Jun 29, 2012I am running a modem and wireless router which is working fine. I have my home computer up and running (Windows 7)- no problems at all. However, my work laptop (windows 7 professional) will connect to my wireless network but will not 'access' the internet. I have set up a connection from scratch; changed the network settings; restarted (everything) plugged in wth Ethernet cord; run a router check... and honestly I am way out of my league in figuring this one out.I tried several of the solutions for forum threads around the problem of 'connected to internet but no internet access', but part of my confusion is that one computer works fine, but the other simply won't allow access. When I use a when I use an open network it won't allow me on at all. But when I set up my private network it will connect and show internet access for 10 SECONDS at a time and then No access... like a constant flicker...

Apr 23, 2011I have setup a test LAN with 4 computers, 3 running different versions of Ubuntu and one running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. Until three days ago I did not have a problem pinging between any of the computers. My project is build one of the Ubuntu boxes to be the gateway/router/firewall/VPN server for the LAN. On Thursday I suddenly could not ping the Win 7 box from any of the Ubuntu boxes. The Win 7 box can ping any of the Ubuntu boxes. But what is even worse, I no longer am able to connect via Putty from the Win 7 box to any of the Ubuntu boxes.
I have disconnected the LAN from internet access and turned off the firewall on each of the boxes. I have checked all network settings. I have searched the internet for an answer. All without success. The only clue I have to the cause of the problem is that on Wednesday night Windows 7 performed an automatic update. In my focus on building the gateway/router/firewall/VPN server I failed to do two critical things on the Win 7 box. Turn off automatic updates and create recovery points. How I can correct the ping and Putty problems short of reinstalling Win 7?
2 Computers Connected To Router But One Can't Get Online
Feb 14, 2012I have two PC's in the same room connected to the router and receiving good to excellent signal strength. One PC has no problem getting online while the other one can rarely get online. Or, if it does, it doesn't stay online. The problem computer is a Dell desktop using a wireless USB adapter. In the past, in different houses, it has never had a problem getting online. Windows 7 troubleshooting has not been successful.

Oct 3, 2011I've got a Sony Vaio labtop I bought 10 months ago in the US. I'm in Australia now but have no international warranty. Sony tells me to send the labtop to Sony repair so they can look at it. They trouble shooted over the phone but it didn't help. Asked me to reformat the hard drive which I really don't want to do. This is the problem:
The computer works fine and I can connect and browse the internet with my wireless connection. However, as soon as I connect another computer to the wireless network (or if I'm in a hotel using wireless it also happens because other computer are connected to the same network) I get the BSOD.
The problem is that I cannot say exactly when it happens. SOmetimes it happens within 1 minute of being connected and browsing. Yet sometimes it takes 20min or maybe 45min. I don't think I survived longer than 1h though with 2 computers on the same wireless network.
I didn't notice the problem at first because I only used the one computer. So, I think the problem has always been there but I didn't notice it until I connected a 2nd computer.
To get the blue screen I don't even have to actively browse. I could just scroll down on a page and it happens without warning.

May 24, 2012My new laptop running Windows 7 Professional and it is not easily recognizing other workgroup computers. When, and if, it does, it does not staying connected to other computers and a wireless printer on my workgroup.I have a desktop that is running Windows XP Home. It is sharing its printer and external hard drive to all computers in the workgroup. When I got on the router, I was able to get the Windows 7 machine to see XP box long enough to map a drive and load the printer. After rebooting, Windows 7 did not recognize the drive map or the printer. I pinged the XP box and got Destination Host unreachable. The only thing I can ping is the router. Also, when I went to load the wireless printer (with Windows 7 drivers) it did not see the printer even though the printer�s connection light is on. I have two Vista Business machines and one Windows 7 Home computers in my workgroup. These are not having any problems. From those other machines, they can ping each other but they cannot ping the new box.It is acting like a setting in Business has it isolated itself and is not allowing traffic. I have searched this problem and it seems to be common but I have not seen a post addressing the Business question. I have tried everything that the help files and forums stated (setting discovery, disabling IPv6, disabling firewall on both, uninstalling virus protection, etc.) with no result. Is there a setting in Business that would prevent it from being visible?

Three days ago I got a message that my brouser address could not be found because I am working offline. I went to tools click working offline, the red X appeard and try to get back on the internet. I contected microsoft troubleshooting online service. I went through all the steps with them.I even paid $200.00 for IYOGI tech support. They say I might need a new modem.

May 26, 2012I've had a problem for the past few months trying to get my Internet to work. The wireless works fine with my phone, other computers, installed Ubuntu on my comp, etc. The only place it seems to not be working is in my windows. I'be checked out a few videos and can't seem to find the exact solution. I'm thinking it may be a virus, but the avast antivirus "quick check" didn't find anything of that sort. In the device manager under Network Adapters, there are two links that each have a yellow 'i' symbol. When I troubleshoot with windows it says there are no issues. When I go to 'Change adapter settings' there are no adapters available such as the LAN, etc.

But when i turn on my laptop the internet works for a couple min. or hours or so then after that there will be a yellow triangle with a exclamation mark in the middle. Not sure why that happens. Can't Browse Internet Even Though Connected
Oct 23, 2009I just installed windows 7 home premium 64 bit, but for some reason, icant browse the Internet even though I'm connected. Ie thinks I'm not connected and nothing happens on firefox. I've tried the troubleshooter, disconnected and reconnected to the wireless network, and restarted my computer. Nothing changes.
I don't know if this is relevant but I got Microsoft tech support to help me download the file since I was having difficulties, and he somehow managed to disable all 3rd party programs. I'm not sure if that's related to this situation, and I don't know how to enable the programs again...

Nov 13, 2011Recently purchased a new hp envy 14 beats edition, I am unable to get access to the internet. My network sharing center tells me i am connected to the internet, but right below it says "no internet access" and my wireless connection strength bar on the bottom right hand side has a exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle on it. I have another windows 7 computer, 2 smart phones and Xbox live running on this connection with no issues. I have tied the new HP at my parents house along with several friends and the same thing happens.It will connect occasionally but for no longer than 5-8 minutes getting worse if i try to stream or download. (Does this on my wireless as well)All software and hardware updates have been done every update possible including firmware for my modem (there wasn't one but i verified). I sent the computer back to hp for them to change the wireless card, but when i got it back to confirm the work had not been done. So in frustration i demanded a new computer and got one.
To my unpleasant surprise right out of the box the new laptop (same exact model and specs) had the EXACT same problem...Now i do still have the original laptop as well, because i refuse to return it until my problem is fixed.Both laptops connect and function flawlessly to the internet when i connect through an ethernet cable. I have also tried different browsers as well with still no luck (explorer and google chrome)

May 8, 2012I've been having trouble with my PC for quite a while now, and have been looking for a fix for a long time. When I'm using my computer every so often I will get random lag spikes, that last for around 2-5 seconds. When it happens everything slows down, and the sound sounds like a broken CD/DVD where it goes all choppy.Recently I was staying at a friends house, where my computer wasn't connected to the internet, and while I was there I didn't have the problem at all, so I think it's something to do with being connected to the internet.

Oct 24, 2012I have a Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop. It always works great except for one problem I have had from the beginning. When I am at some place like Starbucks or the Library and want to use the internet, my computer will show me the list of "Wireless Network Connections" available and I can click on the library for example and it will connect just fine. It will show the word "Connected" under the "Library" connection. But it will also say "No Internet Access". This happens anytime I go to a free wifi hotspot. I have learned that there is an additional login required. So for the library I would have to pull up my browser, go to their website and find their login. The problem with this is that sometimes you don't know the URL to their website so you can't login. there is some setting on my computer I can change to make the login screen come up automatically or even bypass this option. When I use these wifi hotspots with my phone or Google Nexus I never have this problem.

Aug 25, 2012Well yesterday after playing online games and surfing the web, so then i decided to go to bed and my laptop took longer than before so i then clicked cancel and tried refreshing i then shut down my laptop and it seems fine. But now today i turned on my laptop and it seems fine until i login when i log in it shows a black screen with only my cursor in the middle but i can still move my mouse around (this never happened before) then it goes to the desktop screen and my icons and gadgets were starting really slow but they came up in the end but then i look at my wifi conection it says No internet accsess but i looked over to my internet modem the internet was on. So then i opened the other laptop and i can use the internet, so i tried restarting my laptop and it did the black screen thing again and still no internet accsess. So I then switch to Safe mode networking and i can connect to the internet just fine i then went and looked at the Device manager and clicked on System devices and theres a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on Consumer IR Devices.

Jan 1, 2012I connect to my home wifi and it says connected, but there is no internet connection.I noticed that network adapter shows "wireless network connection 2" with that "2" at the end of name. I guess there is a problem. If I rename it to just "wireless network connection" it says it already exists. But cannot see it, and use it! Can anyone tell me how to reset it or somehow switch to "wireless network connection" without "2"?
