Built In Webcam Is Not Appearing In 'Computer'
May 7, 2011
When I first bought my laptop installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, the built in webcam was appearing in 'computer' but when I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, it disappeared from 'computer'. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5552 and my older sister also has an Acer laptop with a built in webcam and also not appearing in 'computer' and I think she is still using the default installed operating system because hers is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit And I don't think she would choose to just format and install the same exact OS right out of the box...I called Acer tech support and they say they can fix the problem remotely but for a fee of almost 100$ which I dont have.
by the way it dont actually really matter if it works or not because I have my laptop connected to a 52" 120 hz full hd lcd hdtv via hdmi cord so the laptop is closed and upside down with the battery taken out ...on my fireplace mantel...all i use it for is to download 1080p bluray rips and watch 1080p bluray rips via 2tb external harddrive
And the driver for the built in webcam does show up in device manager without any problems there and it is also up to date

dv6 i7 HP with a webcam that used to work great inside the house. Now, the screen is just about all black except for the dim outline of a light using the HP TrueVision HD cam. Machine came with Cyberlink YouCam 3.5 and I updated it to 5.0 and still same thing. I really don't want to have to use the USB webcam which works fine inside the house. I went to device manager and found the HP TrueVision HD driver and updated it and it says that I have the latest driver. Maybe I should delete this and re-install? I went to an SSD which runs well but according to them it messes up the entire system and I am a bad customer. The problem existed before the SSD and I really do not wish to deal with HP tech any longer. BTW the cam shows up outside so something is screwy and I cant put my finger on it. I have adjusted all the settings up down and everywhere in between then back to default which always worked well.

My webcam doesn't really work when I use ooVoo or Skype... for example, I have just downloaded ooVoo and I was told to check my webcam availability and all that, so when I tested my webcam, it didn't work. I viewed the "devices and printers" section, and clicked on my webcam icon and looked at its properties and checked its device status and it said "This device is working properly". I thought the problem was ooVoo but then I used Skype and Facebook webcam and still my webcam didn't work. I'm using Windows 7.

I've installed a new SSD as a secondary drive and it has worked for two days. At the moment, I can't see any mention of it in Computer (Windows Explorer) but the BIOS detects it.There is a screenshot below of the disk manager, I believe Disk 2 should be the 120GB Intel X-25M G2 SSD:Also, ignore the 8GB drive listed there, it's just a harmless USB.How do I fix this? I don't have any data worth keeping on it so I'm quite happy to get a blowtorch and format the drive if needed.

I have looked over many, many other forums and threads regarding this issue, but to no avail, have not been able to solve my problem. I'm starting to think that some hardware that communicates with my Webcam could be damaged - but I have not given up hope that this could be solved alternatively. Here are some of my PC specs: OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 Other OS Description Not Available OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name BRADY-PC System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard System Model HP Pavilion dv3 Notebook PC System Type x64-based PC Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6400 @ 2.00GHz, 2000 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s) BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard F.14, 07/01/10 SMBIOS Version 2.4 Windows Directory C:Windows System Directory C:Windowssystem32 Boot Device DeviceHarddiskVolume1 Locale United States Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7601.17514"My laptop came preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Edition - I have since upgraded. The webcam was functional with both OS. Also, my BIOS is not updated with the most recent available software (F.15 is available). I had F.15 and downgraded to F.14 to see if that might solve my issue, but it did not. I have tried a variety of different things (clean boot, various installs of the driver, uninstalled all of the devices listed in Universal Serial Bus controllers and restarted), but again, to no avail.I can provide anymore additional information as needed. In the device manager, where it shows "Unknown Device" (which I believe to be the built-in webcam, as it appeared around the same time the webcam stopped working), which is under the Universal Serial Bus controllers, I copied all of the information in the Properties - Details tab. Here is what is displayed for all of the categories:
Code:
Legacy bus type: 0000000F
Bus number: 00000000
Enumerator: USB
Address: 00000005
[code]....

The built in webcam on my Acer laptop stopped working. When I tried to use it, a message popped up that said I needed to update it. So I let the computer update. After that my computer wasn't able to detect my webcam. So I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it from the internet but it still doesn't. It installed but when I try to open it, it says "Camera not found".

I've recently built my a Windows 7 desktop and i'm getting all kinds of blue screens.I have tried doing a clean install, i've done a system restore since then to when it was working best and i've still had BSOD.Originally it kept BSOD when i had two sticks of RAM in (at least once every 30 min) and worked fine when only one was in. I've since done a clean install and have both in.I've attached the dmp files from the two BSOD i've had since i have done the clean install. The only programs installed are Avast! 6.0.1000) and the software to run the wireless dongle (Netgear WG111v3) plus whatever came with Windows 7.I've ran dskchk and sfc /scannow with no errors reported. I've ran memtest86 and that returned no errors (though only ran once)The motherboard has MemtestOK! and that shows no errors.Motherboard: Asus M4A88T-V EVO USB3 (the latest drivers for the chipset, audio, graphics, lan and usb3 from the amd website have been installed)THe drivers for the wireless mouse and keyboard are install as is for the wireless dongle. The BIOS is the latest chipset as well.
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor 3.00GHz
4gb of RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I have a Dell Vostro 1500, running 32-bit Windows 7. It came with Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 a couple months ago, which I think is causing the issues I'm experiencing. According to whoever I'm speaking with, the sound for the microphone built in to my webcam fades in and out and gets really loud randomly. In an attempt to solve this, I bought an external microphone which also does not work. The sound driver is the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, version 6.10.0.5614. When I tried to update it through Windows 7's update driver software it says I have the best version for my system, but I still suspect that this could be what is causing the problem.
