I have a Satellite 215 A4747 laptop with Vista, which has the Radeon x1200 video card.
Now it may be the fact that I installed the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and the card just does not have the driver support for it, but I spent 2 hours trying different things and it will not take. I am going to try the 32 bit version tonight and see if I have better luck. I reinstalled Vista in the interim, but not happy with vista.
I upgraded my os from windows vista 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit home premium a few days ago, and am having a horrendous time fixing the resolution problem. I can not seem to locate a driver from ati or toshiba themselves to support this upgrade, anything i do find does not install stating that the os is not supported. My resolution was much higher (do not recall the exact numbers) but now maxs at 1152x864.

Ok so unfortunately the only OS i have is Windows 7 as my XP disk do not work. Yes I know that sucks.
I'm usually good with this sort of problem however this time im uncertain Of what i need to do. I kind of understand whats been said in other topics but I would like someone to make it clear on what i need to do with a little more detail then provided in other topics. I need to get Catalyst installed as well ..

After having installed it and starting it up for the first time it wont go further than the "logo" screen.
The only thing i have done is to install the Radeon 4800 series drivers..
There is no error codes or anything and i am running out of possible reasons.
My system was running perfectly with the RC candidate. The first time i even removed my second 4890 and it didn't help anything.
Please someone know what to do. Could it be a corrupted disc i have recieved from amazon?
I have a HP laptop on which there are 2 GPU`s one Intel 3000 and a Radeon HD 6490 M. At first I had a problem setting my Radeon GPU as main GPU. Because Radeon is more powerful I want it as primary but when i deactivate the Intel the screen gets all low-res and i cant change it up. On the other side, when i only disable the Radeon, the screen is still perfect. I have checked in game settings on differnt games and the GPU used is the Intel 3000 I wanted and still want to have Radeon as primary cuz of gaming. I still cant set the Radeon as primary.Installing new drivers from the AMD website doesnt work eighter. All i get is a catalyst with almost no options (2 mb). And when I start my laptop I always get as message reading: "the catalyst driver is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. please update your AMD graphics driver. or enable your AMD adapter using the Display Manager" W.T.F it is enabled in Display Maneger.

After installing Windows 7 and checking device manager, the ATI adapter does show up under the "Display adapters' section, but it has a ! sign on it, and if I click for details, it says:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
I tried downoading and installing this:
Lenovo Support & downloads - ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver for Windows Vista 32bit and 64bit - ThinkPad T400, R400, T500, W500
and when I rebooted, it went through some diagnostic tests in a cmd window to finish installation. But when I checked the device manager again, the ATI adapter still says it cannot start.
I also tried this:
ATI Catalystâ„¢ Mobility Display Driver
which I got to by selecting Windows 7 32-bit > Mobility Radeon > Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series.
It seemed to install OK, but I got a message which I've gotten with previous attempts, which says:
"The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enambled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics driver, or enable your ATI adapter using the Displays manager."
I went to the device manager, right-clicked on the ATI adapter and did Update Driver, and it did at first find a better match but said it couldn't be installed with the same error message from above (Code 10). Now, when I try to update the driver again, it says the best driver software is already installed.
Any ideas to fix this?
i installed the rtm and for some reason i cannot install my graphics card "ati radeon xpress 200 series intergrated" on my computer i use the installer but it doesnt find it, it only has standard vga.

So when I go to update my drivers to radeon website select the card series go win 7 64 and download the drivers,Before I install the drivers I go to control panel add/remove and remove the old driver software as the website instructed,after all the old stuff is removed I restart to be safe and install new driver software,no errors during the installation but as soon as its done monitor goes dark the pc fans start to work loudly,I wait a little with no success I power down the PC and turn it back on,starting PC back up everything works for about a minute until catalyst control center decides to load its self at which point blam black screen and pc shuts off at which point I have no choice to go safe mode and roll back to previous drivers,I tried doing it thru device manager internet option but it just told me im all up to date possibly because i never update my windows and updates are turned off.I know Im not update on drivers my software according to catalyst is 11.5 and missing some important drivers

Usually I can live with it and use my laptop or phone for skype but I've just bought a game on steam and I can't use steam voice chat on a different system then play on my gaming system at the same time and playing games with my friends without voice chat is unacceptable.When I plug a mic in it says its working and it shows up in realtek hd audio but when i try to use it with anything it doesnt work. The bar doesnt even go up when i test it in windows 7 so it must be muted. I've tested the mic with a laptop before so it definitely works. I've reinstalled realtek hd drivers. I think the problem is I'm using hdmi to connect my tv and use it as a monitor and apparently using hdmi sound from amd cards mute all other sounds. I need the speakers on my tv as they are my only speakers, and buying new speakers or a sound card is not a possible option right now. And even if I could get speakers, my tv only connects via hdmi anyway so the sound would still be muted so I really need this fix. how I can get windows 7 sound to work while using hdmi from a radeon graphics card to output sound to my speakers? Does anyone use hdmi to connect their display to an amd graphics card?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Radeon HD 3850 AGP and Windows 7, and I tried to do almost everything .I installed 9.12 drivers, 9.12 drivers with adding CL_91526 from the topic above), 9.11 drivers,9.11 drivers with Hotfix (ATI), 9.11 drivers with adding CL_91526, manual driver install by right click.Absolutely no changes and everytime the same ... During and after installing (before reboot) no changes in Device Manager, having "ATI Radeon 3850 " (or "ATI Radeon 3800 series" or something like that...) with yellow triangle and Microsoft Co. driver. And after reboot no changes with it, an error message with something like "Driver didn't install correctly, please install proper driver" ( though in ATI install log you can see that everything was installed succesfully). So after reboot I still see my VGA like "ATI Radeon 3800 series" with Microsoft driver and of course no changes in monitor resolution and all. If I try to delete microsoft driver (and device), and then install radeon drivers , during installation I absolutely just don't have any VGA in Device manager. And after reboot Windows 7 "finds" VGA and install from internet microsoft driver, so I can see "ATI Radeon HD 3850 (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1)" in Device Manager.
