View 1 RepliesI have just done a clean install from xp to windows 7 64 bit, everything is working fine except i have no audio, in the right hand of the task bar i am getting no audio output device is detected. If i look on device manager there is a fault on the multimedia audio controller The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a custom pc that my brother built for me. The specs are in my signature. I recently upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7 home premium. I did a drive reformat also. Initially, everything was fine. But for some reason all of a sudden, I have no sound, my plugged in speakers are not detected at all and the audio service is not running. Everything else is fine. I assumed it was as a result of an update, so I did a system restore. I guess my restore points didn't go back far enough. No change.
According to my motherboard specs, I have the realtek ALC888 onboard audio. So, I thought I'd just be able to install the latest hd audio driver for my os from realtek's site. I tried several times (10+). It prompts me to restart and when I do, it says that the device driver did not install correctly and it defaults to the microsoft one every time. In device manager, I have a yellow triangle next to one of the 2 "high definition audio controllers" with a code 10 error (device cannot start).
Under sound, video and game controllers, I have "High definition audio device": microsoft, driver version 6.1.7601.17514 11/19/2010. I tried manually installing the driver from the zip file by directing the update utility to it's extracted location. It always says that my driver is up to date. I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to be updating one of the hd audio controllers or the hd audio device or both (I've tried both), so I suppose i could be doing it wrong.
I've tried uninstalling the hd audio controllers and the hd audio devices and rebooting, the same thing happens. I've tried a repair install from the disc. No change. The only thing I haven't tried is reformatting my hard drive and doing yet another clean install. I really don't want to have to do this again because re-downloading my programs and music/docs/pictures is a chore. Completely reinstalled windows and still don't have any sound...I'm completely at a loss.
I have a Lenovo Thinkcentre M55 8813-a21 (LKRYA75). The sound works just fine in any Ubuntu installation i do, but I cannot get sound in either XP or Windows 7. I also couldn't get the networking drivers to work in XP so I am now on Windows 7. I have tried the driver download page on the Lenovo website, but none of them work. I don't know where to go from here.

View 21 Replies View RelatedAbout a year ago I built my cousin a computer using some spare parts I had around using an original Creative Audigy as the sound card. Due to him trashing so that it had the BSOD, and me not quite liking the setup I had placed on it, I took the computer from him to wipe the OS and reinstall it. This time however the sound doesn't work and I've tried everything. I am not ignorant to computing and am 99% of the time self sufficient so this is an expert (mostly) reaching out to other experts as this problem has me stumped.I tried installing the drivers and reinstalling them, letting windows install it's default drivers to which it says it couldn't find any, installing a creative compatibility pack, removing Upper and Lower Filter entries in the registry (bit of a last ditch), standard windows troubleshooting in which it says "An unexpected error occurred. The trouble shooting wizard can't continue.", replacing the sound card with an Auzentec X-fi Prelude and installing and reinstalling its drivers, checking windows update for drivers, etc.
The two main errors I have are: "No audio output device detected" when hovering over the speaker icon with the red X, and "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" in the device manager with a yellow triangle flag over the device.Do note that this install is a striped install using RT Se7en Lite which took out things like Windows Media Player and the default drivers, etc. but since I realized that this could be the problem, I made a new partition and installed clean, unaltered Windows 7 32bit on it and the problem remains even on that install.
I've run chkdsk and sfc which got to about 13% and said it found corrupted files but couldn't fix them which might be the problem but the log didn't have anything I recognized as I haven't deciphered one of them before, so I am unsure and that could just be due to the stripping that RT Se7en Lite did (unless the master file list that sfc uses is generated from when you install windows, not just a default list).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 32 bit and I just noticed that all my drivers for the USB controllers, Audio/Sound devices and the Networking internet (Broadcom Netxtreme Drivers) have all died. They indicate that a Code 39 is the problem. I tried to load some of the drivers but it wouldn't allow them to install. I did a last known configuration attempt, no results. Did a system restore and it gave me an error message saying it didn't restore properly. I am trying to get the drivers online, burn them to a disk and load them. I have no internet access on that PC and the USB ports obviously don't work. I can get drivers on this PC online. Some I can't find. I did the uninstall driver, disable, all the usual for this problem. I am stumped. Any recovery attempts produce nil results. Thanks to Microsoft, I have no installation disc to do a new install or a backup image.

View 1 Replies View Relatedproblem I'm having is that the on-board audio will not install regardless of what I do, let windows solve the issue, install the (apparently) compatible driver from the Gigabyte website via it's exe or manually from the same source.
I'm a little short on time at the moment so if any more info is required (system or other) please ask but I'm at a loss as to what to do. Despite oodles of googling If I can't find a solution I will just buy a new soundcard but this is a last resort.
My sound is working but "line in" and stuff wont show up in sound. So I have sound but no mic. The driver says its a Microsoft driver. The sigmatel audio drivers I tried using were all distorted when I installed them as in the sound would work and everything would show up in Sound but was messed up. Its obviously the wrong driver so I uninstalled it and put the "Microsoft" one back.

in Windows 7 Realtek HD Audio Drivers
I think I have found a solution to this.
I recently had problems my self.
First you have to install this, from Intel: Intel® Desktop Board D910GLDW Audio: Realtek* ALCxxx Driver
Second, install the latest drivers from Realtek, R2.22. I uploaded the zip file to filefront, as their ftp server is running by mouse power. Vista_R222.zip Download File
I hope it will work. for you. I had a lot of trouble finding the solution. Everything has to do with Intel's high definition codec that for some reason Realtek choose not to include in their driver packages.
I'd just like to tell anyone who has a sound card based off the emu10k1 chipset that Creative had discontinued driver support for the cards as of Vista. They release new drivers but a lot of the sound was botched intentionally (or so the rumors go).
That's why if you install propriatery drivers you get too much bass or crackeling? If that sounds familiar you know what I'm talking about, well then you might want to try out the KX Audio drivers (both 32bit and 64bit). They are much more configurable than the original Creative/Windows drivers and work very well.
I have used them both for 32bit and 64bit, I posted a link in the other drivers section but I'm going to post this here as well, if you want to move my other link I'm sorry for posting it in the section I did. Anyways I'm just typing this so people will know that Creative has no intentions of ever picking up support for the emu10k1 chipset.
Full list of supported drivers (note 64bit is BETA support may be limited):
kX Project: Knowledgebase: kX Soundblaster Compatibility List
Known issue with 64bit is the kmixer works in Vista compat, but I'm fine with that because audio runs 100% smooth. Also it has autodetection for the audio jacks wich is VERY glitchy so I would recomend Wave Out 4/5 for stereo on 64 bit (green next to black), and plug it in before you reboot.
Once you boot if you change the plugs it might lock up, hopefully that changes on the newer builds. You might be able to get surround working, I didn't test it and don't know what Wave Out it is so have fun if you test it.
I have an old Auzentech X-Plosion Cinema sound card and Realtek audio connections on my P8P67 motherboard.
Would there be any problems if I installed drivers for both and switched between them?
Apart from the manager where you can manage your connection is there any stability or sound quality improvement. It definately fixes my Unreal engine 3 BSOD's, but why could that be?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter a clean install of Windows 7 from Vista 64 bit , all went perfect except for the audio drivers. After a few weeks Windows 7 was saying that the sigmatel audio driver installed was not working. Sigmatel is now actaully IDT. Any of the so called updated drives from sigmatel or IDT will not install. So just delete any installed audio drives in Device manager and let windows install the drives upon rebooting, they work perfectly and they are the most recent drivers i could find anywhere for the High Definition codec.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome time ago i put together a HTPC with a Asrock A75M-HVS mtherboard (VIA VT1705 Audio Codec) hooked up to my tv with HDMI(sound+video), installed windows and installed on the drivers from Asrocks website.Today i was thinking that I had probably installed the audio drivers over the windows drivers and i wanted to make sure i had the latests drivers from VIA, i was looking around how i could stop windows from installing audio drivers, i found a method using gpedit.msc wich seemed to work, it blocked windows from installing its own driver. So I downloaded the latest driver from VIA website (this was a newer version then from asrock's website). I think it installed correctly but the only thing that showed under playback devices was "Speakers", the digital hdmi output had dissapeared.I tought this was a problem with the driver so i download the one from Asrock thinking this one has to work, but the same problem. This had taken several hours of messing around so i tought screw it, ill take the windows drivers, so I let windows install and it seems to work and i got my sound back, under playback devices there are now 2 options again "speakers" and "digital audio hdmi". I get sound using the digital audio output, but only stereo, when i click the configure option it doesnt let me pick 5.1.I dont really care anymore what driver I have, I would just like to have my 5.1 back,
