Audio Completely Stopped Working After Installing HD Driver
Sep 3, 2012
I have Compaq Presario C784TU laptop with windows 7 updated on it. Recently while watching a movie, the audio suddenly started giving problems. I updated my audio driver in the device manager and it installed Conexant High Definition Audio Driver 221. After installing that, my audio completely stopped working. Also, that my headphones are working but only the speakers have stopped working. I have checked all the settings and also I don't think there is any problem with the hardware.
A month ago, I got my brand new, very nice Aurora R4 Alienware computer. A week after that the Realtek HD Audio Manager stops working every time I start my computer. It is very annoying. I still get sound, although now after trying to troubleshoot it, Vent tells me Direct Sound can't be enabled because it can't find a driver. Which of course is even more annoying.
The error message says : Quote :Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:RtkNGUI64.exe
i have a problem with my usb and ps2 ports they stopped working after i installed a pcie nvdia 8600gt card but my 2 front usbs work fine the 4 at back dont also nor do my ps2 ports
the funny thing is when i remove the the nvidia graphics card my ports start to work again i have tryed a fresh install still nothing according to device manager my usb ports are working but when i plug something in theres nothing even when i have my ps2 mouse n keyboard plugged in at boot up there isint even a hint of power there is no exclamation marks in device manger either
my motherboard is a ECS Geforce7050m-m vers2.0 2 gigs of ram a dualcore amd+2 7850 black edition processor 500 gig harddrive
my only option would to be take out my nvidia card and use the onboard graphics card using just the onboard card which is ok but not good for games i play games all the time what does everyone think.
I've come across an interesting problem recently which I have tried to solve to no avail. I installed Windows 8 Developer Preview on a separate hard drive to my base Windows 7 install, and had an issue that arose where the OS suddenly decided that the drivers the keyboard was using were invalid. This is not the (current) problem, however it is important to mention. Now, to fix the Win 8 driver problem I went to the device manager, uninstalled the drivers, and then unplugged/plugged the keyboard back in. Since that rather bodged fix, the keyboard suddenly stopped working in Windows 7. It shows up in device manager as working, and I can set macros in the associated Razer software, although it does not perform its most basic function of typing. I have tried a similar tactic to that which I employed while fixing the problem with Windows 8, although my attempts have been fruitless. The keyboard in question is a Razer Lycosa, and the OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.
So my disk drive wasn't working so my husband installed a new driver, it fixed my disk drive, but now my mic (built in) stopped working. I really need it to work bc my husband has PCS-ed to Japan for 18 months, and skype is kind of out only option to talk.
First i want to apologize for my bad english since i'm italian So.. I just installed windows7 ultimate and suddenly the right audio channel is not working.
1) I want to make clear i've tried different cables and headphones/speakers (i'm a producer so i've got plenty..) and i can't hear the right channel at all.
2) I tried to download latest version of Realtek
3) On audio configuration when i press the configure button when i tried the right audio channel i could hear it very low (like the left channel is at least 10 times higher). that is the only situation in wich i can hear something coming out from my right speaker (and is like a 90w monitor.. so i think i'll hear it otherwise)
4) Since i just installed everything i tried to format and re-install, but i got no results
5) I tried the bit/hz thing but with ANY configuration i don't get any result
6) And now a very odd thing: since i got an external audio interface i tried even with that. right channel still not working.
I keep getting that error while playing Skyrim on my GTX 295. It's not just Skyrim, it happens with Crysis 2 VERY often, like every 20 seconds, it happens with Deus Ex, only once though, as it crashes to desktop afterwards. I have tried every possible driver combination, i updated to the latest beta driver and it still happens. I ran the program in XP compatibility, ran it in Iobit's Game Mode (which disables some services), and as Administrator mode. It still happens.I ran it windowed, and also ran it as Single GPU card (which reduced the frequency of this happening, but didn't stop it), ultimately, i ran out of ideas.Whenever i turn my computer off for 15 minutes or so, the game runs fine for 3 hours at least. My first thought was overheating, but i used EVGA Precision to measure the temperature, and it didn't go higher than 60 C when it crashed. It did, however, report a sudden spike of GPU- A usage to 100% when the error message appeared, but B remained constant.
i hv installed ati radeon 6670 2gb ddr3 it shows error smtimes display driver has stopped working and recover before it decolourises ma screen also smtimes it completely freezes ma computer and i have to restart it i also hv latest amd 11.2 drivers.
I use Intel Desktop Board d101gcc its graphic card is ATI reardon xpress 200 i instal window 7 32bit and this messege is appear ati display driver stopped working has been recoverd.
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x32 and when windows started up i got error something like "Display driver stopped working and has been succesfully recovered" and after that different color lines started appearing on monitor and computer freeze.i can only go to safe mode,i have geforce 9600 gt.
So I've been getting this annoying error "Display driver has stopped working and has recovered" which seems to be fairly common after searching for a fix for it. I'll spare you all the details and cut to the chase.
I've tried the GPU (evga 460gtx) on my friend's computer reproducing the crash-inducing environment (playing some games on max details) and it works flawlessly so I was able to remove 'faulty card' from my suspect list.
Back on my own PC I've tried every possible thing until one actually worked (underclocking my gpu from 850 to 800mhz).
My question is... does this point to a PSU fault? Everything in bios is set to default and the OS+drivers are clean install. I want to know why I have to underclock it, what the problem really is.
Every once in awhile my screen freezes, goes to black, and then recovers with a message that the display driver stopped working and has successfully recovered. I checked the event viewer and the Event ID is 4101. In the details it says "Display Diver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." My computer is a Sony Vaio VPCCW17FX and my display driver is a GR Force G210 M. This started happening after I downloaded an update from VAIO Update awhile back. I have tried to go on NVIDIA's website and manually download the driver

I've tried everything (including Tom's Hardware) Google has churned up but to no avail. This includes clean installs of my drivers, registry edits and even a reformat and fresh installation of Windows 7.I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, with the following (relevant) hardware:
I've played well over 350 hours of Battlefield 3 without a problem until I reformatted my computer for other, since resolved, issues. After the reformat It just wouldn't work. As previously mentioned I've tried all the common solutions for my issues, starting out assuming it was Battlefield that was causing them.I'm hoping it's not a hardware related issue, but I have a feeling that it might be. I've had this computer (custom built) for just over a year and a half.
my screen goes all black for a couple of seconds then when it returns the open tabs/sites are kinda inactive for another couple of seconds, or when i click on another window, it is highlighted but the content is of another site/tab. when this happens, there is usually a message at the bottom left of the screen that "Display driver has stopped working and recovered problems"
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD4870 x2 Running on windows 7 x64 ultimate
I was browsing away and my whole pc froze, with a strange little box around my cursor, although the sound was still working, I force shut down it and restarted and little message popped up saying the display driver has stopped working, I tried multiple things to solve this, to no avail, eventually it kept happening and it got so bad the computer would not start, i tried all of the "F" keys on startup and none worked, eventually i took it to a shop who wiped everything clean and it worked again.
Around 2 months down the line low and behold the same problem happened again, I found a solution and installed a program called driver robot, I used it and installed many outdated drivers, this seemed to fix the problem. For about 6 months, now it has happened again, my computer has now shut down and goes into a constant restart loop, as it is doing this the screens that show up are littered with dots and lines of many colours, I just need workaround on this, preferably without loosing all of my files.
I read a few forums about this issue but mine's different. It doesn't crash or display any error while gaming. It happens when i'm on the desktop exploring. If don't do anything it wont display the error, however, when i start to right click on desktop, it flickers and displays the error "Nvidia Windows Kernel Driver mode driver has stopped responding and recovered" something link that. This also happens when a window is active like when i'm on the Control Panel Window (don't know with other windows, haven't tried yet), It flickers every 10 - 30 secs and display the error. After a few hours of researching and troubleshooting i think finally fixed it by putting the "Peformance Settings to Best Performance". I don't know what caused this. It didnt happen to me before. My Peformance settings was always set to Best appearance until now. Anyone knows the fix to this error? I don't like the appearance set to Best Peformance, it looks like Windows 98 If you experience similar errors like mine, try setting your Performance settings to Best Peformance and post comments here if it works[CODE]
I'm going to be installing a new SSD into my laptop fairly soon (replacing the current HDD and putting the HDD in my optical drive). I am also upgrading from 7 Professional to 7 Enterprise, and with this comes many, many questions.First of all, how would I go about installing an OS onto a completely blank drive? I have experience with system partitioning and installing a second OS, but never onto a clean slate. Would I use a SATA-USB cable and install the OS through that, or would I have to burn the ISO onto a CD and install through my optical drive once I installed the SSD? Secondly, would I be able to use a system backup of my Professional system to restore my programs and files to the Enterprise filesystem? Or would I have to install everything from scratch?
First of all my computer specs listed are for my home laptop but my question is for my work PC which I recently upgraded to Windows 7.upgradede my work PC from XP to 7 a few weeks ago. Prior to the upgrade I ran the upgrade advisory tool and I knew I would have a few minor issues (this being one of them) but for the most part everything should be fine. My problem is that I cannot get my audio to work. I have an exact same machine still running XP and according to that, my audio is using a realtec ac 97' audio driver. I have obviously tried searching and downloading of windows 7 compatable drivers for that hardware. but nothing seems to work.
First of all every driver I have found and tried are self installing ".exe" driver files and cannot find anything where I can manually install through the "add new hardware wizard". The problem with the .exe files is that some of them say "this version is not supported my this version of windows" others freeze halfway through installation, and others seem like they have installed correctly giving me a prompt saying so and requiring me to restart, but once restarted, still nothing.I have also tried running each of the driver installations in "XP compatability mode" but still the same problems described above. I had a similar issue with my graphics driver and solved it by installing a legacy driver for it. I have tried the same for this audio driver, but like I stated before I only have .exe installation files and cannot manualy search for the driver to install the legacy driver. I do have the original driver (XP driver) that came with my computer and obviously tried that one, but notihng I have tried has worked for me.
This is my first build, and my mobo is an Asus P8Z68-V Pro and have a 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I've been having a lot problems since day 1 of using it, but the most annoying of all of them is that I can't get any sound from my computer.Connected my iPod to my monitor (Asus VE247h) the speakers work fine.Tried changing the audio settings in BIOS... nothing Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the realtek driver 3 times...same problem?
I recently updated my old comp from XP to WIN 7. After installing win 7 it auto installs HD audio.. HD audio drivers are ok but no sound. It says speakers /headphones are not plugged in . Reinstalled the drivers but still no response. What to do?
I just formatted my PC and installed Windows 7. I then installed Realtek HD audio driver from Intel website, and installation finished successfully. But the problem is that there is no sound. I go to Device Manager and it says This device is working properly.
my PC specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit CPU Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Motherboard: Model: DG31PR
I'm working on fixing a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It is a very years old and I reformatted it and tried Windows XP and Windows 7. I installed the Realtek audio drivers straight from the website (HD Audio Driver) but no luck. The Windows Update driver gives me a RTKHDAudio BSOD and I tried fixing that with some advice online to no avail.
