Connected To The Internet But Unable To Use The Browsers?
Jul 22, 2012I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with a wireless connection. Although my laptop tells me I have excellent signal strength and my computer is connected, my browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE) will not let me browse. Other programs I have, such as spotify and Itunes allow me to for a short period of time before it kicks me off.I have tried unplugging and resetting the modem, and when I flush my dns cache, the browsers work for a short period of time (max is 15 minutes) before they cannot work at all.

Aug 2, 2012I have internet access, but when I am in normal mode it says that the page took too long to load so it couldn't connect to it. I have tried nearly everything, but nothing so far. When I am in safe mode, I can view any page. So that's how I am able to post this

Aug 15, 2012So I've googled the tar out of this and tried everything obvious, not sure what I'm missing. Here's what I got.Dell XPS desktop (wired and wireless connections)boot the machine and all is fine. After sometime browsers stop working. Firefox, IE, Chrome.I can ping google by URL and IP no problemIt's the same with either connection.I can ping my router and other network devices but can't get in via browser.I've turned off windows firewall, ran uninstall tools for dells preinstalled security.I've reset the tcp/ip stack, flushed DNS, reinstalled drivers, shut off power options on the cards. 've tried static IPsI've remove/reinstalled browsers.I've seen others with this problem but no solution, I'm close to giving up and doing a reinstall but don't want this to happen again.

Dec 22, 2011I just formatted my windows 7 a month ago and re-installed it . Few weeks ago i changed my modem to Netgear N150 modem + router . After that Most of the websites don't load . Eg : Facebook , yahoo , ms support , etc . I was scanning for any malware or virus but i didn't find any . And i hardly installed software in my computer . Even this forums is not loaded fully . My connection is really bad its oly 512kbps connection but most of the websites load in >10secs but now a days in any browser they are not loading at all. Not loading in the sense they are loaded half or not at all . Otherwise the loading thing is going on and on . It never ends. I checked my connection speed with speeedtest.net and got 524kbps which is my speed . When i download things i get the correct downspeed which i used to get early . But now most of the website are not loaded . I have norton and malwarebytes installed scanned the computer like ten times now . I first taut that dey both wer blocking web traffic and so i shut them down and i didn't find any improvements

Anyway, I have scanned my computer, with 2 different Anti-Trojan applications, both found many infected items and removed it. Now everything seems to be cleaned. Thing is, while trying to load google or bing - both sites wont load - it just hangs. I tried from 3 various browsers. When I put both sites IP addresses in the host file - it works! How can I get rid of this hassle?

Now here's the problem, every program installed in machine can access the internet, Antivirus (Avast Free 6), Torrent, Windows Update, Firewall (PC Tools) and others too, BUT, the browsers. They just can't access the internet! I've checked the Firewall settings too, they're all OK. Also went through malware check (SUPERAntiSpyware) and it's all clean.

Jan 6, 2012I am having a strange problem with a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit system. I can not connect to the internet with IE9, FireFox or Chrome. Dropbox is not loading and unable run it. I have Mac Drive software installed and it can not start because it loos for the internet to verify license. I can not go to 192.168.1.1 (can not ping it either) which is my router. When starting IE I get a blank white window and after about 20 seconds it closes automatically, Firefox and Chrome both open but can not navigate to any web page. I can however ping from CMD prompt www.yahoo.com, www.aol.com and I launched a gadget with news headlines from MSNBC and it updates fine and displays current headlines. So, some apps can see the internet. I did the following: uninstalled IE, Firefox and Chrome and reinstalled, I ran the manul Winsock reset commands via command line. Disabled network connection and enabled. Ran microsofts Windows Internet Fix. Released all IP information and renewed. I can print to my wireless printer and I do see my local network. All other computers on the router are working (wireless and wired).

Jan 16, 2012I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Lately when I try connecting with any browser it says I can't like the internet is unplugged. But I can download and install Windows 7 updates. I was maybe thinking it was a virus so I installed Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. Malwarebytes wouldn't update but SAS would. It had AVG anti-virus 2011 and I uninstalled it with the Windows built in uninstaller. Then I tried using "avg remover 64 bit" and I got the message "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running" which is strange because I have the 64 bit version of Windows. I got suspicious and tried running TDSSKiller.exe, rkill.com and some other AV programs but got the same "the version...". I read in a couple of searches that it's probably a virus and since I can't run any AV stand alone program, I suspect it is. When I ran Malwarebytes and SAS, it showed no virus's which I don't believe. Also everything in the Network and Sharing Center is totally normal showing that all is working fine. So if I can't run any of my anti-trojan, etc. programs, I can't see what it might be. This does the same in Safe Mode.
Unable To Connect To Internet Via Web Browsers
Dec 1, 2011I am trying to get on websites via chrome, IE.. Etc however it just won't connect. I have checked all my settings like the proxy settings etc and it sill don't work. Program's like Steam and Dropbox are still able to connect to the Internet though. I have also tried a reboot of the router.

I would restart the computer and the browser would work fine for a little while, then stop.Following CNET's advise, I installed CCleaner and Malware Software and ran them.No problems detected.I found a similar forum here. It happened because i accidentally set wrong date in BIOS (i wasn't using it about 3 month and CMOS batter was dead therefore it asked me to enter the date). After using it couple hours i saw that error and googled it. I found that the date is wrong and fixed it but nothing changed. I still get that error almost on any web page i enter (on all browsers:Firefox, Opera, IE9). click Continue to this website (not recommended) on IE or add exception on Firefox. And also can it be a firewall or antivirus issue? I've Nod32 ESS x64 installed.

then I couln't open some shorcuts (windows cannot find the target. and my utorrent setting reset as well, like if I had never used it, BUT the guest account works perfectly.
I'm able to open firefox with open as administrator but all addons, bookmarks are gone, I can't open the document, picture, and music links on the start menu either

Dec 28, 2011I have had this computer for about three years and I am getting my internet service through Verizon. Three days ago I got a message that my brouser address could not be found because I am working offline. I went to tools click working offline, the red X appeard and try to get back on the internet. I have not been able to get connect since. I have contacted Verizon tech and went through all the steps with them, still no connecton. They told me it was a microsoft problem. I contected microsoft troubleshooting online service. I went through all the steps with them.I even paid $200.00 for IYOGI tech support. They say I might need a new modem.

However, my work laptop (windows 7 professional) will connect to my wireless network but will not 'access' the internet. May 26, 2012I've had a problem for the past few months trying to get my Internet to work. The wireless works fine with my phone, other computers, installed Ubuntu on my comp, etc. The only place it seems to not be working is in my windows. I'be checked out a few videos and can't seem to find the exact solution. I'm thinking it may be a virus, but the avast antivirus "quick check" didn't find anything of that sort. In the device manager under Network Adapters, there are two links that each have a yellow 'i' symbol. When I troubleshoot with windows it says there are no issues. When I go to 'Change adapter settings' there are no adapters available such as the LAN, etc.

But when i turn on my laptop the internet works for a couple min. or hours or so then after that there will be a yellow triangle with a exclamation mark in the middle. Not sure why that happens. Can't Browse Internet Even Though Connected
Oct 23, 2009I just installed windows 7 home premium 64 bit, but for some reason, icant browse the Internet even though I'm connected. Ie thinks I'm not connected and nothing happens on firefox. I've tried the troubleshooter, disconnected and reconnected to the wireless network, and restarted my computer. Nothing changes.
I don't know if this is relevant but I got Microsoft tech support to help me download the file since I was having difficulties, and he somehow managed to disable all 3rd party programs. I'm not sure if that's related to this situation, and I don't know how to enable the programs again...

Nov 13, 2011Recently purchased a new hp envy 14 beats edition, I am unable to get access to the internet. My network sharing center tells me i am connected to the internet, but right below it says "no internet access" and my wireless connection strength bar on the bottom right hand side has a exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle on it. I have another windows 7 computer, 2 smart phones and Xbox live running on this connection with no issues. I have tied the new HP at my parents house along with several friends and the same thing happens.It will connect occasionally but for no longer than 5-8 minutes getting worse if i try to stream or download. (Does this on my wireless as well)All software and hardware updates have been done every update possible including firmware for my modem (there wasn't one but i verified). I sent the computer back to hp for them to change the wireless card, but when i got it back to confirm the work had not been done. So in frustration i demanded a new computer and got one.
To my unpleasant surprise right out of the box the new laptop (same exact model and specs) had the EXACT same problem...Now i do still have the original laptop as well, because i refuse to return it until my problem is fixed.Both laptops connect and function flawlessly to the internet when i connect through an ethernet cable. I have also tried different browsers as well with still no luck (explorer and google chrome)

May 8, 2012I've been having trouble with my PC for quite a while now, and have been looking for a fix for a long time. When I'm using my computer every so often I will get random lag spikes, that last for around 2-5 seconds. When it happens everything slows down, and the sound sounds like a broken CD/DVD where it goes all choppy.Recently I was staying at a friends house, where my computer wasn't connected to the internet, and while I was there I didn't have the problem at all, so I think it's something to do with being connected to the internet.
