Constantly had problems with the sata 3 ports. Sometimes it works and I can see my two hd, other times I have to reboot, go into bios (make no changes), exit and it works again.I just purchased an OCZ 120G Vertex 3 SSDto use as a boot drive and can't get it to work on the sata 3 ports. I've read that the Marvell 9128 controller isn't the best but I would think It should at least recognize the drives.
View 3 Repliesi have a system which i got 1 month ago and it was stable and good till recently i started getting BSOD at random times , i tried to update my bios as most were saying but i couldnt because whenever i click on bios update utilite i get black screen! with no respond (i tried the updating from bios not windows Asus dont offer bios update from inside windows ) however . i noticed i get this bluescreen often when playing shogun 2 but in general i still get BSOD when doing other stuff at random times (ex: other games/work on office package) also sometimes when i play other games i either get BSOD or a sudden system lag where everything stops with a noisy sound coming from my speaker.
btw : in my BSOD i get the famous physical memory dump 100% line at the bottom
and i also updated my graphics drivers and rolled back to the old stable one but with no use
Yesterday I had a PC technician around to see why my PC was not booting-up properly and also to change my SSD to a larger SSD. As I am visually challenged I cannot do hardware upgrades etc, so I got a Techie guy in. We used Zinstall HDD by-the-way and I would highly recommend this application for such a job plus, it is extremely fast.Anyway, while he was diagnosing my boot-up issue he discovered I had a malfunctioning network card; while removing this, he noticed all the SATA settings were set to SATA 2.When he reset these to SATA 3, the PC would not start-up! When he set them again to SATA 2 there was no problem and it worked fine?
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy internet stops working for ~30 seconds multiple times a day. I am using Time Warner Cable with a Motorla SBG6580 modem and Asus RTN56U router and a wired connection. When it drops the internet access icon in the bottom right doesn't change (no yellow exclamation point) and sometimes when I run the troubleshoot internet connections it will come back with "the DNS server isn't responding. The other computers in my house don't seem to have the problem. My computer uses a wired connection and am running Windows 7.

My touchpad (built into the notebook) works fine on the login screen. As soon as I hit the login button it stops totally. Buttons and touchpad. Also my screensaver works before login (on login screen) but once logged in it won't auto start but will start under 'preview'. Windows 7 home premium 64.

I was looking at the Corsair Force 3 because of the read/write speeds. Upon doing more digging though it looks like id be better off running a drive on the SATA 2 ports.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI reformatted my computer multiple times, yet my computer seems to BSOD randomly.What happenes is that everything becomes unresponsive; cant alt+tab, cant ctrl+alt+del etc etc. everything freezes randomly... then boom, BSOD. its happened twice, with no apparent pattern.And then, when it restarts, it tries booting but then it goes into the boot selection screen and my SSD is nowhere to be found. I have to power off then power on again for it to boot up and log in.

I also have the "Cat Meow" problem on my computer AND it is NOT a screwed up cooling fan. It's interesting that when there is no answer people resort to a little humor. The sound(s) (including a lions roar), randomly occur. They are short and sweet, not really that annoying but curiosity persists as to their origination.

Even after restoring it to factory systems three times, I still get random BSODs. And I can never recreate how it happens. Sometimes it won't happen for a whole day, sometimes it will happen every other minute. Downloaded BlueScreen viewer and it gives me a bunch of information. Will upload that.

- DP45sg motherboard (which use IDT HD audio drivers)
- 4 gig corsair ram

audio and video drivers are updated to lastest version.I had no problem with XP, but when I installed Windows 7 (64bits), I started to get a wierd bug.At random times, the computer seems to freeze for about a second then get back to normal. Everything freezes, mouse, graphic and if there's sound playing, it seems like it's repeating the same sound at incredible speed until the lag ends. Error keeps showing up random times and interfering with some functions. It could be 1 min or 15 min after start up and does not look to be linked to any 1 program. when it happens the computer will slow down for a min then I just get the round circle icon and nothing works, I cant even do Ctr Alt Del. I have done AVG scan and Superantispyware and all was fine apart from tracking cookies. I have also taken most unused programs out of MSCONFIG startup and still no luck.I will try and run the SysInfo tool and Hijackthis on the computwer now and post the results (Im using a different computer to post this)When it starts to slow Task manager, if i have it open in time, shows nothing strange cpu between 0% and 20%

I bought my Ideapad Y580 from Lenovo in August. Around the middle of September, I started getting the BSOD after updating my Nvidia driver (which it prompted me to do) So I did the typical system restore and reset to the old driver. This did not fix the problem. So I called Lenovo, who determined my motherboard may have a problem and I sent the laptop in for repair. I get it back last night and STILL BSOD! This time for multiple things. I call Lenovo back and after it was determined that the pre-installed mcaffee was to blame. (drivers) So, It was uninstalled and windows update ran until completion with the tech on the phone. I thought all was well, but about 10 minutes after i get off the phone I get another BSOD for a completely different problem. I will post my last 3 or 4 bsod reports below.I will say this, there are NO third party programs on this computer right now. Everything install came from Lenovo as is. And yes, Lenovo replaced the motherboard when it was sent for repair.a brand new 1000+ dollar machine shouldn't be giving me these headaches. [code]This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIve recently built my own computer, however at random times when im on it, it will blue screen with a 0x0000004e error. I have Windows 7 professional 64 bit and ive also attached all the information including a few dumps from the times it has crashed. It has happened before a few times but i reinstalled the os so the dumps went with it. I will add more dumps each time it does blue screen. Also I downloaded BlueScreenViewer and it came back with a majority of the problems coming from a driver called "ntoskrnl". I have ran memtest for about 8 hours (With about 8 passes) and came back with no errors so i do believe it is a driver problem other than that, I have no clue what the problemI went on to run OCCT for 30 minutes, whilst it was testing it stopped and said there was an error in core 1. I then ran it again and it stopped again saying that there was an error in core 0. I have uploaded the graphs from both of these test for analysis. The minimum temperature ranged from about 26 - 29 degrees (Idle) and the maximum was ranged from 64 - 70 degrees.

Since a week ago, my computer has started to freeze at random times, which would lead to some random applications closing such as chrome or microsoft security control. I can still use my mouse and such, but the computer would be completely unresponsive. I have tried to do clean installs, with vista, and the problem still persists. I then used windows 7 to do a clean install and the problem still occurs. And at almost every startup the CHKDSK runs. I tried updating my graphics card, and still nothing has happened.
