View 1 RepliesMy Samsung series 3 laptop has been sending out popup messages telling me I need a bios update, I go to the Samsung software update site and this bios update has been failing, I have made several calls and chats to techs at Samsung who tell me to do what I have already done, they tell to ask for tier 2 tech, who can go in my computer and fix it , When I finally got a tier 2 tech, they told me the same thing, I told him what I had been told about him and what he could do, He said, is it working , I said yes, but settings on computer change on their own, like wifi turns itself on and that concerns me. Anyway, He said that it didn't need a bios update, even the Samsung website said this computer needed a bios update. I posted this on hardware, firmware concerns, and they told me to post here, I was going to go to a site ,that had a download that checked drivers,

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded and installed the "System Update Readiness Tool".
Now how do I run it. I CANNOT find it in "All Program". How the heck do I run it?
Have an HP G70-463CL that refuses to install some updates.Discovered SP 1 has not been made available or installed. Tried the manual install of SP 1 from the MS website and it fails and tells me to "Check for Update Readiness Tool" Downloaded that tool and attempted to execute it and it also fails. The readiness tool reports "Installed encountered an error: 0x8007000d, The data is invalid".The Laptop originally came with Vista and later a Win 7 x64 DVD was supplied, and was upgraded about a year ago. We noticed there was two C++ Security updates that have been trying to update everytime the PC is turned off since JUNE 2011.how I can get the readiness tool to work? If I cannot make the tool work I know I have no chance of installing 46 missing secuity updates.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled windows 7 a few weeks ago and everything went well and its running really fast and never crashes or anything but SP1 just will not ever install. I tried disabiling my antivirus, installing it without any other updates, downloading it off the Microsoft site and installing it manually, going into troubleshooting in the control panel for the updates and it did some checks and said it repaired some update stuff but it did nothing and I tried the update readiness tool. It installed and did a scan and said it fixed some stuff but it didn't fix my problem. Here is the log from the update readiness tool. I searched around on how to understand the log but couldn't really find much so hopefully one of you can help. I did download and copy the KB2633952.msu file into the CheckSUR directly like it says on the Microsoft site to fix the unavailable repair files. [code]
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Windows Update is failing. For whatever reason, my Vaio cannot install Windows 7 SP1. The update fails and it returns variations of unknown error or errors whose numbers are nowhere to be found when I search. (I've tried it 7 times, got 5 5 error numbers and 2 unknown errors.).Right now, I'm following the troubleshooting steps at microsoft.com. It had me run the Windows Update troubleshooter, which claimed to make changes so the update would install. It didn't install.
The site claims that it could take "several minutes" and to not close the installer "even if the progress bar appears to stop, don't cancel the installation." Fine, I haven't. But the progress bar hasn't moved. As in, there's no green in the bar at all. It has been running for over two hours. I know I got the right file; I checked my Windows 7 Version before I downloaded.
It's just hanging at "Installing Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) (update 1 of 1)" How long do I wait? Have any of you encountered this? What do I do nextI'm technically adept enough to follow directions - but that's where my computer expertise ends. When I searched the forums (maybe I didn't search well enough?) I didn't find this problem, but others mentioning similar issues with the SP1 update and other people successfully running the updater.
Reading around, it seems like everyone seems to have issues getting updates to install. This is on a freshly installed copy of 7 Pro x64 SP1.And here it fails later (it only tries to install 3 updates. the Update readiness tool spends awhile using a single core of my computer to install only to fail)DIT: UPDATE: after trying over and over, looks like the update readiness tool finally installed! I didn't change anything... really strange.

On HP's advice, I just updated the BIOS on my laptop. It's currently stuck at Verifying New Bios Image, and it's at 100% - It's been stuck that way for a half-hour plus.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I updated my bios today from 1.7 to 1.A. When the system restarted it goes to Windows 7 with a black screen that says "C: windows system 32configsystemprofiledesktop Refers to a location that is unavailable". From here I have all of the basic buttons but I cannot access anything. I get an error even trying to run regedit. My system ran fine before the bios update. The system setup is as follows: 50GB SSD with Windows 7 installed only..4x 500GB HDD in Raid0 with all user profiles and default save locations set to it.
2x External drives (not to important here just run Ubuntu and a spare drive)When I set the system up I changed all of the registry settings so that windows automatically saved everything to the Raid0 drive. Everything is still on the drive as it has been unchanged but Windows fails to find the desktop settings now. When I looked in the system profile folder there was no "desktop" folder there. I manually created one and got some of my shortcuts on the desktop back but everything is still missing. At system launch I edited all registry settings to point to drive D: as the primary. Maybe something changed there?

Attached you find my BSOD file (the health report is in Dutch, but hopefully you can manage).

View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst off I am running Win 7 on a primary SSD, and have 2 1TB HDD in RAID 1 for storage. I have been running this setup fine for a while now. I recently updated my BIOS (P8P67) using the EZ Flash utility from USB per the following steps:
-Restore defaults
-Flash new BIOS
-Restore defaults
-Reset SATA mode to RAID
Everything went fine, and I verified that my BIOS was seeing the 2 HDD as 1 volume. The Intel RAID controller shows the mirrored volume and 2 drives on bootup, all fine. However, when I get into windows, the RAID volume is not listed in the Intel RST software, device manager or disk management.
I currently have an ASUS K53E that I've put a 60GB SSD into. I recently had to send out the laptop for service with ASUS, but I swapped the SSD for the original drive at that time (to save the chance they may re-format the drive). In any case, their repair apparently included a BIOS update... When I got the computer back, I naturally swapped the SSD back into the computer. Since then I've had numerous issues, the most prominent being that WLE stopped working (Every time I load Messenger it inexplicably stops working), and when I attempt to un-install it it will have a problem and abort the removal. With skype, I installed it fine, but it will launch, have a problem, then close! This is extremely frustrating..So really, my first thought is that there is a BIOS-update related issue, because the BIOS was flashed with the other drive in the laptop, and the installation on the SSD was installed/configured before the BIOS flash.Am I looking at a clean install of windows? Or could I get away with just a repair? I'd really prefer not to reinstall if I don't have to (Getting the OEM install on the SSD was hard enough in the first place).
View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 works fine, except some things. But I wanted to reinstall it after I updated my BIOS from 1.1 to 1.8.
After it loads my working install dvd, it gives me BSOD with stop code 124
Its the same problem he has: windows 7 crash on install bsod stop 0×00000124 - Windows 7 Forums
But i'm in another situation.
Maybe I could downgrade my BIOS, but I don't know how. Or maybe ill just have to change a BIOS setting.
Week ago I bought new SSD drive. (OCZ Agility 3, 2.15 firmware) I made fresh install of OS, newest drivers etc. SSD and my system was working very well but I was disapointed to my SSD-benchmark results. Well I tried to increase performance by updating my motherboard bios. Bios update succeed but it didnt really increase performance of my ssd, new bios reduced writing performance notable. (MOBO = Asus m4a87td/usb, bios v.2001) AHCI is on.
What with that 103424? Shouldnt it be 1024? Previous score over 400 points, now just 300. (disappeared in picture)
Also noticed another problem. I can't boot my comp if I have external drive plugged in. I just can't change my 1st device boot to agility drive in bios because it's not in the list of boot devices. Well I unplug external drive and its working. Also thought that bios update would fix it but it didnt.
