I have an asian, non-unicode program on my computer and whenever I run it, all the asian characters display as little boxes I checked the internet and I got suggestions to change my system local to the language I was trying to display. After I did so, the program displayed the characters completely, but some of my other programs on my computer displays ONLY in that language (Since it reads the settings from system local)Is there a way I can display the language with an English system local?

I am about to purchase an asus laptop in Germany (with Windows 7 HP on). Now I know I can't change the system language (need windows ultimate for that) but I believe on Asus computers you can select English as the display language on the initial install (so each shop is telling me) and so i have read (which i don't really understand as why can you do this on ASus laptops only - surely windows is windows? ie you can or you can't!).
If this is true i was wondering just what will be changed into English (i.e. what exactly is the display language)? I gather the majority of menus etc will be in English, but what about if my laptop goes wrong and I have to start digging a bit deeper? Does anyone know if all the settings menus change so i'll be able toedit the registry if need be (just an example!).
Yesterday i purchased a compaq destop with windows 7 operating system installation but the problem is they did installation in Arabic language when i was turn on the system the total things are in Arabic language. I have a friend who is studying abroad from Japan and their laptop broke and they want to get a new one. However, they would really prefer it if the OS language was in Japanese (eg when you press the Windows key instead of 'Computer' it's 'コンピュータ'). I've tried fiddling around with mine, but changing the language seems to only change it for my clock, not the entire OS. I've heard with Enterprise one can freely change the languages in such a manner, but I would like confirmation before I recommend my friend a laptop and buying another OS if it's unnecessary and changeable through some other means.

I bought my Asus laptop not too long ago but have somehow caught spyware so I decided to just reboot it from factory settings but the language seems to have changed. The original setting was in English but it has now changed to Spanish and I can't get it to switch back. I'm not sure how this happened. Whether I accidentally clicked a button during the reboot sequence to have the language switched, I'm not too sure. All I know now is I'm stumped on how to change it back. I've tried rebooting it again but it doesn't seem to want to change back to english anymore and I am stuck on a language I can hardly understand. Since I don't have a CD or anything to boot from besides what is already on the HD

I have my password on my Windows 7 laptop set as a Russian word, and my default language is English. Usually, when I am prompted for my password, there is a button I can click to choose the keyboard language, so I can type it in. However, I restarted my computer and the button has vanished. This means that I cannot choose the Russian alphabet to type my password in, and my computer has become unusable. I do not have a password reset disk. Is there any way for me to fix this problem? If you need more information.
The problem is, when I've got one input language chosen and am working on a Word document, I am able to write using that language. As soon as I open other software (for example start searching the web), the input language changes automatically. This means I cannot write my document and then proceed using same language on the Internet, but I have to change the input language separately when I swap from Word to Internet browser. Is it possible to change the settings so that if I'd be using one input language in one software, after changing the software the input language would remain the same and not change? It is quite annoying, though it is probably helpful for those who are using different languages in different software and don't want to swap the language every time they move from one soft to another.Another annoying thing is that I cannot give the name to my file if there's a folder which has the same name. If I have folder 01 on my desktop and I have a file which I want to name as 01, as I press "Save" the file isn't being saved. Windows just opens the folder named 01 and shows it's content (in the same window where you need to enter the filename and have Save button). How can I change this setting so that Windows would let me save file 01 even though I've got folder with the same name.

I bought a laptop in Paraguay, with Windows 7 Pro pre-installed. I thought this would be handy and it was cheap as chips so bought it. Little did I know changing the language from Spanish to English would be such a chore. Is there a simple trick I'm missing?
I can get by but it would be so much easier to have it all in English. For instance, I just tried to put my camera's SD card in to the slot and it came up with an error message that I couldn't even read!
