Ctrl-Alt-Delete Not Working At Logon?
Sep 16, 2011
I have seen this question asked, but none of them fit my problem. I am working with a laptop on the domain. Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit, new Lenovo laptop. When the computer starts up I get the log in screen, but ctrl-alt-delete will not work. I bring up the onscreen keyboard and I can push Ctrl-alt-delete and then log in as usual. Once I am in, I can run ctrl-alt-delete and it works fine. It is only at logon. I changed the ctrl-alt-delte settings and still nothing! I have spent way too long on this issue!

When one of my Exec's laptops boots to Windows 7, he presses CTRL ALT DEL and the screen does not return the login box until 15-20 seconds later. Then he can login fine.He is part of a special OU so he does not get the Windows Updates that the rest of our users receive.I took an image of his machine and dumped it to his idenitcal backup machine and the same behavior occurs. If you boot to safe mode w/networking, it DOES NOT behave that way and brings the logon box immediately. He uses the machine on our domain and when he takes it home on his personal network. He also has 1 mapped drive which resides on his home network, but I'm not sure if he experiences the same thing when he's docked @ home.If I login and then log out, the behavior doesn't happen. It only happens when I restart or boot from shutdown. This behavior also happens whether or not he's wired into the network or not.
I was going to try System Restore but since there are no restore points since this was a cloned image. I guess the restore points are on the small partition on his system?Troubleshooting So far.. * I have run C Cleaner and rebooted, no change* Disabled all startup items (msconfig), no change.* ipconfig /flushdns, reboot, no change* updated Intel network drivers, reboot, no change* tried the Windows 7 repair, but it failed* changing the desktop background from the picture to a solid color and back, no change.* checked gpedit.msc setting "Always wait for network at computer startup and logon and it's not enabled.* changed MTU size of network* reinstalled NIC and WLAN cardDell Latitude 6320 4G RAMSamsung SSD 250GB Win 7 Enterprise

I would like to change the wording on the Windows 7 logon page from "PressCTRL+ALT+DELETE to unlock this computer" to "Press CTRL+ALT+INSERT to unlock this computer". My company uses a lot of VMware View desktops and it's tedious to continually inform users of the keystrokes. I have searched through the forums here and cannot find the file that I need to configure. I have downloaded Resource Hacker and love it but I just need the file name.

I have a desktop, windows 7 ultimate. I now have a problem where when I enter my desktop it starts off completely black HOWEVER the mouse pointer is still there and can still move. After a few minutes the desktop taskbar pops up but it doesn't respond and stays like this. It's at this point where i decde to manually shut down my computer.I can ctrl+alt+delete but the task manager does not appear. I can enter safe mode.it might be a virus. It might be a driver problem but I didn't do any updates and I didn't do anything different.

I currently do not have my computer specs with me so I will try and explain the situation in full.
I heard about windows 7 a few weeks ago from a friend of mine who has it so... I decided to try it.
I have a portable hard drive 400gb which I stored the .ISO of windows 7 onto for the download of the system. At first it seemed as if the download went fine.... that is, until I restarted the computer, afterwards I got the "BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart"
MY situation is that I have no DVD of Windows 7 or Vista (It is currently with my older sister at her college), but just a copy of the Windows 7 disk on my Hard drive (Files are located at the root of the hard drive) SO what is there to do to fix this computer with just these files?

I built myself a computer like today and it was working fine 3 hours ago and I shut off the computer. 3 Hours later, I turn it back on, it goes into the screen that says: "BOOTMGR is missing. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to restart". So I searched up some things and it says to put my Windows 7 installation disc in and repair it. But when I go into the repair mode, it gives me the error "the version of system recovery options is not compatible with the versn of windows you are trying to repair".

I turned my computer on today. When I checked it some time later, I had an error of messages saying lots of files (mostly .dll) could not be found (or something along those lines). Explorer.exe kept crashing, before a constant bombardment of similar messages came up. After a while, clicking ok to all of them, the computer froze. When I tried restarting, I got the message "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart"

1) I have windows 7 and every time I press ctrl+alt+del a blue window pops up that takes up my whole screen and displays various options such as "change user" "change password" "Task Manager" etc. I just want it to immediately go to task manager every time without having to reconfirm with me!
2) How do I prevent a program from accessing a certain folder when that program is executed? For example if I play Civilization 5 and I want to play without my mods folder...how do I prevent the game from reading that specific folder?

I have a desktop machine that is connected to my work domain. Most days it works fine, but after the machine has been sitting idle for a couple days and I can't login. I hit Ctrl Alt Delete, then enter my username and password, but then it takes me back to the Ctrl Alt Delete page without any error messages.I can still access the C drive over the network but I just can't log on. I also tried using Remote Desktop from another machine but had no success.I think it's hardware related, because I have two identical machines and they are both behaving like this. However, all of the drivers have been updated, including the BIOS, and I've got all the latest Windows updates on there too.

I recently bought a new wireless keyboard to replace my Dell AT102w (I know I know, replacing a mechanical beast with a tiny chiclet, but it's necessary due to recent space issues). For some reason the CTRL doesn't seem to work at all, there are two CTRL's as you'd expect and neither of them seem to register within windows I can't see both of them not working, seems like to much of a coincidence. Here is the keyboard layout:
I've tried reinstalling drivers by removing the little dongle and putting it in a different USB but it doesn't help. What is strange is the keyboard has an FN key but no keys to use in conjunction with it.

Just bought a new Lenovo G770 5 days ago. Running Win7 64bit. The system repeatedly thinks the CTRL key is being pressed when it isn't. In the middle of typing a sentence, suddenly every letter I type performs the associated ctrl key action. The only remedy is a complete reboot (and loss of data in the process). I have googled this problem and it seems pretty common, but all I've found are a lot of suggestions (some of them too technical) and no clear solutions. Some of the non-useful suggestions I've gotten already: "Wedge the CTRL key up" ~ it is not physically stuck; I have not even touched the key when this happens. If the key were simply physically stuck, a reboot would not solve the problem. "Clean your keyboard" ~ the keyboard is not dirty; it's 5 days old.

We have the GPO setup at our company which deletes a copy of local profile after 1 day. All our PC are XP Windows 7 What we are finding is for some reason on log off or on startup it is trying to delete a profile but cant and event viewer show errors either with event code 1533 or 1530 Description:Windows cannot delete the profile directory C:Users<username>. This error may be caused by files in this directory being used by another program. DETAIL - The directory is not empty. When it cant delete the profile it the goes to put a local copy of the profile in the users folder as username.001, .002 etc All that is left is a couple of empty folders. (each time the folders are different) the are no security on this folder and they can be delete manually. Now i did google this and i know this is quite a know issue with the profiles not always being delete. I know about the tools used like uphclean etc which help with this problem alot of people face but its there a permanant fix for this or is this just typical behaviour that we all must live with?

How to delete bonjour file and fix the network problems? Whenever I turn on my pc, I have to wait 1 minute then I have to pull out the Ethernet cable and then put it back in again for the internet to work, I think this is due to bonjour. Also, I think I got it from Photoshop cs3, and bonjour is not in the form of a program but a folder.

We have just been sent a free computer for our office. A Windows 7 HP 32bit.We can login locally i think to a local user KB_SUF/User (where KB_SUF is the name of the computer)however whenever the UAC comes up when installing anything, we cannot proceed because it keeps saying "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request" The thing is they sent us the computer without removing it from the domain Now I cant install the programs i need to work and it doesnt seem like theres a local admin on this computer. I tried removing this computer from the domain but it requires going through UAC.Is there any way to make this computer a Local only PC?The company that sent us the computer is in another country and they say they can send someone over in 6 months which is longer than i can wait.
