Bluetooth Devices No Longer Work After Applying Service Pack 1 To Windows 7?
May 4, 2011
I recently updated my Windows 7 Ultimate with Service Pack 1 through Windows Update and after the reboot my Bluetooth devices dont work. I have two Dell mice and a Dell keyboard and they no longer function.I deleted the devices and added them back and while they were discovered and did attach they dont function. Additionally, detailed information on the devices is no longer present. One of my mice was a Dell Travel Mouse and before it showed up as an icon that looked just like my mouse not it shows up as a generic mouse.
In trying to troubleshoot this i disabled the internal Bluetooth and plugged in a Belkin Bluetooth Dongle and it behaves the same way. However as this was an external device it has a flashing light showing when it is receiving a transmission and when I moved the mouse the light would flash so the signal is getting to the computer however nothing is happening on screen. This dongle works perfect on my other Dell D620 Laptop with Windows 7 and no service pack.

I installed Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. After it rebooted, on the Windows 7 loading screen it shows "Applying update operation XXXX of XXXX". After a certain number it says "Error applying operation XXXX of XXXX", and then the system proceeds to hang on that screen, meaning that I am unable to access Windows. I try mashing F8 for my life when resetting the computer, but I never get a list of boot options, so I cannot get into Safe Mode or even try the computer's Last Known Good Configuration. The edition of this version of Windows 7 is 64 bit Ultimate. The laptop I am using is also 64 bit Ultimate.
Another thing I want to point out is that both of these computers have been taking an incredibly long time (near 12 hours at this point) trying to download and install Service Pack 1. There is no spyware or anything running in the background. I am fearing that I might get the same error on this machine but I have taken the liberty of creating a System Restore point in the event it happens. I have two other Windows 7 machines in the house (32 bit Professional and 64 bit Home Premium), and both of them installed Service Pack 1 without any kind of problem, and both of those computers installed them rather quickly.

Here's what you need to do for both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 systems:
- Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' ( current version is 6.1 ) which you can download it from url...this works for both Vista and Windows 7. I've tried it on both.
- Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configures the settings on the bluetooth devices but for those who have Windows 7, here are the things you should do:
- Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer Icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.
- You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'
- Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.
- Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.
- Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".
- Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list if it asked you to select and then in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose 'Microsoft Corporation', not only Microsoft.
- From the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. Select one or the latest.
- Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.
Now, after manually updating the driver for your bluetooth device, in 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should display one more item which will say 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.There are few more things that you want to pay attention to. If you have already added the device in your 'bluetooth device list' that didn't work, then remove the device and add it again. After you add it, you might need to restart the computer if it gave you a connection problem error message. Every PCs that had Windows 7 and Vista worked after installing this software and I hope it will work for you too.

I downloaded the service pack last night. It installed with no problem. Sort of embarrased to say this, but I have been unable to get into Farm Town on Face Book today. It's the first time I tried since installing the service pack. This has happened on both the desktop and laptop. Both are Windows 7 64 bit.

Microsoft website? Why is it gone from the update list?

I never realized it until just now, when I looked through Windows Update. It's been trying to install the service pack update about a hundred times behind my back since LAST JULY. and every time the status is "Failed."
I had checked because I just installed it last night again and shut down my computerr and everything seemed fine. Then this morning I noticed the windows update icon in the taskbar and saw it again even though I just installed it last night and noticed all the failed installations

I have a PC running windows 7 64-bit and I am finding it impossible to get windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to install. I start the installation and it seems to run for more than an hour and appears to be installing OK; but when I restart the PC I get an error saying that the installation was not successful and it the rolls back to where it was before I started the installation. I have tried to install a numbr of times, but without success.I have also tried:
* Stopping all non-essential start-up items by disabling them booting on startup using msconfig.
* Stopped all firewall and anti-virus from running during installation
* Run the Windows Update System Readiness Tool (kb947821) before the installation
* Run the Windows Update troubleshooter
* Running the installer from within Windows Update, as a standalone x-64 bit installed downloaded from Microsoft, and as an iso file burned to a DVD
* Run sfc.exe /scannow which reported no errors.
Other Windows Updates seem to install OK - it is just the SP1 update that refuses.[For info: I have another PC that I recently updated (clean install) from XP to Windows 7. I had a similar problem on this PC after I had performed all the other Windows Updates and instaleld my normal suite of programs. SP1 also refused to install. In the end, I reistaleld Win 7 from disc and then immediately installed SP1 before installing any other updates or programs. SP1 installed OK. However I do not want to follow this route on my main PC as it has a load of programs installed which will take a few days to reinstall if I have to start from scratch].

I just got Windows 7 Enterprise N about a week ago. It is for my computer networking class, our teacher also gave us a bit more other software and I am trying to find out what I am doing wrong. I have installed and ran the precursor software from microsoft.com to make sure that my computer is able to use SP1 and I don't have any problems in my registry. It is an official, licensed version and registered, and all the other updates work. I have manually downloaded and tried to install it and still nothing. Where do I start on troubleshooting this?

I was updating neighbors PC last night and when I tried to install the windows 7 service pack from windows update at the end of the install it would say it failed then when I rebooted the pc it would say configuring windows and when it reached 32% it would stall and then say it was removing updates and reverting, then it would reboot, do the same thing, reboot and do that cycle like 6 times before windows would actually load up like normal. It happens if I download the .exe version or I try to get it from windows update.
Its a dell pc (forgot the model but its newer has a core i7 860 in it). Has windows 7 ultimate 32bit on it.

Every time I rebooted my laptop windows runs through preparing to configure windows, then configuring the service pack, starting at 35% and finishing on 37% and then boots windows normally. This is very annoying to go through everytime I reboot. I ran the portable fix it program from microsoft to fix windows update problem but it I booted into safe mode to try uninstall the service pack to reinstall but now when it reboots it says preparing to configure windows, then failure to configure service pack, reverting changes. Now it does this every time.I've tried running windows updates to try to reinstall but it just seems to go on forever. I have also run the System update readiness tool from microsoft but it does the same as the windows updates, runs continuously

I noticed that after installing SP1, when I subsequently went to run Disk Cleanup, I had 920 Mbs of "Service Pack Backup Files. Upon searching the web as to whether I could delete these 920 Mbs of files with impunity and whether I should, there were many differences of opinion. Since I have often been guided by Tech Support Guy, I thought I would solicit the opinion of all of you. While I do not really need the extra space that removal of these 920 Mbs would provide, since I have 54% of free space, I am just uncomfortable with what I believe may be unnecessary files hanging around on my computer.

After I reinstalled it, and went on to update the W7 SP1 a strange noise came out of my machine just as it began installing it, and then it seemed like my hard drive crashed, so the PC became unresponsive and I had to shut it down by holding in the button (it tried to recover files when I started it up again, hence my hard drive problem theory).I've since reformatted my machine five times and the exact same thing happens, everything, including hard drive works perfectly until I get to installing Service Pack 1.

They called it an error in attribute record and said the error is inthe operating system of my computer.

I have upgraded my laptop from Vista to Windows 7 and since installed 91 updates. Service Pack 1 installs but then fails to configure. I have tried so many different ways to sort this, all without success. I even tried to install and configure in 'Safe Mode' but it made no difference. I cannot install my printer drivers and I am hoping it is merely because of the lack of SP1 being installed.

Tried to install Service Pack 1 on my machine today and I find it gets stuck as it installs once I've shut it down. I did have to hide one of the updates about a month ago which did the same thing, so I'm assuming it's been put in SP1 and is what's causing it to get stuck. Just tried to view the hidden updates to tell you which one it was, and to ask how to stop it from installing in SP1, but it seems to have disappeared from there, which might be because of SP.Can I find this missing hidden update? Is there a way that I can remove this one update from SP1?
