May 5, 2011When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

Now its getting slower again.So I want to fully reinstall the software from scratch. I do not have an recovery disk from the binning. Aug 4, 2012i recently was using a product called ptedit32. In which i was trying to unhide my pq service to see what was in there. So i changed its boot from hidden to active.(0C was changed to 07) with the other three partitions being 07 as well. This has turned out bad for me now. It seems there is a mbr that is not being recognized. I turn the acer 0ne aspire d255e on and the machine goes to a screen that say can't load windows due to recent hardware or software changes.Status: 0xc0000225It also ask to have the installation disk inserted, of which there is'nt one and the computer doesn't have a dvd/cd drive anyway. It was all on the pq service, which is the hidden partition. I've tried flashing the acer pc as well from usb. and can't get that to work.

Jun 8, 2012Most desktop monitors, when inactive for periods of time(usually preset in o.s. or altered for individual tastes) saves electricity by powering down the monitor, and let it "sleep", but any programs running on the cpu, continue on, unabated. But with these Acer Aspire All-in-one compters are different, i may be listening to an internet radio station, and even though it's not a computer program running,,after a time of inactivity of my manually working (via my keyboard) or something like that, the screen goes black and it kills the internet connection to the internet radio i am listening to. Yes,,if that happens,,i only have to jiggle or move my mouse to turn the screen back on, but is a real pain to have to continually jar the mouse to keep the radio on. Any ideas on how to avoid this black screen of killing my internet radio, and downloads??or anything going on ,while the screen is active?

Mar 18, 2011I am working with backing up my computer and I am dazzled by all the dvd R and RW and minus and plus etc. My dvd drive is listed like this: DVD +or - RW (+ or - DL)/DVD Ram. I am probably on the wrong board but I couldn't get on the "internal hardware" I have no idea what all this means. All I know is that DVD+RW seems to work. Sep 2, 2011I have an ACER One (Model A0531h) netbook. I have now tried several times to recovery it to factory settings using the built in recovery partition. I access this recovery partition by using Alt-f10 during boot. The recovery runs fine up until 99% where it 'sticks'.. for days..The application running the recovery is Acer eRecovery Manager v7.5.15. I have also recovering using the recovery DVD's which I burned. They seem to go through the process but then when I restart the system I get a black screen complaining about missing files. I am then instructed to run recovery...This is driving me crazy. I have also reseated the RAM but dont want to have to strip of the cover to reseat hard drive. I can however hear it running and I have also used Active@boot to reformat the C drive. The recovery partition has not been touched and is not damaged. It runs perfectly up to 99%.

Aug 22, 2012I am using an Acer Aspire 5517, running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1). While using it, every few minutes the system will hang. It becomes completely unresponsive and the cursor turns into a waiting icon (spinning circle) for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes before it becomes responsive again. It doesn't seem to matter what programs are running, I've seen it happen after a reboot while just using Windows Explorer. Norton Antivirus scans are clean. I also ran Malware Bytes, which cleaned up a few items but the problems persist. I'm not sure if there is other malware on the computer.

Nov 4, 2009I have an Acer Aspire 6920 with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and can not find the drivers (Even from Acer Website and Windows Update) For the following:
-Sim Card Reader
-Fingerprint Reader (and software)
-Media Control (Seems to work, but the volume does not follow the pad properly)
I have been on the Phone with Acer Support due to a battery problem (the battery is not charging) and they say it's due to Windows 7, as opposed to the battery being dead (I just received my laptop back from Acer repair due to the motherboard being dead, who knows how the handled the laptop, I obtainned it back with several deep dinks which where not there when it was shipped) so maybe I need the right driver for it to.
Acer wants me to reinstall their Vista OEM - not going to happen.

Jan 7, 2010i just upgraded and have a few issues. altogether windows 7 is fine but in devices and printers ive got CRD-PC with an exclamation Mark under devices and A310 under unspecified. i have installed all the drivers from the acer website. then i also have some usage related issue, i know probably the wrong forum but i dont know where to put them plus dont wanna make a 2nd thread.
whenever i restart, i have to reselect VLC as default program to open avi's, it defaults to winamp. happens with all media files, but strangely not with nfo's (havnt tried any other files yet that i set to non default manually).
also, my toolbars disappear after evry restart. which is annoying cause i always move it so i have an XP style quickstart panel.

I have already installed my copy of windows XP Home on my own identical netbook, which runs fairly well, but not great. Mar 3, 2011i have a practically brand new ACER ASPIRE 4553 (1 month old, max) and I was experiencing some reboot failures and also having problems turning the computer on, how's that? Well, for example when rebooting the computer it did not turn back on (kept a black screen, no sounds, in other words wasn't booting). So I manually turned it off by holding down the power button and then back on, sometimes it took a couple of tries to make it work but usually that did the job.
The same logic goes for powering it on form the start.. Now, at this moment the computer won't boot up at any means, not that I know of.I noticed that the HDD light isn't blinking at all, So I though that maybe for some reason the computer could not access the HDD, the other LED indicators (< is that correct?!) aren't blinking either, actually they blink just one time when I hit the power button and then stop. The power button stays on.So I did some research and found that it could be a BIOS problem, the solution I found is for the Acer Aspire One notebook, therefore I couldn't figure out a way to make that work on the 4553, didn't even try 'cause I know how risky messing with the BIOS is.
Acer Aspire 4730z HDD Failure
Mar 15, 2011I have this Acer Aspire 4730z/vista OS. Since my hdd soon ganna crash. I bought a new HDD for upgrade (toshiba 320) and change the OS at the same time from Vista to Windows 7 home premium. The problem is it doesn't recognized the new Hdd (toshiba 320) that I bought, I also try western digial HDD my spare, but still the unit doesnt detect the hdd. But when I put back the original HDD (Hitachi 250) of Acer Aspire 4730z, it can detect the HDD. Why is that? What should I do?

ATI mobilty 4570 radeon twin graphcs job
£12.78 buys two discs to get me from vista 32 home premium to windows 7 home premium 32bit
1 upgrade disc and 1 windows 7 media disc
I decide to go with a clean install so i changed boot sequence in bios to cd first, then booted from the windows 7 media disc.
option 2 custom install i managed to delete partitions which made my restore discs effectivley scrap.
realizing there was no way back, i had to instal windows 7
all went silky smooth untill the device radeon 4000 series had code 10 cannot start
i let windows 7 update this device - rebooted...the screen never came back...the machine was ON,signal up and everything but no raster, just a mouse curser.
hmm... rebooted in safe mode, rolled back driver....screen ok but still the graphics 4570 is code 10 and cannot start.
so i inserted the acer upgrade dvd
and ran all EXCEPT the amd puma driver
rebooted
all ok
then i ran the puma driver, rebooted and the screen never came on...backlighting but no picture.
Holding down the power button i just turned it off, rebooted, pressed f7 or 8 whatever key for safe mode and chose
ENABLE LOW-RESOLUTION VIDEO (640x480)
enter...
starting windows...4/3 aspect
right click - screen resolution
change to 1600 x 900 (recommended)
no more errors
Install On Acer Aspire 6920
Dec 18, 2009I have a problem installing Windows 7. I have Acer Aspire 6920 with Windows Vista. I've tried to update Vista to 7 or just format the the whole drive and install a fresh copy but same problem. Everything from the installation is perfect but after this just before the start window to load i get this screen Imageshack - acer . It says that i need recovery and i only can click Exit. If i put my Acer Recover CD, it automatic installs Vista. I am so pissed off. I can't believe i can only run Vista on this Acer ?
