I was running both IE and Firefox on my Windows 7 system. After I deleted Firefox, all my Desktop shortcuts have an Application Not Found error. Many of the fixes on CNET direct me to the XP forum. I have Windows 7.
I recently had a virus-esque program on my computer called win 7 home security 2011. It was a fake anti-virus program that was telling me I had viruses in an attempt to get me to buy their fake product. Anyway, the program is now history but I am encountering more problems that may or may not be a side effect of the virus. When I try to open an application I get an error giving the file location of the application followed by the message "Application not found". I can get around this and open the application by following the file location given by the error message and opening it. It then forces me to choose which program to open it with, in which case I need to tell it to open it with itself...
This is very irritating and in many cases makes opening applications close to impossible. When I'm choosing the program to open it with, it won't allow me to check the box telling it to set the program as the default. Is there any way to solve this issue short of completely re-installing windows 7?
I had a malware/spyware problem and used antisuperspyware to fix it but after deleting the detected files now I cannot open any .exe file directly when I try it gives me application not found error or which of the following programs u want to use to open the file ,I cannot even open IE or firefox ,what should I do?
i have an 03 jeep grand cheroke, last week my windows would only go up and down once in a while, now dont at all, also when your turn head lights and interior lights to auto on the interior lights will not go off after you start car or turn it off checked fuses, is there one i dont see somewhere?
I have some ISOs where whenever I mount them and select "Play DVD" in the autoplay menu, an Error box comes up with the message "E:/ Application not found" This also happens if I doubleclick on the DVD or right-click and select play.
However, If I open Windows Media Player and access the DVD though it, the movie plays fine.
I don't now what I did to cause this, maybe when I took out my video card (but I don't know if the problem popped up at the same time). It use to work perfectly fine.
I recently had a virus (windows 7 antivirus 2012) and I removed it safely. Now I am having problems opening programs on my system all around and I suspect it is a registry problem. I could open the programs via "Run as administrator" but that is a huge hassle (my user account has administrator privileges.) Another thing is when I try to open the program and it has the "select from one of the following to open" window, usually when i select a program to open it with there's a bottom check box for "always use selected..." but that is grayed out... not sure what is happening.I tried to create a new user and that new user can open programs fine.
The sound on my laptpp is not working and with further analysis I found out that my explorer.exe application is missing. I already installed a new sound driver and the problem persists. What to do now?
I have recently built a new computer and installed Windows 7 on it. At first the operating system could only see 1 of my 1TB hard drives. So I formatted the second to NTFS by using ubuntu live cd. Now my windows system can see the hard drive and I can open it with right mouse click--->open, and can write to it. When I try and double click the drive in My Computer it comes up with a pop up saying E: Application not found. Where I can set the double mouse click to open it?
Our office has an old program that we still need to use when upgrading our PC's to Windows 7. The program will run fine if you start a windows virtual PC and install and run it. However, based on the needs of our office, I need to be able to run Windows XP mode and simply have an icon for our users to click to take them to the application. If I install the program in windows XP mode, and then add a shortcut to the file under all users/start menu, a shortcut is placed in the appropriate place on the windows 7 machine and I can copy that shortcut ot the desktop. The program runs fine until you restart the computer. Once you restart the computer and double click the link on the windows 7 desktop to the program running in windows XP mode, it says:
Cannot start virtual application. The application is blocked from running as a virtual application.
I read some other posts saying to put a new shortcut in the all users/start menu folder. This works, but only until our users restart their computer. The next time the computer is up, the problem happens again. This is not an acceptable solution to have to create a new shortcut for each workstation each time the computer is restarted.
The error states:explorer.exe - application error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application. When I click OK, i just have a black screen. I can get the task manager going by hitting control, alt, delete. I've tried to start explorer.exe from the file menu, but get the same error.
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click on OK to terminate the application. The only option is to click ok. I am deathly afraid to turn off my computer because my brother recently did and that caused it to freeze at the blue HP startup screen, but thats another thread. I get this error whenever I launch anything. I can't even open up the task manager. I really need help. I don't currently have a way to back up my stuff either but I am working on it. By the way, I don't know that my brother was having the same error message as i was or if he was having any error messages. I use zone alarm full security suite if that helps at all, I don't know if it deleted a registry file or something.
I tried to replace 3 files in the system 32 folder, and must have made a mistake along the way leaving my laptop inaccessible once logged on. The three files were:
uxtheme.dll themeui.dll themeservice.dll
I received these error messaged when logged on:dwm.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application.explorer.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application. Can system restore revert back the files so it was like i never attempted the patch?
I don't what happened but all of a sudden a message box opens up on my windows 7 laptop and it says this " the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application" . I clicked ok but the error message box keeps returning back.If i remember properly, this happened when I tried installing some wallpaper.system seems to be working finw with all applications, but this message box is quite annoying.
And now I am so screwed. I can't even open services.msc, I can't install an update, I can't run updates and I can't re enable anything because I can't get into services to do it. Please don't say system restore because I disabled it.
I was just wondering if it is possible to reverse engineer a 32-bit application and recompile it as a 64-bit application. If so, would it still function?I don't know if talking about reverse engineering is acceptable in this forum or not. If not, my apologies. Also, I don't exactly know how "legal" it is or if it's against any EULAs.I'm a heavy browser user. I use Firefox Nightly and constantly have several tabs open. I also run several different applications at once and occasionally Skype. I'm CONSTANTLY hitting the 32-bit barrier for RAM (can't remember if it's 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 GB) and I still have more RAM on my system. I'm thinking the video quality on Skype starts going south when I run low/out on addressable memory since it's a 32-bit application
as usual I turned off my laptop and after a while a turned on again to use my laptop but it couldn't reach operating system and showed error : " OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND" !
I tried all instructions to solve the problem and finally run by windows start up CD to re-install new windows. this time I faced error: " No drivers were found. click load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. I've been using it for some time without problems, but this morning I was unable to get on the Internet. Yesterday I'd installed an update for ZoneAlarm which I thought was probably the problem, so I uninstalled in and downloaded and installed PC Tools Firewall Plus instead. no my computer will connect to the Internet OK, but whenever I try to open most programs, I get the following error:"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."The only two exceptions I've found are Microsoft Security Essentials and Internet Explorer which both work fine.
I'm trying to run a .bat file but when i start it cmd won't start and it gives the error message"The application was unable to start correctly (oxc0000142). Click OK to close the application."
So the other day I logged on to my computer to find all my downloads gone and not reach able and the folder has a huge error something like File osociated cant be found. I have system restored to the previous today and it didnt work What do I do?
I have had it for a while that i get random freezes and that i can move my mouse but not use most of the application or none anymore and i have to go to task manager and then it works again.I tried to install new windows 3 times and didnt help. I also bought new CPU, Mainbord, Memory and power supply also before that i changed my Hard Drive.
Based on the Windows 7 feature where you can press Windows Logo + Right (or left) Arrow key to maximize an application window to the right (or left) half of the screen, is there a way to maximise windows to either the top or bottom half of the screen? I know that stacking windows is one option, but that only works to the top quarter of a screen, and affects all other open windows, so that's no good unfortunately. The main app I want to use this with is putty so that I can see the full width of commands when using SSH for example.
I just installed winamp and i really hate it when i have to select Yes to "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer" when running winamp.I've set the exe to run as administrator for all users. I even tried running it in compatibility mode for XP (because you dont have this issue in XP, wishful thinking).I even set the persmissions to full access for SYSTEM/Administrator/Users in the security tab.Im also an admin on this computer.I know im not the only one that is pissed of when windows constantly asks you to run an application if you already selected to run it as admin.
I have 2 OS's XP and Win 7 on different partitions on the same HDD. Also I've read this note regarding the MVirtual PC: Windows XP Mode can only be installed on Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Ultimate and I am wondering, is there any application that can run an already installed XP from Win 7?
