by the OS. It used to work and now it don't?? During boot up I see the drive in the bios messages on my screen. Also when I look in device manager it shows the drive and says this device is working properly. However, when I click on "computer" its not there and no software program such as backup finds the drive either. I have tried uninstalling the drive in device manager and then rebooting. No luck? I am not sure when it quit working or why. Its not the drive as I have tried more than one and they are recognized when used in the USB port. I have uninstalled the Marvell 61xx RAID controller in the device manager also but no change?

If I remember right, this is just putting the driver in /sys/drivers, running a script, and making a registry change. Then you reboot, change the motherboard setting, and then install IMSM after the OS comes back up. I don't remember the script, or if it was just a reg edit, etc.
my computer, a Lenovo Idea pad P580 running on Windows 7, is 5 weeks old and yesterday I was using Microsoft Word to edit a document and Word suddenly crashed. So I closed it, but then the cursor started spinning and I could not access anything on my computer so I rebooted and it started up but then just trying to open Microsoft Word caused the cursor to keep spinning again and I could not access anything. So I again rebooted and this time it was spinning from the beginning. So I again rebooted and turned it on in safe mode and everything was fine. Then turned it off and left it off overnight. In the morning I tried to boot in normal mode and it did boot but it was again spinning and I could not access anything. So I again rebooted in safe mode and I can use my computer fine.And also, this is unrelated, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to do to make the scroll bar stop moving on its own? Every time I scroll down a page it seems to lock the scroll bar and so when I move the cursor away from the scroll bar, the scroll bar still moves and I cannot click any links or anything on that webpage.

I am currently in Safe Mode with Networking without issue.The owner of the computer says that something happened earlier today while he was online that sounds like some false antivirus popup, but he's unsure. Here are the symptoms in normal mode. Every application, from moving through them to opening and closing them, runs exceptionally slow - one to three minutes to open, at least a minute to open internet pages. I noticed that, when in IE, as the pages are loading the IE page disappears and reappears. I am not very familiar with Windows 7 so I don't know if it is related. The computer seems to be getting slower as the day goes on. CPU usage is very high.So far, I have disabled many startup items that were unnecessary. I ran CCleaner and cleaned up. MBAM was run in both normal and safe mode, full scans, and found nothing. This is also posted in Viruses and Malware, but I'm unsure where it should live.
