Today when I turned on my pc, it asked me for a password. I thought it was odd because I had never set a password. I tried to use the password reset option but it asked me for a password recovery floppy. Only problem is I never made a password to begin with, let alone this recovery floppy. I am confused as to what to do next? How would I turn off the windows password, if I cannot access windows directly?

It happens everytime I turn on my computer, two black screen flashes at the login screen and another black flash in the main menu screen right after logging in.

I have an RDP Server on a windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and i would like to be able to use another system login screen to connect to this server. As in when i turn of display last local users, so that if i was to enter XXX into the username and XXX into the password and it will connect Although i wouldnt mind being able to set up roaming profiles between these systems either.

Recently however, the mouse would work at the login screen, but after I would login, it would stop working. Its drivers are up-to-date. It seems as though something changed recently that disables it after login, and if I reconnect it I sometimes get Error Code 43, and it says it is not recognized, then again, sometimes it will work flawlessly, until i put my computer to sleep.

After doing so, I cut/pasted my photos folder into my new user directory (or whatever, I'm not very techie..). I have thousands of photos, my BF is a photographer, and I can view most of them. However, in one particular folder 90% of them aren't viewable! Says I don't have permission... When I log back into parents windows, I can see the photos in my directory (as they are no longer located in theirs) but there are little gold padlocks on the ones I cannot see on my log-in. I've tried changing permissions, ownership, you name it.. I've looked for help on line and tried everything. The only thing that seems to work is if I right click on each individual photo and change things that way.

I have tried logging into the administrator password but it is not a blank password and nothing I have put in works. I have also tried switching user but there is no other user. I have tried restoring the computer but it states that I need to have administrator clearance to restore. I have the windows 7 disk but I am unsure how to activate it. My father has not made a password restore disk and when I tried to follow the instructions of saving the password on a usb or a disk, it did not work because I did not have the password disk.
I am currently trying to reinstall Windows 7, as that is what a lot of forums were telling me to do but it is taking forever. It is also causing two Windows 7 to appear at the start up...I am hearing people tell me to download recovery tools, but I have no idea how to do this as the only computer I have currently is my father's computer, which I cannot get onto the internet! I recently received a Dell laptop that runs Windows 7, and it already has an account with my name and a password that I was not given. I'm fairly certain that it is the administrator account, and I can't figure out the password or find anyway around it. Safe Mode automatically asks for the password to the account (which is why I'm fairly certain that it is the administrator account).

However, it needs the software to do any burning, but since its intallation, every time i 'log-on' a box appears "Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer". All of a sudden the other day it just started locking up all the time. It runs Ubuntu well that is installed on another hard drive. It also boots into safe mode fine. I ran antivirus and malware scans that turned up nothing. I then checked the hard drive for disk errors and it came back fine after multiple checks. I had went into msconfig and made it restart with a clean boot still the same thing. At this point I gave up and had backed up everything and reformatted the drive and reinstalled the same copy of Windows 7 and now have the same thing. It kept doing this every time I tried to login. I can get to my desktop through safe mode. I just reinstalled windows and everything worked so I installed my graphics card driver. View 6 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately this time things didn't go back to normal. I was informed that the video card had failed and windows had recovered. The computer shut down by itself afterwards, which is something I had not seen when this happens. I can not get the computer to come back now, in normal start up or in any of the safe modes. When I start the computer now I get this:
POST beep BIOS screen Loading Operating system Windows error recovery (with booting options) The four little dots that come together to form the window with starting windows underneath it. The screen then goes black I get my cursor arrow and it remains that way until I get pissed and shut it down.

After system boot the windows login screen appears, totally at random the user interface freezes and mouse cursor text cursor and freeze.No input of the user pass is possble, only a soft(warm)reset bij keeping the on/off button depressed for some time helps.After this the logon is mostly succesfull.Problem is not consistent , but appears at random, so is the number of resets required to get it done. Mostly once but sometimes twice or even three times.

I've recently unistalled my display drivers (because I was going to update them), and after the reboot, my USB devices (keyboard/mouse) will not work at the Windows logon screen. I've been reading this is a known issue.
Here is where my problem is, I can't do a system restore because I don't have it setup, and I really won't/can't format. (stupidly only have 1 partition with lots of valuable data on it)
I'm really just interested in manually installing the USB controller device that my display drivers somehow uninstalled. (I think it's related to the chipset).
I have access to the cmd prompt in a weird repair mode that I've been able to access, that does have keyboard and mouse support. So I'm just interested in getting Windows to recognize the keyboard/mouse at the Login screen so I can actually access windows.
EDIT: The USB mouse/keyboard will work for BIOS, but the second the windows loading screen loads, the sensor for my mouse and the light on my keyboard turn off, and is not recognized until I go back pre-windows load. If I can just get past the logon screen, windows would do it's "new hardware recognized" thing. But I am stuck at the logon screen.
EDIT2: I'm running a AMD 785G chipset. I uninstalled Catalyst 12.3 to upgrade to the latest. on an AMD HD6950.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe recently built some CAD workstation desktops and seemed to be running fine but as of two days ago one of them started freezing at seemingly random times. it froze while logged in (after working a few hours) a couple times but now consistently freezes just after the login screen (it lets me log in) when it says "welcome". The processing circle stops moving, mouse wont move etc. I have to manually restart.
It does run fine in safe mode so i ran a sweep for spyware with malwarebytes but im still having the same issue. it gave a blue screen at one point at the login screen, only time i got a blue error screen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently restored my computer after using Windows 8 for a while. I had backed up everything to a drive, then I went through with the desktop installation of Windows 8. After using it for about a week, I decided that it wasn't for me, and I reverted back to 7 from the backup I'd made. After it went through the entire process, I rebooted, and found that the boot time was MUCH longer than it was before I'd put Windows 8 on there. Mind you, I'm booting from an Intel SSD. Whereas before using Windows 8 I had a boot time of, at most, 30 seconds, now it's taking about a minute and a half to get to the login screen. Now here's the real problem: Once I login, if I try to do anything, approximately 5-10 seconds after I'm at the desktop, everything except for the mouse freezes. This means that whatever window I have open at the time becomes unresponsive. Windows Explorer won't even respond. If I try right-clicking, nothing happens. Ctrl-Alt-Del, nothing. Ctrl-Shift-Esc, nothing. All the while the cursor is still able to move around the screen.I have more or less ruled out hardware problems, as once Windows has started and everything becomes un-frozen,everything seems to work as normal. I think it had something to do with my re-image. If I had the resources, I would probably run Startup Repair by using the original install disk, but I'm at college right now and it wouldn't be easy to convince my parents to ship me our only Windows 7 install disks.
