my mouse shows the hourglass off and on all the time , it also sticks in an up and down movement only,( sometimes), and it also jumps around and mixes up the typing. Is this a faulty mousepad or something else?

We do have Kaspersky Anti-virus 2013 installed as well.I have not installed or downloaded anything recently either Could it be a misconfiguration somewhere or maybe parasites ? View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mother in law has an acer aspire 5732Z, yesterday she was fiddling with the touch pad sensitivity and suddenly her screen went black. Each time she tries restarting, she gets the windows 7 startup screen, but just before getting to the log in screen, the screen goes black. The mouse pointer is still on the screen and she can hear that the computer is still on. But besides that, nothing can make it start up properly.I have tried talking her through safe mode startup, but that didn't do anything. She has pulled out the battery and restarted, which does nothing either.

I have windows 7 and when I go to start the laptop up it shows the HP screen then goes to the windows screen like its loading but then goes back to the hp logo and is stuck. I ran a HDD test and memory test those came back good. I tried to go into safe mode it acts like it loading then shows a blank screen. I try to do a system recovery and system restore the screen stays blank. I also took the battery out and press the power button down but that hasn't work. It's no longer under warrenty.

View 4 Replies View RelatedLaptop is connected to wifi but still shows yellow star and grey bars? Title says it all. I've reinstall the drivers, changed the settings in the registry editor that someone on another forum suggested, delete all the wifi accounts and rebooted the computer. No errors in device manager, the Windows wifi connection software is the only one running. Internet is working but it wont allow me to setup a vpn. I've rebooted everything.
I just noticed that no matter what wireless network I connect to it still does this. Also, I connected to a wireless network that this laptop never connects to and it never asks what kind of network it is. It just sets it as a public network. My other laptop connects to both fine.
I had windows vista 32 bit earlier. Then I got windows 7 professional upgrade in trial period. I didn't notice how it happened. Of course it must be my mistake. Now when i boot from windows 7 it shows 64 bit and in vista it shows 32 bit. The system asks before booting which one to choose. It's today only that I have installed but I am not facing any problem as such except that i need a product key within 30 days. Should i leave as it is or uninstall vista somehow. Would i be able to reboot my system using the 32 bit vista CD?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSomeone spilled a liquid on my wife's laptop damaging the keyboard and internals. It cannot boot but I need to get the files from the HD. I bought one of those USB to laptop HD cables, removed the HD and hooked the cable to my desktop Windows 7 PC. The drive came up as "System Reserved" with only the boot sector folders visible. I hooked it to an XP PC and autoplay showed all the folders but I couldn't see them in "Computer." I tried backing everything up to a DVD but it failed for some reason. This somehow may have damaged the drive.The drive now appears and disappears in device manager. When it's listed, it shows as working properly but no longer shows up in Computer or Disk Management. Any chance of getting files off of the laptop HD?

Followed by some more text, and then it asks how I would like to start windows up, in safe mode(s), last known good configuration, or start windows normally.
So I just select �Start Windows Normally� and it started to boot up, with the Microsoft Windows 7 loading screen. Then KABLAM! The black screen with the different options popped up AGAIN. I then tried every single other boot option, all the safe modes, everything, and every time it would show that black screen with the different boot options(that don't work). So I hit F8 and tried all the options in there, reboot, debugging mode, all of them, they all did the same thing and brought back to that dreaded black screen. I tried everything...except for the obvious destructive restart.I know I will probably have to do a complete restart of my computer, but before I do that, how can I backup data from a non-functioning laptop? Right before this happened, I was going to backup my data, but this happened. I know I need to do a backup all the time, but I was being dumb. I deserve this.

I can only control the mouse by using the lower left corner of the pad. I went into the settings in the control panel but I don't see a place to calibrate the pad.

View 6 Replies View RelatedEverytime I switch on my Acer 5740 Laptop, after it reaches the POST screen displaying the Acer logo and Setup (F2) and Boot Selection Menu (F12) the laptop restarts over and over again and never stops. It has only been doing this since i installed a new program, after i installed it a blue screen appeared saying "STOP", and a bunch of other text but I couldnt make out what it said as the screen disappeared so fast. It is probably the work of a virus of some sort.I have already tried to boot from my recovery discs, but after the restoring the OS to factory settings, the same restart loop happens again. I cannot even access safe mode as it immediately restarts after displaying the acer logo. But I am however able to access the BIOS setup (f2) and the boot selection menu (f12). I know for certain that I have no hardware problems as the system was working perfectly with no errors up until I ran the program and feel that this may be the work of a virus.Here are the details of my Acer Aspire 5740 laptop that I have acquired via the Setup menu:
