Laptop Running Windows Won't Download Websites
Jul 23, 2012The laptop connects to a website and then won't complete the download. The hour glass stays visable for many minutes or until the system times out. Everything ran fine until about 2 weeks ago. Another laptop using the same router runs OK.I completely reformatted the hard drive and installed a fresh upload of Windows.The problem was unchanged.I turned off the popup blocker. No improvement.Sometimes after the website is reached a message appears that the site is unavailable.Could there be a problem with a storage area used to receive the website data no longer being available to receive all of the data required.

Same when I try to play the games on Lumosity - they seem longer to display. Scans with MSSE, SAS and MWB show nothing suspicious. Jun 4, 2011My ISP lmits my download to almost nothing, except for three hours in the early morning. I have a monitor in my notification area that tells how many MB I have left (this is from the ISP), and during the day with nothing running my MB slowly drops. I installed NetBalancer, to see where all the download was going, and all I can find downloading is Windows Update, and System Resources. At least for the most part that is.So my question is, Is there any way to limit Windows Update, and other Windows Systems to downloading only during those three hours? I have Windows Update setting set to only Install at 4:00am. But it still downloads during the day. So is there any thing I can do, a reg edit, or something?

Apr 26, 2011About a month after I started using it, the Say the Time clock program I bought stopped launching the management menu when I right click the date/time field in the task tray (notification area).
Therefore, I can't use or edit the program. Neither the touchpad nor the cordless mouse works.
Other than this problem, my computer works great. Every single item that's meant to be right clicked works for me.
Is there a way I can generate a log to show the software manufacturer (Provenio) that it's their problem and not mine? I am a novice user but I can follow instructions. However, I don't want to put my computer at risk if I make an entry error.
I've been using computers for 18 years and I've never had this problem until I bought this software and used it for about a month.
I just wanted a conclusive way of putting the ball back in the manufacturer's court.
System Time Not Kept Correctly After Having Manually Changed BIOS Time
Apr 23, 2012I spilt some water on my laptop a few days ago but fortunately it's completely dried out and working perfectly.... apart from this minor (but important) issue.
Problem: the system time does not stay correct. Even after manually updating the BIOS time and also even after manually syncing it with the various servers available under the time options.
Fix: set the internet time sync interval to every minute rather than its default setting? How do I do this?
P.S. This couldn't be a CMOS battery issue surely because even when the system is on and plugged in the system time still deviates from correct. (I assume the CMOS battery is only used when the system is powered off.) If I need it replaced, how does that sit with my Dell hardware warranty?
Dell I620 Desktop Freezes (locks) Up From Time To Time?
Jan 14, 2012So I bought a new desktop computer about 2 weeks ago and ever since I got it, it's been freezing (locking) up on me at random times. I currently use Windows 7 64-bit. I put in a new graphics card and new memory sticks just the other day and I got the same freezing problem. It's very random. I can be surfing the web and the next thing you know, the whole thing freezes up. I can't move the mouse. Can't do CTRL ALT DEL. Can't do anything. Seems as if the whole computer locks up. The only way to restart the computer is by manually holding in the power button for a few seconds. So since I replaced graphics card and installed new memory, I was thinking it may be something else causing this.

Had similar issue with previous computer and used Windows Transfer to move evrything off that to new Acer. Seems to be getting worse. Use Qwest DSL hard connection. Can VPN to work ccomputer and bring up the web sites that won't load locally. Have tries variuos scans and nothing is found. For instance can get into US Bank site and Vanguard, but not Tax Act or Fidelity.

Dec 21, 2011Basically, an assortment of websites have trouble loading. Some times they will take a couple refreshes to load, sometimes they will load in HTML after a long time, and some don't load at all. Sometimes a website will work fine, but then not load the next day. It's starting to really piss me off, especially since it affects such websites as:
- SoundCloud
- Twitch.tv
- Justin.tv
- The Escapist
- Facebook (occasionally)
- Many more!
As far as I can tell, this all started a few months ago. My internet spontaneously stopped working. I called my ISP (TelstraClear NZ), and the operator did some troubleshooting. Eventually the problem just seemed to fix itself after I unplugged and replugged my modem; I guess it reset my connection.I have a SURFBoard modem and a Netgear wireless router.The things I've done to try fix are:
- Changing my DNS servers - many times
- Using a different OS/computer
- Using a different browser
- Pinging the servers of stuck websites. Often I can't reach them with a ping
- Turning off/unplugging my modem and router
- Plugging my modem directly into the computer
I'm at my wit's end as to what the problem is. Everything i can see suggests that this is a DNS problem - the seemingly arbitrary times websites won't work, my inability to ping them, the random assortment of affected websites. The only other thing that would make sense to me is that it is my ISP causing the problem - but only for my connection.

Certain websites like google and hotmail will load. others like wikipedia will not. yahoo.com loads sometimes and not at others. I called my ISP and they say I have malware. Feb 21, 2012I have a client that has 9 work stations hardwired and 3 laptops wireless and 1 server hard wired and none of them can connect to 2 specific websites. The workstations are running Windows 7 Pro 64bit, laptops are Windows XP Pro and the server is Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 64bit. They were all able to open the 2 sites last Friday and now they cannot. I can ping and trace rout the IP address of the 2 sites and get no loss but if I ping/trace rout the site name it will not work. I know it�s not the sites that are having the problem because I can open it on my cell phone. But when I hook up my phone to their wireless I cannot open the site. If I put a static DNS IP of their ISP on the computers then I am able to connect to the 2 sites. I called there ISP and they said something must of changed in there network but I check all there settings and nothing has changed. I have never seen this before and am at a loss of what to do.
