View 16 RepliesI have/had a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
CPU: Intel i5 2500K clocked at 4.0ghz (stock voltage)
Cooler: Corsair H50 Cooler
Graphics: Zotac GTX 560 TI OC AMP edition
RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x 4GB Ram 1600MHZ DDR3 1600
Hard Drive: Intel 320 160GB Solid State 1.8"
Motherboard: Biostar TP67B+
Power Supply: Antec Power Supply 400W High Current
Sound card: HT Omega Claro Plus
After running the computer for about a year, with all updated drivers and such, BSODs starts to occur. At first, I assume it was a virus (had avast before); so I decided to fully reformat the hard drive with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate again. I remember reading the BSOD screen, and sometimes they had different error codes. Strangely, sometimes my hard drive would not be detected until I had to restart many times until a successful detection for the SSD would occur. So I reformatted, however; in the process of installing my first driver (Nvidia for GTX 560), I got a BSOD. Giving up hope, I decided to come here and report the problem. After that I just installed several drivers but not all.
I have just had my first blue screen after reformatting again.
View 7 Replies View Relatedive been having these BSOD problems for a couple weeks.. they seem to occur only when i start my computer in the morning and do it a lot for the first hour or so, then seem to quit for the rest of the day.. ive changed all drivers and completely reformatted and reinstalled windows too... no luck?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAt first, I had a failing processor, and I managed to replace it, then Ireformatted my system. But then, I was receiving multiple BSODs after that, brought it to a computer store downtown, and they determined the problem as a corrupt install of Windows 7, and proceeded to reformat it themselves. I assume they also updated all the drivers, but I'm not sure. And just now, my computer won't wake up after sleeping, I've received a BSOD in the middle of playing TF2, started up the computer again, another BSOD while starting TF2, start up again, about to google a few things, and another BSOD.Windows 7 64 bit, originally Windows 7 64bit as well, this is the 2nd reformat. The hardware itself is about 1.5 years old, except a replacement processor, which is about 1 or 2 months old.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been getting frequent BSOD's on my 18 month old Dell XPS 17 L701x laptop, so I completely wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows 7 on it. However the BSOD still persists. The error message given states, 'STOP Error0x000000D1:DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'. I am running Windows 7 home premium 64bit OEM. I will attach the dump files to this post.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to get smooth playback with any videos and it's driving me insane. I've tried WMP, VLC, MPC-HC, and it makes little difference. It doesn't matter if it's 1080p or low res.Every video plays as if it has a a very low frame rate; basically a subtle lag/stuttering that gives me a headache if I look at it for too long. It's not really noticeable until there's quick movement in the video, I've tried many different output settings in these players, and used several different codec packs.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a refurbished HP laptop, a dv7-4183cl. Overall I thought the laptop was great. However it had a problem (it periodically shut down suddenly, as if it had lost power), and I contacted HP. I was quite surprised that this refurbished laptop had a 6-month support contract.
Unfortunately things did not go well with the repair process. I had to send it in three times, and every time they sent it back, something new was broken. Some of these things I figured out and fixed, but others required sending it in again. Plus every time I moved all my files & work back & forth from the 4183cl to an older laptop, it ate up way too much of my time. Eventually I told HP "This is nuts, I'm not sending it in again."
To my astonishment, they just contacted me and offered me a NEW laptop to replace the faulty refurbished one. Wow! Major kudos to HP.
It's a higher-end model (dv7-6199) -- Core i7 instead of i5, 1TB drive instead of 500GB, 8GB RAM instead of 6. So this seems like a fabulous deal.
My question: I've spent way too much time setting up this laptop -- installing software, customizing, etc. I would *really* rather not have to do that again. If they sent me another dv7-4183cl, I would just take an image backup of my laptop and transfer the image to the new one.
Can I do that from the 4183cl to the 6199? I suspect most OS settings will work OK, and Windows 7 will probably figure out and fix any drivers/etc that are different. (For example the 6199 has a Radeon graphics processor vs. ATI in the 4183cl.) The bigger disk is my biggest concern. What happens if I restore a 500GB image to a 1TB drive? Can I extend that partition, or would it be better/possible to create a second 500GB partition?
Just trying out 7MC on an old build before I move to a new HTPC. However, I'm having a few issues.
1. When playing .avi files, the pictures is ever so slightly out of sync. It's barely noticeable but can be quite annoying. I some suggestions about changing settings in the sharks codec options, however this made the .avi unplayable. Anyone got any ideas on this? (I am playing from network storage btw)
2. When playing .mkv files, I have to crank the sound right up on my TV. If I play .avi files, it's completely fine, but .mkv files need the TV putting to the maximum volume. Anyone know why this would be? I have the shark codec packs installed.
3. My PS3 up scales content for my TV screen, however, when playing this same content on 7MC, the quality doesn't look anywhere near as good as the PS3. Anyone know why this is? Are there settings I should be doing to support up scaling (if possible)? I am using Media browser to browse to these files. The colours also don't look that great, is it possible it could be the HDMI cable (even though I thought HDMI quality didn't really matter too much). Could it also be an overscan issue?
4. Media Browser metadata has managed to recover metadata for all but two of my movies. I think the problem is that the proper movie titles have a : in them, and obviously you can't put these in a folder name. Is there anyway around this?
5. Media Browser has only been able to recover metadata for one of my TV shows. All of my other TV shows are structured the same way, but no metadata is recovered.
6. Is there anyway I can apply a view option to all of the screens in Media Broswer. For instance, when trying to decide the season of the program, can I set them all to look like the 'detail' option in the skin, or do I have to do each one manually?
I have my library sorted like Movies > Film (year) > file.avi and TV Shows > Show Name > Season # > S01E03..System spec is Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, 4GB DDR2 Crucial Ballistix 1066MHZ RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card (using HDMI).
I have an issue with my computer, in firefox and other documents the page will randomly scroll slightly, up or down at random intervals. I originally thought that this was caused by an issue with my wireless mouse, but after unplugging my mouse and keyboard from the computer the problem still occurs. What could be causing this? Vipre is showing me as clean of virus and spyware, my video drivers are up to date, what else should I look into?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, there was a short power outage which caused my computer to force shut down. When I turned it on, the screen resolution was off, so I managed to fix it by hardware (the auto button on my monitor) since software-based fixing didn't work (which has managed to solve this problem in the past, at least I think it was the same problem). Anyway, after I did this, the icons were strange; bigger than usual, not e.g. 128x128 but rather 140x128 (that isn't the exact size but they were higher than they were wide). This is quite annoying. The circular icons have become ovals and the square icons have become rectangular. By the way, the same thing has, I think, happened to the taskbar as well. It's harder to tell with things other than icons, but it's visible. So basically, everything is slightly higher than wider than it should be, not only the icons.
View 3 Replies View RelatedPretty much all my music files (even ones in separate folders) with images associated with it (like files to show album covers which are hidden), folders inside that weren't viewable before, volume information, temporary files, etc. Which are normally hidden have suddenly become viewable and are also regarded as system files (they are all slightly greyed out along with the hidden box in properties).
View 1 Replies View RelatedEverytime I start the computer in the normal way I get a bsod about 1-2 seconds after the desktop appears (after I log in) and the system crashes. When I then start the computer in the safe mode it does not instantly give me another bsod, but even in the safe mode I have gotten a bsod. I actually downloaded the exe file from the posting guide and while running that for the first time it actually crashed in safe mode again.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.Its the original OS.It is not an OEM version I think.. I did not order this computer, it was done for me. I'm pretty sure its retail, but at the moment I can not ask this to the person who ordered the computer for me.The computer is tomorrow 1 week old. (yes I managed to crash it in a week)The OS was installed 7-8 days ago, I'm not sure of that but its more then 7 days and less then 14 days for sure. Can ask if its important, but again not at this moment? When trying to do the system health report as stated in the guide (perfmon /report), it gives me a viewer stating that the system cannot find the path.
I don't have the zip attachment but I couldn't run System Help Report as I can't even access Start menu So recently my mother told me she couldn't use her PC anymore so I checked and she gets the so called Black Screen of Death upon log in. It doesn't even work on safe mode. I tried restoring to the last known good configuration and it worked after trying the different restore points, but only temporarily as the next time she logged in the black screen welcomed her once again - it's like that everytime. Now the restore points have changed and none of them work anymore. When I log in a reminder from Norton pops up on the screen (her anti-virus has expired) and when I click the button for online support the default browser, Google Chrome, opens up and I'm able to surf the Internet just fine. Also, maybe it's not related but I noticed that the volume adjustment keys on the keyboard have stopped working. When I press the Windows key, Start menu doesn't show either. If someone could tell me how I can proceed onto Step 3 (running System Health Report via Start when I can't access it)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI put the laptop into safemode and checked for viruses malware and trojans, also tried a system restore but that didnt seem to do anything and found nothing suspicious. also did the sfc /scannow no errors reported, I read that you could get into the Task manager and stop the explore.exe and add a new one and start it again. This however i cannot try as i cant get past the windows logo screen.

I've just recently started getting BSODs just after signing into windows and then at random after restarts. Sometimes after a BSOD my monitor says it cannot detect a HDMI signal even though the computer is on and the wire is plugged in. After I switch the computer off and on the display shows as normal. Sometiimes after a BSOD and I restart the computer windows doesn't load at all and just remains on a black screen with no HDD activity. The BSOD also tends to come when I start Lord of the Rings online. I had this problem before (about 8 months ago) and I replaced the graphics card, power supply, full reinstall of windows and it went away.I've run memtest64, windows mem test, chkdsk, and the buit in Dell diagnostics and they all showed nothing.I thought it could be my ASUS graphics card as I read other peope had had problems with its driver, so I removed that and it made no difference.I have run a fully updated Malwarebytes and McAfee Security Centre and they show nothing.
I have a PC that is all SATA, including the DVD drive. I prefer to set the SATA controller for AHCI for the bit of extra performance. However, build 7000 will not install from the DVD drive set like that. So I changed the SATA controller to IDE and was able to install build 7000. I then manually changed the SATA driver to AHCI, rebooted and changed the SATA controller to match. That works, of course. With build 7057, however, I was able to perform the install with the SATA controller set to AHCI. A nice improvement.
I also noticed two other things. The magical 200MB hidden partition is now 100MB, and I think I saw a speed improvement copying HDD to HDD. At one point I saw 130MB/sec copying back files to the C: drive (new 500GB Hitachi) from the V: drive (year-old 750GB Seagate). This PC has an ancient 3.2 GHz P-4 on a new motherboard.
My router and modem is on. I'm on another computer in my network, but on my new pc it says I have no connection, it doesn't have a wireless internet card but i tried directly plugging it into the modem itself and it still didn't work. I tried to download the router drivers from the CD but I need to have a internet connection to download it off of the CD. What do I do?

1- Just after Win installation I didn't get any BSD
2- After installing all drivers and SP1, the BSD started
here is the other info needed:
Dell Inspiron N5110
Win 7 x64 bit Ultimate
Retail version
Brand new laptop
Fresh installation of win 7
Note: in one of the BSD I got a specific file mentioned , athrx.sys but other BSD didn't have file specified?
About 75% (3 out of 4 ave.) of attempts to start / boot results in BSOD right after I enter password to login into my account. The error codes are different sometimes but only one I could catch = "Bad Pool Error". I have added no new hardware. Have tried all I could find for a solution without results. Including Pre-boot sys access 4118, sys file check, full scan for virus several times. all the usual.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a windows 7 Advent quantum q200 laptop. Every time I log in I get the BSOD, so just wandering how I can factory restore my laptop, because 1, it's incredibly slow and 2, I don't mind losing personal files.
Additional info:
I can log on in safe mode
I cannot system restore because I do not have a previous restore point.
The laptop (which was running) was OK (battery just kicked in, obviously). (Win 7 32bit)But the PC (I was working on) wasn't !!! (Win 7 64 bit)When the power came on five minutes later, I restarted the PC.Everything appeared fine, however the program which was open and that I was working in, wouldn't "fire up"....and "windows was trying to find a solution to the problem"....as it does, or rather doesn't.FYI The program (.exe) is a data mining, bridge program (between a data feed to a financial platform. (also "firefox", which also was open, couldn't open either).First I looked at "System Restore" and noted that it said that "Rapport" had updated (at the date and time of the power outage), so I contacted Trusteer via their online chat facility. They said that they have indeed had put an update out recently but knew of no conflicts.
I therefore (with fingers crossed) thought it may just be a conflict with "Rapport", so from "programs" I removed "Rapport", then rebooted, then tried to "fire up" the program again....but it again failed to open or run.Next, I did a "System Restore" that put me back a few days (from the 11th of Nov to the 3rd of Nov).I then once again removed "Rapport" and rebooted. Then (with fingers crossed again) I tried the program once more.Again it failed to open and run.I also tried "firefox"...and this also failed to open and run.Next I removed the program from the computer, rebooted it, then re installed the program...and rebooted. ...but still nothing.
I checked (just in the off chance)that the program had not changed since I last installed it (some 10 month previously) by installing it on the laptop....and it installed just fine, opened and ran as it should. So then I looked looked to investigate futher and ran " sfc/scannow " (as administator), thinking that this would throw up some corrupt files in the system, which would give me a starting point from which to work from........but nothing was found. Everything "appeared" to be clear. By that I mean it came up with no faults at all.I rebooted the computer after this scan (just to add a belt, to the braces, so to speak)....and again, the program will not open or run.So...to recap.I have removed "Rapport", which was the only "update" that had happened.I did a "System Restore" to a date where everything was clear....and everything was running. (and removed Rapport) I removed and reinstalled the program which was (is) affected.

It is usually just after login, but lately the BSOD is coming within the first half hour. I have done a clean install with Windows 7 Enterprise and the problem is still there.
I have done memtest and prime95 for several hours with no problem in fail safe mode. Also no problem with chkdsk. Fail safe mode never crashes, only normal login. Have removed DVD drive. Still BSOD.
