After Reinstalling Sata Drivers In Windows 7 Os Won't Boot Again
Apr 16, 2012
I recently build a new system with win7 64bit. Everything went well untill I exchanged a blue ray drive with a dvdwriter (1 day later). Win7 recognized the drive in device manager but did not assign a drive letter nor would the drive open (function). After trying everything I can think of I decided to reinstall the sata drivers from the asus websitebecause I wasn't able to use the motherboard disk with the DVD drive for installation) the system restarted and never booted back up. The bios recognize the ssd as 1st boot but win7 does not boot back up. As a matter of fact the hd LED doesnt flash anymore like it did when the system was working. I also could not use 5 USB ports (i was going to reinstall the drivers after the sata drivers) from the beginning of win7 install and Bluetooth comport not available. Did I screw up the bios? (bios flash with USB?)

Quick summary: SATA Controllers on motherboard are not working. Ordered and installed a PCI-E SATA Controller Card. Connected Hard Drive & DVD Drive to new card ports. Upon attempting to boot installed windows 7, it spontaneously restarts before loading. It seems that I need to get the Controller Card's drivers installed. i try startup repair mode, and I can load the driver and see the Windows 7 installation after that, but then I don't know how to permanantly add the drivers for this installation.

I did a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate I was really just uping it to the 64bit beause I accidentally installed the 32 bit. So after doing all of this Windows 7 is working fine however upon boot up where normally I would have the option to choose which OS I wanted to start up, it just goes straight to windows instead of giving me an option. I had the latest version of Ubuntu, and I know that when I installed widows I put it on the right partition of my C: drive. Do I need to know reinstall Ubuntu as well or is there some kind of setting I have to change to get it to show me the OS selecting screen.

Windows 7 Home Premium X64 keeps re-installing the same existing USB drivers every time I plug in an USB device. This means every time I plug in my Wireless mouse, my printer, scanner, external hard drive... and so on I have to wait minutes before I can start using the device. Also, it does not just re-install the drivers from the hard disk, it does a lengthy check via windows update before it installs anything.

Now the laptop wont boot into Windows. How do I fix this? I went to "repair my computer" then went to "reinstall windows while keeping my old files". Little did I know that this laptop had a broken power jack and was running off of battery. The computer shut down on stage 4/5. I have no CDs and used the option within the partition to reinstall. How do I reinstall windows now and keep my files after this... ? Did I lose all my files?
When I press f8 now to go to "Repair my Computer" it goes to Windows Boot Manager and says that windows has failed to start... Insert windows installation disk... Boot failed - required disk is inaccessible.

I have an HP desktop computer that I just bought an SSD for. I made the "recovery media" disks, I'm assuming that's the OS backed up? I want to make the SSD my boot drive. I put in the disks and unplugged the HDD and plugged in the SSD and I'm at a screen called "Recovery Manager". Do I do the "factory reset" to install the OS on this SSD?

i decided that there are just too many problems with Windows 7-64bit at the moment on my system and I am going to reinstall it. I am putting most of my files onto a backup external, including music and steam games, and whatever save game files I can find. I'm trying to find what drivers I might need to put onto the external to install after. I have the graphics drivers; what other ones should I grab?

I just got my new Vantec IDE/SATA to 2.0 USB Adapter installed. I use it on my laptop to give me extra storage space.. or plan to.. this drive already has a good copy of Win 7 installed and i'd like to boot into it from the USB adapter so it will be easier for me to find out what i need to back up.
I did try to boot from USB and windows does start to load then crashes.. I don't know if it's due to the Vantec unit or if I just need to repair the MBR on the drive. The drive has been sitting in a safe place for about 8 months not being used.

I just went from XP to a new Dell Windows 7. I have a multi-function printer that used CD drivers on XP, but with Windows 7, I had to install the printer with Windows Update and a scan utility from the manufacturer's web site. All of a sudden after a month, I can't scan, so I want to uninstall/reinstall the printer. How do I do this when it was installed with Windows Update? I see a list of drivers in the DriverStore/FileRepository folder. Do I delete those so Windows Update can reinstall them, or were they already there when I bought the computer?

I have a Toshiba laptop that came with a preinstalled copy of Windows-7 (64 bit) version purchased in July 2010. No setup disk came with the laptop, but there is a "Toshiba recovery media creator" utility. Now, I want to format my laptop, and here I have few queries regarding this:
[1] What is the better option for formatting my drive? Should I use the Toshiba media-creator or install a clean version of Windows-7 from an ISO download (am I allowed to do that? If so, what is a good site to download?) There is a "sticker-certificate" on the bottom of my laptop with a product-key. Will it work with the new install?
[2] Do I have the option of installing a 32-bit version of Windows-7 instead of 64-bit with the above license? The reason is that most applications I use are 32-bit and hence a 32-bit OS is better suited for me. But does the license allow me to do that?
[3] (The tricky part) - Since I have a good 320GB HDD, I want to dual-boot by creating two partitions - with a linux distribution (Ubuntu/openSuse) running on the second partition? Assuming I don't have the option of clean-install, will I be able to create the extra partition for linux using the Toshiba utility?

I've recently purchased two 30GB SSDs which I have set up in a RAID 0 array and I have installed Windows onto these drives. I have a second, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Green HDD that I have used to put my user profiles and additional programs/games on as it wouldn't fit on the SSD.Everything was fine for a few days after installation. Then this morning I rebooted the computer and it just stalled on the flashing cursor (underscore) in the top left corner of the screen. I did the basic fixes (Windows repair, checking RAM) and nothing worked. Then I thought that I should try disconnecting all but the SSD with the OS on it. SUCCESS! It booted to Windows but couldn't find any programs/user data so it created a new "profile". I shutdown the computer and tried reconnecting just the data hard drive.I have two additional hard drives (used for backups) that don't affect anything at all when I plug them in.Does anybody know what could be the problem? I'm at a loss and I need the computer

After I had to reinstall my Windows 7 OS and the Samsung drivers onto a new internal hard drive, my screen images appear to be somewhat stretched sideways from normal. I right-clicked the desktop screen and was given only two screen resolutions to pick from, thinking perhaps was the problem, but neither option changed my problem.

I really want to go back to a dual install (Windows 7-64 Pro and Windows XP) but I want to add XP to Windows 7 which is already loaded. I know how to load Sata drivers when loading XP first (have drivers on CD) but after looking at the tutorial it mentions adding Sata drivers to XP using 3.5 disk. I do not have 3.5 drive. HP Pavilion a6130n/3 internal 1TB drives. XP and 7 will be on separate hard drives.

I need to move the sata connection for my drive "D" on the motherboard, however after moving it Windows 7 won't boot.
Gateway LX6820, 8GB Ram Windows 7 HOMEPREMIUM 64 bit Drive "C"- Intel X25V SATA SSD 40GB, has 200MB System Partiton for MBR and the rest is for the OS Drive "D"- WD Raptor SATA 150GB, has User folders, Program Data, and Programs installed
I have a fresh install of Windows 7 HOMEPREMIUM 64 bit that was done with drive "D" in one of the hotswap bays. All my tweaks, and settings changes are done and Windows operates with no problems. Now I wan't to move the drive to an internal bay. The set up and install was done using sata 4 on the motherboard but due to cable routing I need to use sata 2 for the move.
After the physical move and cable change Windows sees the Raptor as drive "E" not "D", it can't access the user profile and loads a default profile instead. This default profile won't allow access to disk management so I can change the drive letter. I have tried using Diskpart to reassign the drive letters but when I boot into Windows it changes it back to "E" again (must be due to the sata port 2 being assign "E" in an earlier configuration?). I tried using Windows repair but it changes the boot sector to"C", the "C" drive to "D" and the Raptor to "E", had to change the cables to the original locations and do a system restore to fix that one.

Having issues with RAID0 array being detected by Windows7 Ultimate x64 as SCSI. Apparently these drivers are the 'default' drivers that install when the RAID array is initialized. There is no option at this point to install other drivers instead.Using DeviceManager, there is an option to 'update drivers', and regardless of the method chosen, even selecting the file for a previously-downloaded set of drivers, Windows7 always comes back with a message of "Windows has determined that the best drivers for your system are already installed". Considering that SCSI drivers are the OLDEST ones out there, and actual SCSI devices are becoming rarer and rarer, how is it that these drivers cannot be replaced with more current and more applicable drivers?
