I'm installing some adobe software, which, for some reason, requires chrome to close.When I close chrome.exe, I get this error:This only happens to the main chrome.exe process, not the browser, extensions, etc.

This is starting to drive me nuts sometimes. I remote into my desktop at home from work sometimes and depending on applications, when I go for a reboot or shut the PC down, it hangs and I can't remote back in. A few days ago I waited 5 hours and had to go home to click "Force shutdown" on the prompt that Windows 7 had waiting for me.

View 7 Replies View Relatedfirefox browser (channeled thru sandboxie) is plagued with script dramas on just about all websites e.g. facebook, Internet and so on. the pages do not respond until much time passes to alert me to a script problem, eventually forcing me to close the browser.
e.g. "warning unresponsive script. a script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. you can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete."
is there a way to force Windows 7 to unload/close/kill (last resort) applications from the virtual memory even if the gui & any icon disappeared from the desk-task bar, when i closed them ?

From time to time at any old time of the day (randomly it seems in other words) I'll go in and try to arrange, rename, or get rid of files and I'll get "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer. Close file and try again". Except that the file ISN'T open anywhere.

I recently setup a Home Server to have Windows 7 automatically backup. The home server has a 1TB HD and I've set full permissions for everyone in my network but the problem is Windows 7 will go so far with backup and then all of a sudden it will stop and say it can't be completed.
Then if I click Details it just comes up and says Access denied. Whats up?
On a Laptop with 4G RAM and Dual T7250 CPU install time for Clean install of Rc x-64 build 7100 took just over 15 Mins when booted up from a USB stick .
OK I have to install applications and find one or two drivers etc (you always have to do that anyway) but the "Base" install really didn't take long at all.
Maybe a USB should be an "Optional" install medium.
Was a great trick to run the "BOOTSECT" command from the "Install" DVD to get the bootsector on to the USB disk.
Now I've got a nice fast portable method of installing from a USB stick.
Now to see if it works on a Netbook with no internal DVD drive.
-- It does -- but beware there's no Prompt on the boot so if you re-boot during the setup it will start again from scartch so remove the USB stick after the first boot and insert it again quickly before the setup continues. I.E insert the USB stick again at the boot splash screen.

When I click on "Switch to" it goes to the start window, so I do not know which program to activate and correct the problem what ever it is. I bought a version of W7 Home Premium. I was running XP before, put in windows 7, backed up my files on external USB, formatted my drive and proceeded with a fresh install. After installation and first startup, I see the windows 7 load screen, then all I see is a blank screen.
I've tried to run a repair but it can't fix it. I've tried running in Safe Mode but it won't because it says it hasn't completed installation yet. I've unplugged all USB devices except for my KB and mouse. Still just a blank screen. Can anyone help?
I have a number of pre-printed forms with many blank spaces to be filled in. Rather than completing them all by hand, I would like to scan them into some software, like MS Word, then fill them in on the computer and then print them. I have Windows 7 Ultimate and an Epson Photo R200 printer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Win 7 Home Premium SP1. For the past year and a half, I've been using the Win 7 backup about once a month without any problems. My hard drive is partitioned into drives C and D, and I back up onto an external hard disk, which appears as Drive I when connected. (The external hard disk is partitioned into drives G, H, I, but there is plenty of space on drive I).
In addition, more often, I back up my important data folders (using MS Synctoy) on a USB flash memory which appears as Drive F. Yesterday, I backed up to the flash memory. Then I did the Win 7 backup to my external hard disc, but I forgot to remove the flash memory from the USB port, which I always do. When the Win 7 backup finished, I got an error message from Windows Backup: "Windows Backup did not complete successfully. The backup completed but some files were skipped."
When I looked at "View Skipped Files", it said "Windows Backup skipped F:Music because it cannot be found on drive F:." (There is no "Music folder on drive F). So I took out the USB flash memory and tried Win 7 Backup again (twice). Same result. Then I shut down the PC for the night. This morning I turned it on again. Everything else seemed to be working. So I did Win 7 Backup with the same result.
I looked at "Restore all users' files" in the Backup Window, and there I see that I have only a folder called "Users" backed up from the C Drive, and only a folder called "Music" backed up from the D Drive. I have many other folders in these drives, and even these folders only show a small portion of the files in those folders on my PC. It also shows that there is an empty F:Music folder backed up. Just to remind you - there is no F Drive once I remove my USB flash memory.
Looking at "Manage Windows Backup Space" I see that on Drive I (the backup drive) I use 26.6 GB for Data File Backup, 95 GB for System Image, with 64 GB of free space on the drive. Since my C and D drives have a total of 74 GB used space, and I assume Win 7 Backup compresses files, these numbers look reasonable to me. Are my files backed up or not? Why the silly error message? My external hard disk seems fine, as best as I can tell.
Each time I uninstall a program, after it completes and I try to uninstall another, I get the following message: "Please Wait Until The Current Program is Finished Uninstalling or Being Changed". Why?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was trying to format my computer, I had installed the OS of Windows 7 Ultimate x32 bit, and decided to take the opportunity to install a new one, but this time of x64 bits, this was my first time formatting my computer but apparently didnt finish good.
1: When first restart the computer to finish installing the OS, it Said That "The intallation of windows could not be completed. To finish installing Windows, restart the installation"
2: I try to do what it say, but when I try to restart the installation with the OS disk in, I get to the same window (not sure if that's what meant by what I just explained).
3: When I turn on my computer says something like: "select the operating system you want to use", and I get the "Windows 7" option twice.
I just found out according to format the computer i had to delete the partition that was the old OS and create a new one, but I cant get to that window, because as explained in section 2 always get the same message from section 1.
3 month old HP Dv6 Laptop with Windows 7 Problem Windows 7 desktop icons freeze after startup has completed. I have gone through all 106 posts about Windows 7 freezing at startup but I have not as yet found one that fits my problem exactly. The following problem is intermittent at switch on, and when it happens the only way out of it is to power down then switch back on again, maybe once or maybe 3 or 4 times before it is O.K. In the past couple of weeks, after switching on Windows 7 it boots up as normal to the desktop, but the first icon you try to open whether it be a desktop Icon which will highlight or a toolbar button at the bottom or even the 'Start' button which will depress the computer will not open these items. The mouse pointer can still be moved about the screen so the computer has not actually frozen. I have checked the startup folder which is empty
View 6 Replies View Relatedi was working on w7 ultimate x64 (i had xp 32 before, but due a hardware upgrade i wanted to try an x64 os) when an automatic upgrade from windows poped up(i was pretty sure i disabled the option before, but.. whatever). The thing is the upgrade never completed ( 2 hours freezed on the final step) and i had to reboot(i know, my mistake).from here, i tryed to boot but i did not sucess. the first issue apeared when i turned on the pc, and the boot recovery windows poped up, to check if there waserrors on the HDD. but wont never ever complete (6 or 7 hours running)i started to search on the web for a solution and i found a bunch of similar cases (a failed update and a failed boot recovery) but no clear solutions.never the less, the moest of the cases pointed at the same spot: "the bootmgr file" and i started to try a few steps posted on forums.first of all, i put the w7 dvd instalation and accesed to the console prompt.i followed these steps to delete and reinstall the bootmgr, or at least, that was what the post told me [CODE]well, i am about of exploding or jumping from a roof... seriously, i have some unfinished works to deliver in the begining of the week and i will not succes if ineed to blow up my D: and reinstall.

Now I wonder if Firefox8 would have the same use age.This is Chrome 17.0.938.0 BETA.No slow down at all, but msg about low RAM popped up.The old C2D E6750 would buckled already, and 2600K no issue. World of difference for anyone who wants to upgrade. Best upgrade on PC u can do, fast CPU, second is SSD.Windows are running great, everything responses normal.

Previous threads have been closed, but not because any solution was found.It's possible there may be more than one cause for the same or similar error.I've had this problem now for the last 6 months at least. Every single time I use Chrome.. it's the same thing. My system freezes and I have to wait for the dialog to pop up with Chrome.exe and please insert a disk in blah blah blah.. When the dialog pops up right away I can just click try again and it goes away, but other times the dialog doesn't pop up for a minute or longer.Incredibly frustrating. It makes me want to chuck my computer out the window, even though it's an awesome computer.

She sat down to use her computer and tried to open IE (IE9). When she clicked on it, a window popped up that says "Internet explorer has stopped working". What's more troublesome is that NONE of the browsers on her PC worked (FF, Chrome, IE). They all give similar error messages and refuse to start.A friend of mine tried all of the following with no luck (the PC rebooted after each of these tasks):
Removed Chrome and FF. No change.

The kicker is that after all of this, I decided to install Opera and Safari and they work!! But the other three browsers still won't work!Also, if I boot into Safe Mode, all browsers work (IE, FF, Chrome). No changes were made to her computer prior to this happening. I really want to avoid re-installing Windows 7.
Installed Chrome 16.0912.63, and am happy with it except for one thing, would like to customize the toolbar so the forward/back arrows, refresh, home, etc. icons are on the right side of the screen. There seems to be very few toolbar options, or my searching is really really flawed

When I go to Verify Java Version at Java.com in Firefox and Chrome they return Version 7 Update 9 but the test never returns a result in IE9. I uninstalled and reinstalled Java, Java add-ons are enabled. Security settings look ok.Some sites return "An add-on for this website failed to run". Same sites in Firefox and Chrome work fine. Java games don't work in IE9 but same games play in Firefox and Chrome.
