View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since using Windows 7 I got annoyed that some folders and files seemed immune to my attempts to move them or delete them invoking that "some program" was using them. Since I usually run no less than 5 or 6 main programs and a score of smaller utilities I always assumed tat it was one of may many programs blocking the Moving of folders and files. Apparently not. Today I was trying to organize my music folder (400GB and as many folders as I have albums) and I kept getting the alert that a program was using the folder.

movies all held on Seagate FreeAgent external HD and in the form of video_ts
fresh install...but when i click on movie library in WMC, it slowly pulls up the thumbs for the movies but when i start to navigate thru, it locks up after only moving a couple movies to the right. i can still hear the clicking sound as if it was still navigating, but the movie thumbs just stand still. its not a black out or anything of that sort, but i can't do anything but click on the X to close it out.
however, when associate the drive folder with videos, i am able to navigate thru the movie thumbs (albeit smaller versions of the movie section), i have no problems and everything works fine. obviously i'd rather use the movie section to peruse my movies...
any thoughts? suggestions? any info i've left out that you guys need to help diagnose?
I have no idea where the thumbnail.db is in an external hard drive connected to a computer running windows 7. Is there is such a thing? does an external hard drive have its own thumbnails, or are they only located on the main disk in the computer?

Disk Management Window didn't show any new partition, so I went on and created two new partitions, but afterwards, I can see an extra partition in My Computer. When I try to delete them, an error appears stating that the folder contains names that are too long for the recycle bin. The next screen states that the source file name(s) are too long than is supported by the file system.
I would like to remove this folder and all its subfolders. I have tried everything from changing permissions to changing attributes and even trying DOS to remove the folders; no luck!
In my workings with Windows 7, I have come across a few folders that have been created by the system or and installation, they are all locked and are a number/letter combination type name. The first contains a copy of iesetup.exe dated 2/8/2009. The second contains an MPsigStub.exe dated 5/21/10, the third has an amd64 folder that shows up as empty, I didn't have show hidden files on. The fourth has another iesetup.exe same date, ie8.msu same date, a .dll same date and a eula.rtf dated 2/12/09. I do not believe that they are required but I have been wrong enough times to ask more learned and experienced people about it. May I safely delete them?
