Alert Says File Pathway Doesn't Exist, But It Does?
Oct 10, 2012
I have been successfully using the Shortcuts button from the customized dropdown. However, I am having one problem with a specific app, WinRAR. I have the app's shortcut successfully loaded into the button's dropdown. When executed I get an error message that says proper pathway can't be found...Doesn't exist! And yet, as you can see below, Windows Explorer shows that WinRAR does exits in C:Program Files (x86)FF Shortcuts
When I try to connect to my home network in Windows 7 RC 1 it says : The following error occured attempting to join the domain "My domain": The specified domain either doesn't exist or could not be contacted. What I do when I try to connect is I open up the start menu, then I right click computer and click properties. I then click change settings under computer name, domain, and network settings, I click change and type in the domain name and the error above comes up. Is this the right way to do this, or is there a different way to do this? I am also sure it is a samba network. If you need more details I can asked my dad.
Just restored my Windows 7 Premium 64-bit, using Norton Ghost 15 from a known good configoration. Norton Ghost gave me some error at the end (insert media? I can't remember) but the install seemed to work anyway. Now when I boot windows shows a menu."Windows 7""Windows Vista/Windows Server 2008/Windows 7"I can still boot but it's annoying. How do I get rid of it?I've tried "bootsec /fixboot" and "bootrec /fixboot" running CMD as admin, but it said command not found for both.
When I try to install a .msi file, it just... doesn't happen. I just, can't. It asks me what program I would like to use to open this/search the web for suggested programs.
Last week I hit an issue whereby I was unable to access the Internet wirelessly even though my laptop could see the router and had a good signal. I tried connecting up via an ethernet cable to no avail.
The issue seems to have started right after a Windows Update but I can't be 100% certain. If I do ipconfig /all I can see that DHCP is not enabled. I know the router is fine because my vista laptop can access wirelessly via the router fine. I tried doing some things I seen in the forum such as ipconfig /renew etc. but it said it couldn't contact the RPC server. I followed this up and was recommended to check the DHCP client service was started. It isn't even there. I was wondering if the update could have removed it.
Someone else who had reported the same issue on this forum was asked to do a system restore. I did this and the service is still not there. I am assuming that the non-existence of the DHCP client is the cause of my issues accessing the Internet.
When I try to install java because my browser says it's not installed it says it IS installed. So it asks me if I want to reinstall that's fine too. Then it gives me an error message saying that you can only do that if it's already installed.I can't find folders of it it's not in the add/remove programs list either.
I have a bit of a problem on my hands. I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and every time I try and compile and run the code that I wrote, MVS complains about not being able to write over the .exe file. This has been documented before, and there are fixes, but everything I've tried simply doesn't work. The primary fix is enabling the "Application Experience" service, but the problem is that for some reason that service isn't even listed among the others. I've tried to use that "regsvcr32" thing with the corresponding .dll, but that doesn't work either (it just keeps throwing these error messages in my face)
I'm currently doing an internship in an office, and we all use windows 7 enterprise. The management didn't give us the possibility to install any software, because we don't know the administrator password and we don't have installing privileges. We need some way to alert each other whenever a shared network file or folder has been changed, with a pop up message or a text log or an email...there's plenty of third party freeware software that does this, but we can't install anything Is there some way to do it with the built-in windows tools?
today I backed up my files when prompted by the little flag icon, they went on an external HDD. Updated everything. Went back to pc after tea, and when i switch on it can't boot windows.
1.. it asks me to put the cd in, when i do it goes through to the option to upgrade, repair or custom. If i try to custom install it tells me no drives were found.
2It won't let me upgrade either. So i put the disc for the motherboard etc in and ask it to repair it says IDE drive doesn't exist or ALL primary partitions are occupied
I open a program and it opens on the monitor. I think restore the size, rather than having in maximum size.
The program disappears, but is still in the task bar. I click on the program icon in the task bar to make it appear in the monitor, but the program shows to open on a non-existent monitor on the left of my monitor.
I have checked Display adapters in Device Manager and they are working ok. I have checked Control PanelDisplayChange Display Settings and all looks ok.
Everything has worked find until recently. No real changes, however I suspect Microsoft Windows 7 is doing some dirty tricks after I have made multiple complaints about their poor customer support on the phones.
My desktop started having icon issues, so I did a little reading up and saw that it could help by deleting the iconcache.db file. I did so, and now my icons are completely gone. I can still see the text under the icons and can still access the programs, however they are running slower than normal. Also, on a related note, nothing happens when I click the start menu button.I am running Windows 7 Home Pro 64 bit. I have tried all the fixes to no avail, even launched in safe mode.
I changed computers and so I had to download new drivers for my printer as well as my Powershot Pro1 which included ZoomBrowser. For RAW shots, in order to manipulate the photo, it has to be converted. No problem before. Now, there is no link to do the conversion under Edit, which is where it was and where I found info on line where it should be.
My computer claims a file does not exist when I try to uninstall an unwanted program from my computer. How do I change this, so that I can uninstall an unwanted program?
Running Windows 7 (6.1, SP1, 64-bit).Previously, I was using WinXP file search in classic mode. Predictable, reliable results.I'm finding Windows 7 file searching to be unpredictable at best.I have dozens files of the form xName-<date>, where x is my first initial,Name is my last name, and <date> is the file date (e.g. - "mSmithCV-7jan09.doc").When I use the Windows 7 search to find "name:smith", no files are returned.Nor will "name:*smith*" return any files. The search does return the files if I specify "name:mSmith" (i.e. - the beginning of the filename),but I have no confidence that the search is returning ALL of the files.
Is there a classic search mode? Or a simple, cost-effective third-party file search utility? Or even a way to get Windows 7 to find all files whose filename contains (but does not begin with) a specified string?[I find Windows 7 to be better than XP in most respects, but I really can't believe that this search functionality made it out the door.
i use BitLord to download random stuff anyways the Downloads Folder Shows up like this : Now when i open Nero up it shows this Weird thing is if i hover over the folder from normal window it says the Downloads folder is only 800mb (as it is only showing me one item) yet from Nero it says the folder is over 9 Gigs. Im set as Owner of the folder and i have all permissions set for me however i am still unable to see these files outside of nero and i don't know why. When i go and try to change the permissions on the folders (the locked ones) windows says the files/folders doesn't exist...
I tried to save a file and got an error on saving it, so I quit the program. The file appears as if it was never saved and doesn't show up in directory listing (GUI or cmd.exe).
However, if I try to rename any other file to that filename, it says "Cannot rename file, because file exists" and appends a number to the end. I cannot remove the number. This happens both in the GUI and cmd.exe as well.
So, basically cmd.exe del says the file does not exist, but ren says a duplicate file name exists....
I have no idea how to delete that "ghost" of a file so I can actually use the filename. I checked folder options and it's not a hidden file or anything like that - it just (doesn't) exist, but it does?
I was wondering why the "ftype" command doesn't display all file types associated with file extensions. For example if I execute "assoc", some of the output is
.txt=txtfile ... .RDP=RDP.File When I execute the "ftype" I find an entry for "txtfile" as per below but not for "RDP".file txtfile=%SystemRoot%system32NOTEPAD.EXE %1
Note: .RDP files are remote desktop files and are opened with %windir%system32mstsc.exe
I have 2gb of ram. and every time i go to IE, fire fox, i get this warning saying low memory. i dont know how to disable that warning. everytime it comes up it crash and close all the pages. Any website I try to go to, an alert pops up saying that it contains viruses and it recommends that I download "Win 7 Home Security" or something like it. Alerts also pop up telling me of spyware and other things my computer are being attacked by, and it again prompts me to purchase "Win 7 Home Security" I'm pretty sure this Win 7 thing is a virus. My friend told me he had it before and that he had to wipe his PC clean. Maybe I need to do that, but I don't know how. Do I need to wipe my PC completely clean? How would I go about doing that?
I am recieving a ridiculous amount of alert messages, and I have no idea what they are! There is no bubble in the bottom right corner, or anything popping up. I have no idea why these alert messages are occuring so frequently, but I would love for them to STOP.
I would like to change the default program for .pdf from TeXworks to foxit reader, but the file extension .pdf doesn't show upfoxit also doesn't show up in the set default programsi can "open with" foxit and texworks, i would just like to quickly be able to open .pdfs with a double click
For some reason, I am getting an annoying ALERT sound every few seconds without any popups or anything to explain why. What is it?I tried to look up a Fault Log to see what program might be triggering the sound but I can't find a Fault Log in Windows 7.I am using the full retail release of Windows 7 Ultimate. Purchased with cold hard cash
I use EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition on windows 7 sp1.I have resized several times my different partions with no trouble. But now i had increased one of my drives and now i can t acces and open it because of this error :http://up.iranblog.com/images/q3butas4t6yrog2ae94.png, how can i with out formatting it, resolve the problem ?
I have been having an issue with the desktop alert not working in windows 7. I have come across 1 or 2 other people with similar issues, but no solutions. I have created separate folders for my mail to be routed to based on the account. Therefore, I do not get the desktop alert for the inbox, so I added that as an option to each rule. I have also added an audio file to be played. The issue is that the desktop alert window fails to show up after outlook has been on for a while.
The sound alert will play fine always. Within the email settings, the desktop alert preview button also fails to display anything. Sometimes I am able to get it to work once or twice by restarting outlook, but to do that I have to use the task manager to exit the program because just shutting down leaves OUTLOOK.EXE running. Once I first start it back up, it will close down correctly and immediately, and it will display the alerts.
I have not been able to narrow it down to what causes it to stop displaying alerts, (i.e. is it a time frame that the program has been open, a certain account, etc...). It will just stop displaying them, at which point the preview button doesn't work anymore, and the closing of outlook doesn't operate correctly. I have installed all updates to outlook based on the windows update site.
I will mention that I never had this issue in XP. Also, outlook used to always leave outlook.exe running when closed in XP, but that one of microsoft's recent updates fixed that. For some reason this just appears to happen in 7. I never had vista, so I have no info on that OS.
I use EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition on windows 7 sp1. I have resized several times my different partions with no trouble. But now I had increased one of my drives and now i can t acces and open it because of this error : [URL]. I can't format it because of the data in it and with any possible access to the drive, I have not enough space on my hard drive to copy data to another drive.
Does any know of any free Desktop Alert type of programs. All i basically want to be able to do is send a popup message to all users/workstations currently logged on. I realise that it should be possible with NET SEND / MSG commands but they obviously need the service turned on but i dont want to do that, plus i hear doing to all workstations doesnt work so well. When we use to use the intY Exoserver for a gateway this provided a popup box message broadcast as part of the client software but we do not use this anymore but miss that ability.I have search the web and sourceforge but not sure im searching for the right terms to find a free one.
File|Open and File|Save As does not work at all for any application. Basically nothing happens, the dialog never opens an in my mail is not possible to upload files.. nothing, the common dialog to handle files never opens. I tried to type sfc/scannow in DOS mode (cmd). But didnt work because it said that I must be the administrator but the problem is that I am the administrator (I am the only user and register as admin).
I've noticed that, when I put my computer to sleep and wake it back up, if I have a file explorer window open with a large list of files (several pages of family pictures in a detailed list view), the window defaults to the first (top) file in the list -- if I am clicking through pictures several pages down, and then sleep/wake the computer, while the last file I clicked remains highlighted, I have to scroll all the way down to find it again.
