"No Audio Output Device Detected"
Feb 8, 2012
About a year ago I built my cousin a computer using some spare parts I had around using an original Creative Audigy as the sound card. Due to him trashing so that it had the BSOD, and me not quite liking the setup I had placed on it, I took the computer from him to wipe the OS and reinstall it. This time however the sound doesn't work and I've tried everything. I am not ignorant to computing and am 99% of the time self sufficient so this is an expert (mostly) reaching out to other experts as this problem has me stumped.I tried installing the drivers and reinstalling them, letting windows install it's default drivers to which it says it couldn't find any, installing a creative compatibility pack, removing Upper and Lower Filter entries in the registry (bit of a last ditch), standard windows troubleshooting in which it says "An unexpected error occurred. The trouble shooting wizard can't continue.", replacing the sound card with an Auzentec X-fi Prelude and installing and reinstalling its drivers, checking windows update for drivers, etc.
The two main errors I have are: "No audio output device detected" when hovering over the speaker icon with the red X, and "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" in the device manager with a yellow triangle flag over the device.Do note that this install is a striped install using RT Se7en Lite which took out things like Windows Media Player and the default drivers, etc. but since I realized that this could be the problem, I made a new partition and installed clean, unaltered Windows 7 32bit on it and the problem remains even on that install.
I've run chkdsk and sfc which got to about 13% and said it found corrupted files but couldn't fix them which might be the problem but the log didn't have anything I recognized as I haven't deciphered one of them before, so I am unsure and that could just be due to the stripping that RT Se7en Lite did (unless the master file list that sfc uses is generated from when you install windows, not just a default list).

Since installing it, I had a problem with my sound, which was as the title states, no audio output device. I've been through several drivers, none of which worked, and I've also tried sound max, which has in fact worked, however I can't stand the little sound bar when you up or down the volume, and it's fairly unresponsive when I use the buttons on my laptop. So in all fairness, I just want the actual driver designed to work with this laptop.I do have a version of Windows 7 Home Premium, not too sure if it'd make much difference, however I'd rather not go through another OS install as I've got most of my stuff already set up on this now!I am good with computers so don't be afraid to get technical, but I just need another angle on this because it's most likely just something I'm overlooking.

I've been searching on Google for the last three and a half hours for a solution but came up with nothing, so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone can tell me what's up. I turned on my laptop today to find that there was a little red 'x' over the audio symbol, and upon further inspection it turned out that there was no audio driver installed. I wasn't very bothered about it at first, because after a Windows update once I had to reinstall it, and everything ran smoothly from there because I just reinstalled the driver which originally came with the laptop. Now, this is the problem. I tried installing the driver, and the installation seemed to go fine, I was prompted to restart, did so, but when I logged in after the reboot, I was still getting the "No Audio Output Device Is Installed" error. I searched around, tried a different Realtek HD driver. Same result. Tried again with a different driver, no luck. Wax on, wax off. I can't figure out why it's happening, but maybe someone here can?

I have Windows 7 32bit OS on my comp, few days ago i bought new headphones, steel series siberia v2 USB 7.1(51103), they didn't work in my computer, but they did in other pc, that I have, actually in 3 others. The problem was same as here "No Audio Output Device is Installed" but only with the USB PnP audio device, my onboard sound card worked fine. I need to disable my onboard card to enable any external card. (I think I also uninstalled drivers to my Onboard card). I did that, still didn't worked. So I enabled Onboard audio device (and installed drivers) in Bios and now I got the problem with onboard card as with headphones.
I tried to reinstall/uninstall to allow windows to find drivers, I tried a lot of different ones, don't think drivers are the case, cause its not working for any of 3 cards, even they have diffrent drivers, little chance to have 3 models with wrong drivers as newest, I tried even downloading drivers for other motherboard, because someone said it worked for them QQ. My Windows Audio service is enabled. I tried restarting Bios. Tried even plugging PCI sound card, same problem.

When I hover my mouse over the speaker icon, "no audio output device is installed" appears. I still have sound. There's a red X in along with the speaker icon. When I troubleshoot, it fails and has error 0x8000FFFF. My sound card and microphone stuff are there when I check the devices, and they work. I still can adjust volume with my keyboard, but it starts the troubleshooter when I click the speaker

English is not my first language so I'm not familiar with the Computer Science vocabulary. I've had a Pavilion dv9700, Model # dv9819wm, for approximately 2 years. My hard drive failed and the guys at my school were able to recover 60 GB of files but most of them don't have an ordinary format. They are just saved on a folder on my desktop. They installed Windows 7, (It was Windows Vista before the failure) and I've been having problems with the coprocessor and "ethernet" drivers. Yesterday I uninstalled the "ethernet" driver and when my laptop rebooted the audio driver was nowhere, (obviously I have no audio), which was surprising since that was not the one I uninstalled. My Sound device is not shown on Device Manager either. I uploaded some applications that identify missing drivers and apparently the sound driver is the newest one available. I got on BIOS and the sound button was enabled. I went to HP's website and the only audio drivers offered for my laptop model were for OS Vista. When I try to automatically install the driver from another HP application it says something like my "Compatibility..." is not permitting a correct installation. First, what is going on? and is there any way I can get my pictures and videos from those 60 GB into a normal

I was instructed to remove the stdriver64.sys from my system as it was causing crashes. Well after I've done so the audio device refuses to work I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall my Realktek High Definition device a few times, but it still refuses to work. I have to system restore to get stdriver64 back on my system which is the only way I have sound, but it crashes if I do.

I've been asked to take a look at my mother's laptop. A 10lb medicine ball fell/rolled onto the keyboard. The computer in question is an ASUS G72G laptop running Windows 7 Home 64bit. The sound symbol in the task bar has a red, circular X mark on it and says "No Audio Output Device Installed". I've tried downloading and installing the audio driver from this site but it tells me that this version of Windows is not supported, though I know for certain that this version of windows matches the driver listed:f anyone has an idea as to the underlying cause of this problem, I'd very happy to hear it. I know it seems like a hardware problem, but I'm wondering if it could have hit any function keys or something to disable the sound, as I've been told that some sort of message popped up immediately about the mouse or something, but I wasn't there and don't really know exactly what it said
