Client Can't Login To My SSL Site When Using Windows 7?
May 31, 2011
i run an SSL site that has function perfectly for over 10 years. Now that clients are using Windows 7 SOME of them cannot log in because their LOCAL domain name is part of the USERNAME . LOCALDOMANUSERNAME . they cannot change it .they cannot use the User another account setting after using it 1 time.I have had them remove the autocomplete option under tools, content, ssl, username/password.i have had them clear the SSL state. It seems to only happen with Windows 7 pro when they have their own domain set up at their office.

There's nothing wrong with my computer that I know of, just noticing these black flashes for some time now and thought I would finally seek information on why this could be happening. It happens everytime I turn on my computer, two black screen flashes at the login screen and another black flash in the main menu screen right after logging in.
p.s.
2x flash at the login screen
1x flash at main menu screen

A while ago I've done a Windows 7 clean install following the instructions in: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 Under point 1) there is the link from which one can download the Windows 7 ISO file, put it on a DVD/USB medium, and perform a clean install. That way one can get rid of all the OEM's bloatware which sits on the HDD after having bought a new computer.

I know this has come up in other threads, but I've been unable to find a resolution. I'm trying to upload files to an ftp site hosted by the software company whose program I'm using, but I can't open their ftp site in Windows Explorer. I'm using IE9, and running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
To address the common responses right off the bat:
1-Under internet options advanced tab I have "enable ftp folder view (outside of internet explorer)" checked, as well as "use passive ftp"
2-I do not have a Windows Firewall turned on.
3-When I try to connect to the network location in order to create a shortcut, I get an error saying the ftp site is incorrect, even though I'm copying and pasting the address from the URL to the command menu.
4-Alt-F, View, open in Windows Explorer gives me an error message saying the site can't be opened in Windows Explorer.
I'm on a network, and we're all running the same systems, but for some reason my boss' and my co-worker's computers allow me to open the ftp site in Windows Explorer without error messages.

is there a downside to responding "yes" when signing into a website when asked "do you want this site to remember your password"? These are sites I go to often and it would be nice to not have to look up a password each time but if it isn't secure then looking it up is fine.

I have a very odd issue that I cannot seem to figure out how to solve....memory tells me I think have had this problem before with this website about 2 years ago, but I cannot remember for the life of me how I solved it.Basically, the issue is this: I am an avid rally fan and usually check World Rally Championship every day. However, a few days ago I noticed that I would get a "The Connection Was Reset"error in Firefox 4.0.1 when trying to connect to it. The first time, I just thought maybe the site was down. The second day, I thought it was odd so I opened up IE9 and tried it there....it will not load in IE9 either. Then I thought, this is really odd, and tried it on my netbook and then and subsequently the other netbook and 2 other desktops in our house. The three desktops are connected to the net through our router via DHCP. The netbooks are on the same router via wireless DHCP. I tried restarting and resetting the router in case that was the issue, no go - internet works flawlessly on all the other computers and my desktop EXCEPT for that ONE site on my desktop. On both netbooks and the other 2 desktops, World Rally Championship loaded perfectly, so it must be an issue with my PC. I tried clearing the caches and cookies for both browsers, and I restarted this machine twice to no avail.

He has Win 7 64 bit and I.E.9.He has a problem with one web site only, Guitar Center, that when he views any item on the site it will load the page then it goes to a black display (not black screen, just the I.E.9 display). Guitars, Musical Instruments, and Musical Equipment from Guitar Center..I've had him update Java, as the site heavily relies on Java but that didn't help. His I.E.9 add-ons list is exactly like mine so that isn't the problem. He has Microsoft Security Essentials with the default settings, same as me. He has the same ISP (Brighthouse cable/Roadrunner), etc.

As an initial note, this has absolutely nothing to do with illegal activity, despite the fact that it sounds suspect in nature. But, here we go:
I want to proxy internet traffic from my house through a router in another home, and preferably only the traffic from one laptop in my house. For example:
Laptop: Home A -> router in Home B -> www Other computers: Home A -> www
I believe that the simplest way to accomplish this would be having a dedicated computer in House B, which my laptop could remotely control. However, I'm trying to avoid having a computer constantly on in House B. Also, I have full access to both networks, routers, etc...

I'm using Avast (free) and Comodo Firewall, can somebody explain me how to block everything without manually entering URLs?

I have installed [4/5/2011] Win7 SP1 (via windows update) on an Acer Aspire 1410-8414 notebook, with Win7 home premium installed. Now no browser [IE, FF or Chrome] will load any website. The computer connects to the internet, and media players will open streaming net radio and tv stations without a problem, and program updating works too; so it is just a browser issue. The strange thing is that the embeded web browser within Winamp does function properly, so only stand-alone browsers won't load.

Using Windows 7.Within browser (Chrome), I can do a search, and then when I click one of the links, I am redirected to a different site... Siteadvisor jumps and asks if this is what I want to do. Multiple windows would open.
What I did:
- Uninstalled Chrome
- Ran full scan with McAfee... nothing.
- Run full scan with Malewarebytes... nothing.
- Run scan with DoctorWeb... found three items... had them neutralized
After doing this, IE worked fine... search / link / no issue Downloaded Firefox... tested... search / link / no issue Downloaded Chrome... test... search / link... problem resurfaced!Right now, I have removed Chrome again and running DoctorWeb again.

I have just set up a new system running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. For some reason I cannot access certain sites in any browser (IE, Firefox or Safari (Haven't tried Chrome yet)). Example sites that are blocked may be redirects such as those starting with Email Marketing Software & Email Marketing Services from AWeber. I can easily access the same addresses from my old XP Pro system.

My browser is Maxthon 2.5.18.1000 (runs off IE9's engine). My home page is my.yahoo (customized yahoo) and it is selected to open automatically when Maxthon is opened. For my.yahoo to open, I have to sign in with a username and a password. Until recently, my.yahoo would open automatically without my signing in. However, once I started fooling around with LastPass (a pw manager) and two other cookie eaters (CCleaner and Maxthon's Smart Cookie Cleaner), in order to get to my.yahoo, I now have to sign in. How do I get back to the state in which my.yahoo opens automatically without signing in?

A site I visit occasionally - Sport Lemon - From Bar - From Sport - Watch Live Sports Online - FromSport - recently changed names and since then the home page shows but all of the links return a "404 - Not Found" error. Tried with four browsers - Opera (2), IE9, Waterfox 16 - with caches cleared. Works fine at public library and ISP says it's ok for them. Firewall is Comodo and Java is disabled, tho it doesn't seem the site's using it. Win 7x64
