Acer Recovery "BOOTMGR Is Missing?
Feb 13, 2010I got a Acer Aspire 5738Z laptop with Windows 7, I created recovery discs and then got windows 2000 installed on it. Now I wanted to get back win 7, so i inserted the first recovery disc and started recovery. On reaching the second disc, i got some error message and recovery failed. On restarting getting message BOOTMGR is missing. I tried reinstalling with first recovery disc but not working. So now I dont have any operating system on my computer and the recovery discs also not working.

Jun 15, 2012I want to switch my graphic (I have dual graphic one is intel and one is ATI mobility Radeon), I click okay to switch to power saving graphic intel, and so the screen blacks out. It never respond after black out, I made hard restart and screen freeze at the win 7 icon. No lucky, I hard press again and start up to ask me if I want to scan for my previous startup problem, I did and it tried fixing the problem til next morning. No luck, give me a choice of to do a HP recovery or system recovery, some how I must have accidentally click on HP recovery and preceded to click through all the warnings, til it was at 1% then I realized that it was going to delete all my DATA!Well, I was still very sleepy when I decided to terminate that recovery...by power shut down.So power up: "BOOTMGR is Missing Press Crtl-Alt-Del to restart"I went through F11 system recovery to try and see if I can still recover, but no luck, later i tried some steps in cmd window:

bootrec/rebuildbcd
bootrec/scanos
got error says I have zero OS installed!
Bcdboot c:windows also give me failure when attempting to copy boot files I restarted, try and try again, but now it won't even let me into system recovery says "BOOTMGR is missing" now I can't even access my command to try some recovery without totally deleting my files.... I tried burning a win7 ultimate iso to a DVD and try boot from there but it says no OS system found.My computer is HP touchsmart with switchable graphic, HP has a recovery partition that can restore my computer but I don't know how to access it now. Can't get pass the screen of BOOTMGR is missing...I learn my lesson don't touch computer til im fully sober. I may have done the DVD bootable wrong. And now I NEED EXPERT HELP! My original system is win 7 home premium 64x, but all I have at my disposal is a copy of win 7 ultimate 64x.Some specs of my computer: HP touchsmart with switchable graphic, intel i5 and ATI mobility Only has one OS: Windows 7 Home premium 64x Has HP recovery partition, and 300GB of other space.have this InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev. 3.5 and currently all I can do is do some random scans.. Primary hard disk self test, and then memory test, I don't expect to see any problems since I have this done with in the HP system recovery environment.
Can't Find Drives During Installation -- Bootmgr Is Missing
Nov 7, 2012I purchased a vizio all in one desktop model CA24-A2 , with windows 7 installed. I upgraded it to windows 8, but decided to return back to windows 7 because the Metro UI always crashes on me. I purchased a windows 7 disc and booted the computer off the disc. When the installation asks which drive to install it to, nothing appears. For some reason, the installation disc is not reading the drives. I've checked vizio's page, but didn't find any drivers for the hard drive that would work. I check the Bios menu and both drives appear. I've read on other forum about changing the bios mode (AHCI,IDE), but my bios menu is very restricted, and i dont have that option available. I used MiniTool Partition wizard on a bootable cd, and it was able to see my hard drives as well. I added some pictures below. When i try to boot windows with windows 8, "bootmgr is missing" error appears. After restarting my computer several times it seems i only have access to the bios menu f2, and not f8 for recovery.

She encountered a problem starting up the windows and decided to use Recovery Disk, Recovery Disk stopped working and needs additional source (disk) to run. She weren't successful so decided to stop recovery and run it again. After that the error "BOOTMGR is missing" appeared! When I put the recovery disk inside the machine it doesn't work. F8 and F4 keys also don't work. So I can't use the similar solution mentioned on the internet like running "system restore". She also doesn�t have Windows 7 installation disc to run.

Oct 28, 2011I just got a computer for free, a Dell Studio 1555. When I got it, it would try to boot, then come to a screen that said that bootmgr.exe was missing. Sometimes I got a message that said something like mpio.sys was corrupted or missing. I have a Win 7 disk, so I put it in and tried to repair the installation. Each time I ran it, it said that the repair had failed. I tried to reinstall windows 7, and It made it to the first restart in the process. It showed the "Starting Windows" screen, but the colors of the windows logo never appeared, then I got the missing bootmgr screen. I decided to install Ubuntu and see if that worked, and it did (I installed it alongside the Windows installation). It was Ubuntu 10.04. I thought, "OK, so i'll just use this as a Linux machine"...and I decided to go back and reinstall so that I could use the entire hard drive. It never worked correctly again. Each subsequent time that I installed Ubuntu, I was told something along the lines of "Gnome Power Manager did not install correctly" and got a slow and choppy Ubuntu installation.Tried to install 11.10, and it failed completely. I opened the Ubuntu live from my usb drive, and opened the disk utility. I now cannot format, reformat, partition, or delete partitions on the drive. Is all of this just a case of a hard drive on its last legs, or is there something else going on here?

It continually reboots regardless of what type of start up I select (ie. safe mode, sade mode with command prompt, last known good setting, etc.).I recently scanned my desktop computer and received an HD521-2W SMART error. After doing a little research, I figured that there's pretty much nothing I can do and the hard drive is on its final stretch. However, what are my options of recovering my data on the dying harddrive ? (keeping in mind that I can no longer boot properly to the login screen). The files I want to recover are mostly photos, a few word files, and bookmarks.

Sep 10, 2012I had first installed Windows Vista Ultimate x64 on a unpartitioned 640GB drive. I then partitioned my other 320GB drive to install two things:
A FAT32 30GB partition of Windows XP Home
A NTFS 160GB partition of Windows 7 Home Premium x64
The remaining space (around 108GB) was left unpartitioned I then decided to uninstall Windows Vista. So I opened up EasyBCD and deleted the entry, then deleted the partition (this was after backing up all files.) So I erased the partition. When I went to start up Windows 7 I got an error code saying:
File: windowssystem32winload.exe
Status: 0xc0000428
Info: WIndows cannot verify the digital signature for this file.
It tells me that I can either use the recovery tool with the Windows 7 disc or press F8 to temporarily disable the driver signature enforcement. The problem is that F8 doesn't work (if I go back and press F8, I get the same error screen) and when I put in the Windows 7 disc and boot up from it, none of my OS entries show up in the recovery console. Now because I have a multiboot system, I can boot into XP fine. It's just the Windows 7 entry that produces the error message.So I'm stuck. I've been searching around for days and everyone either says to use the disc (which doesn't work) or to reinstall Windows (which I would prefer not to do because I can't find another key and don't want to use another Key for Office 2010). Some more info, when I boot into Ubuntu live usb, all the partitions are present and all the files in Windows 7 are present including winload.exe on the Win 7 partition.

Sep 20, 2011I am helping a friend with her Windows 7 laptop which crashed this evening. Startup repair has tried several times but still cannot fix the problem. System Restore fails as well despite trying numerous restore points.The log show that a root cause was found:

C:CI.dll is corrupt
She has important personal data on this system so a fresh OS install is not an option yet.THis will be a good learning experience for me as I am looking into starting my own computer repair business. I'm not quite sure how to proceed with this. What should I do from here? Do I need to remove her HD and use a data recovery app on a separate system to recover her files, then reinstall Windows 7?

Dec 4, 2011A week ago my computer crashed after my dad used it. It ran a System Fix which was a virus and a program I don't remember installing. Now when it boots it has a black screen that says Windows Memory Error and gives two options, Start Windows Recovery or Start Windows Normally. When he realized what he had done he tried the recovery tool first. It had a Windows is Loading files bar that didn't move at all so he left it on all night. It never moved, so he tried option 2 it brought up the 5 Recovery tools none of them did anything helpful. We tried using safe mode, it doesn't work either, brings back to useless Windows Recovery tools. We went out and Bought an OEM since the person we bought this from forgot to give us the Install Discs, We got to Repair Your Computer option below Install, it said our version of windows wasn't the right version for the OEM so it was a waste of $200. Now I am stuck and out of ideas. I've hooked the harddrives up to our old Windows XP and virus scanned, check disced, and backed up them. how to recover and repair without reformatting/wiping the HDD?

One of the first things on my list is making sure I have the appropriate repair/recovery prep in hand for the inevitable All that came with the pc was a Drivers and Utilities cd.So far, I have created a Repair Disk...do I also want/need to create a System Image?I've only created the Administrator acct at this point, but will need to create at least one User acct for lovely wife (and it seems I should also be creating one for myself as well, and not using the Admin acct, from some things I've read).

So I try to do the same thing, I run start up repair, and it says problems can't be solved automatically, I clicked on details, it shows that a problem signature is CorruptFile.This time, theres no BSOD, but it kept leading me to the Start up recovery page (the one with sys restore, restore system using image etc and command prompt). I tried running safe mode, as well as safe mode with networking, last known good config, ran all the options on system recovery/system restore. It seems like the only option i have left is use the command prompt to fix the problem. I lost the windows installation CD, so some of the commands such as bootrec.exe is in vain. I don't really know what i'm doing any way when I use the command prompt. As a last resort, I'm willing to reinstall my comp, what do i do so that i can save some files? also is it possible that I download the reinstallation file since I lost the original one?

I cannot install HP hardware and windows is partially functional on surface installs updates but errors before can be set up.I've tried to follow step by step many different options which isnt easy since I am always missing a piece of the puzzle. Now I still have recovery partition, no option to update or reactivate Windows. After ordering 2nd set of recovery discs HP tells me using the discs probably caused my problems but I'm out of warrenty and out of luck

The problem is that when i resterted some screen said: System Recovery Options and I couldn't use the computer so installed W-7 again but now I'm afraid to shut down my computer because I don't want to re-install it again and again. What can I do to no get the System recovery options screen. My computer is a Gateway.
This is what the System Recovery Options screen says:
1. Select language

Windows 7 Cannot Boot System Recovery Options?
Oct 13, 2012I have a Toshiba laptop in which I installed my copy of Windows 7. Recently, it has not been able to boot: it just restarts when trying to. I tried the typical things:booting to safe mode, etc. but they all do the same. So I tried to sin the System Recovery Options, first from the Advanced Boot Options menu and then directly from my Windows 7 disk. In all these cases, the program gets stuck after selecting the "Repair Your Computer" option, as in this picture:The mouse keeps working fine, but all I can see is the background image, and no window pops up. I know that it is supposed to prompt me to select my windows installation, but that window never comes up. A similar thing happens when I try to install windows instead. It just never gets to the next step.Is there anything that anyone can think of that I could do to solve this problem?

Sep 6, 2011My husband's comp crashed...he had Win7 Os. Recovery did not work! I tried to reintall Win7 got as far as formatting the hard drive. I then reinserted the cd to reinstall and now all I get as far as "Press any key..." I press a key and "BOOTMGR MISSING" press ctrl + alt + del to restart. Of course this doesn't work.I have reset the bios so that cd-rom is the only bootable device. It will not move from the bootmgr missing screen. It is checked on use recovery tool taht can help fix problems starting windows. I click next. I get a pop up that says this version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair,So then I made the 64 bit recovery disk & restarted. Mar 13, 2012First off, why is reinstalling windows 7 such a pita? I've done it several times and it's soooooooo bad. With that aside, tonight I was attempting to reinstall 64 bit from 32 bit. I reformatted my hd using dos because advanced recovery simple does not work. After formatting and restarting I'm getting te bootmgr error. After reading countless threads with fixes nothing is helping. I CANNOT get past this error. I have the disc in, it won't go past the error. Pushing f2, f8, and f12 does not work. I can't do anything in the bios. Most of the solutions simply assume you can get PAST the error.
The next step I tried was unplugging the hd I formatted and installing to a different hd. This gives me an error of missing a device required. At this point I have no idea what to do besides maybe reformatting the hd again using another pc. Is there a recovery program I should dl to a blank cd?

I searched the forum for my error: 0x800704f and couldn't find it nor could I get to see my SSD and am therefore not able to use the tutorial to "get it back." Well, I am at a loss at this point. I was originally trying a fresh install of Windows 7 pro. But, just prior, I got an error box that the Catalyst Control Center was not working properly(or something like that). My Bootmgr Is Missing
Mar 11, 2011i had an unexpected shutdown, i tried to reinstall the windows 7 as it wasnt working. i formated the partition that the operating system was on, but then was unable to install the new OS.
it wont let me delete partitions or create new ones.now everytime i start the computer it is missing bootmgr.ive tried unclicking the hard drive cables which gets me into the repairing windows bit. but this doesnt help as i deleted the OS.

I chnaged the proity boot sequence in the BIOS to SSD but get BOOTMGR is missing error...
Ghost doesnt seem to assist you with boot issues just the copying..
