On another website I found the attached "About Windows" screen. Normally one can find the "About" information by clicking on the appropriate button (usually "Help") on a program's title bar but I'm not sure how to do that in Windows. Can someone please tell me how to produce the equivalent window on my PC?
View 2 RepliesI can't find anything on this and all 501/505 message posts are related to Windows XP not 7. But, I have a 501/505 error message in my Windows 7. Funny thing, it is a problem with all my browsers (IE and Firefox) and I cannot access any website with the www. prefix. Urls without this prefix works fine. The only thing I can think of is that I downloaded and installed a Java update yesterday. Did this cause the 501/505 error problem? All of a sudden I am getting a "Not a Genuine Windows" error.Windows is genuine as it's the original installation from Dell with all the updates. I called Dell who tried some stuff and couldn't remedy the problem (we did the uninstall and reinstall the KB971033 update). Dell then told me to call Microsoft which I did.The tech at MS, after trying some things that did not work including accessing my computer remotely, told me we need to do a repair of Windows 7. He told me that I could not use the Dell reinstall disc but that I could use any Windows 7 retail disc. He said I "could not" use a retail upgrade disc, a real copy of which I have from another computer.thread on this forum under another topic said an upgrade disc is ok. So now I am confused. Can I use the retail upgrade disc to repair the installation or do I need to hunt down a non-upgrade Windows 7 installation disc?

Close any programs or windows that might be using the device and try again." Since is happening with every device I plug in, I'm guessing it is a Windows 7 problem. Is there a way to fix it? I've been just pulling the usb out but someone said I should shut down the computer first.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a couple of new Dell Vostro 3700 laptops with Win7 on them in my office. One of them started getting a message about a week ago stating that the machine is low on memory and instructing the user to close all programs and shut down. This does not make any sense to me as it is a brand new machine with 4GB of memory available. Normally I would think the user had too many programs running, but he is getting it even when there are only a couple of programs running.
In the mean time, we purchased another Dell Vostro 3700. I went through the process of getting it set up. After I installed the final program, it gave me the same error message. I removed the program and installed a more up-to-date version. It seems to be working fine. So I figured the other was the same issue. I followed the same steps. It just got the error message agian. There goes my theory.

I am with BT Yahoo, and have two computers one desk top and one Lap Top used in travels, when going to my emails it starts to download the emails and then stops with an error Bt Server timed out,in order ro try again I have to come out of Live Mail and back in with luck it continues to load my emails, why is this? and should one download Windows Live again or is it BT at fault ?

When I removed the essentials it took the standard Windows Live Mail with it, lost address book and all. Downloaded the standard.Windows Live mail from Microsoft, re-set all my address book over a couple of weeks.
I sent an email message with a size of 8MB's to an AOL address it was apparently rejected by AOL but I did not get the normal email notification that it was not accepted it just keeps trying to send the message every time I access Windows Live Mail, then when I shut down mail I allways get a message tha I have mail to send yes or no. There are NO draft messages in any of my email addresses, I have four of them. I cannot delete the message within Windows 7 Pro or in the Live Mail program.

but I only have windows 7 64. Never had Vista on the machine. Just did a clean reinstall of windows 7 from my legal FULL disk. It has activated correctly.If I choose vista it still boots to win 7..

I Ve been trying to install Windows 7 RC on my Sony Vaio VGN 123 E and i managed to get my DVD fully working (booting windows 7 installation and all), but the las issue im having installing Windows 7 is that eveyrtime i get into the Install now screen, and i click on install now, it goes and show me a screen with this message:
No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok.
That message gives me 3 buttons: ok, cancel and browse, neither of OK and CANCEL would let me through the install, and with browse i have tried to find those missing drivers but without succeed.
I have read almost every near installation post on this forum and googled that error with no further
FYI:Vista Home Premium already Installed on Laptop. DVD/RW rom is working perfect and window7 does boot perfectly then why the hell it needs drivers again? I do not have drivers for Cd/dvd rom.
I get this error message in windows 7 and no one seems to know how to correct it. It specifically says it is a Windows application error so I contacted Microsoft and they say it is a software error. RoboForm says no, it is a Windows issue.
